Have been a patient of Dr. Joel for over a decade now and I couldn't be more pleased with the care I've received. He's a consummate professional and shows true concern for my health and wellbeing. I have referred multiple people to his practice with complete confidence.

One-of-a-kind doctor/surgeon/urologist – absolutely THE best! Within minutes of initial consult, I knew I was in competent and experienced hands. Took time to listen …and then explain (in layman’s terms) what the likely issues and causes were …as well as the tests and procedures needed to confirm same before operating (i.e., takes minimally invasive approach prior to jumping ahead with potentially unnecessary/unwarranted surgery). Most especially, I appreciated Dr. Joel telling me the “WHY” of …what was going on… what he intended to do (or not do), etc… In weeks awaiting surgery he took time to review questions left on patient portal and respond, reassuring me of any lingering doubts and that surgery was the only/best option. Very professional and personable bed side manner and appreciated his prompt checkups following surgery and during recovery. Although it’s only been just over week since surgery, I couldn't be more pleased - outcome has been nothing less than life changing. Dr. Joel sets the “gold standard” for urologists... very grateful for his skills in restoring the quality of life I had hoped for.

Dr. Joel is a highly competent and caring surgeon. He is not only extremely knowledgeable but is an exceptionally good communicator. You can tell he really respects and cares about his patients. Unfortunately the organization of the office, at least when I was there in 2019, was sub-optimal. It’s an extremely busy practice so access to doctors was limited. I mostly had to deal with nurse practitioners whose competence and attitude left a great deal to be desired.

I've now seen Dr. Joel for several years and I could not be more satisfied. He is an excellent doctor and a fine person who listens carefully and provides excellent care.

Dr. Joel is an excellent doctor. No wonder he is in Best Doctors (Washingtonian), Best Doctors (Northern Virginia) & Best Doctors (Arlington)

Overall unhappy about the office and procedure. About a year and half later and I am still encountering pain. This can happen with this procedure but he seemed to be dumbfounded each time I saw him. When I finally saw a specialist he did an ultrasound and was able to see the issue. I recommended an ultrasound to dr Joel and he said it wouldn’t help but did one anyways and nothing came up because a tech did it and didn’t know what to look for. All of the visits had long waits and he works out of Arlington hospital, however does surgery at a location in bethesda. That location was horrible as well.

Excellent doctor. Treated my father for different issues, performed stent replacement surgery. Kind, compassionate, respectful. Professional. Treatment was carefully chosen and worked from the first time. Surgery went well and was done with all peculiarities we asked for. We were happy to find such a true expert as Dr Joel!

Bunch of Fake Reviews. Only de negative ones are real. The rest are fake praising the doctor .

Called in, and they dont even take medicaid, at first youd think okay that must be because the medicaid doesnt cover for whatever reason but no upon further research the reason they deny you medical help is due to profit, they dont get high enough amount of money so they decline you outright. Waited over 6 weeks for the appointment. When the time came, Dr Joel stood outside working on a different case, dictating notes and sent in his freshly graduated understudy. When I knew I would be dealt by the intern resident I specifically asked the Dr to see me. Interestingly, the recommendations from the resident were a complete 180 from what the Dr recommended. I'm 21 and writing a medical review ! I got a circumcision from Dr Joel on the 13th. For the majority of my family's life they have seen and been with doctors, I gotta say, I kind of feel guilty for seeing such a great doctor myself when it's my turn to see a doctor lol. Incredibly helpful, did better then needed. Respects patients and answers questions without causing fear yet still giving the answer correctly. I have been Dr. Joel's patient for about twelve years. I have one hundred percent confidence in him. I have an ongoing kidney issue and have had multiple procedures performed by him. I never worry because I know that I am in the best hands. Dr. Joel is proficient in his work from explaining what he needs to do and carrying out his plan in the operating room.

Very respectful, diligent, and thorough. Grateful for his thorough and expert care and respectful bedside manner.

Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Joel. I’ve seen countless doctors of many specialities and he tops every one. He’s very professional. He never makes you feel like you’re on your own in anything you’re experiencing. He carefully listens, answers every question you have and absolutely makes sure you understand the plan he has for you and condition that you have. He listens to your concerns and desires and makes a plan for that. You’re not a test subject but a person he wants to have a quality of life. Over the years I’ve learned to asked questions instead of just saying “Okay, sure” to doctors because they don’t always have your best interest in mind. Simply The Best. I Feel Fortunate To Have Dr. Joel As My Urologists. Spent Years Trying To Find Successful Treatment. Under His Care My Symptoms Are Almost Non Existent .For Almost Four Years! He And His Office Are On The Cutting Edge ( No Pun Intended) Of Technology To Treat Urological Disorders. And If Surgery Is Required Through Their Pioneering Use Of The Da Vinci Robot. Outstanding physician. Calm, reassuring and comprehensive.

My elderly father was a patient for many years. At his first visit, my dad told Dr. Joel that he was going to call him "Dr. Andy," and Dr. J. was OK with that. At age 97 when my dad went to Hospice, Dr. Joel called me at 5:00 pm to say how sorry he was to hear the news. He asked me to let my dad know he was thinking about him. That's when my dad shared the "Dr. Andy" story. He was my dad's ONLY M.D. to call us! A very caring physician who always took my dad's "complaints" seriously.

After moving to Arlington I needed a referral to a urologist. My primary care doctor recommended Doctor Joel. He has been proven an excellent physician with compassion and concern about my condition Also he is very patient and listens to your questions and concerns and communicates very well when providing answers to you.

Dr. Joel is a highly competent, extremely experienced, medical practitioner focusing on urological conditions. He addresses his work in a highly professional manner and achieves positive patient outcomes. Having had a bilateral ureteroscopy performed, I was very worried about the process and the outcomes, both of which were mitigated through an effective surgery and appropriate post-operative treatment and management. HOWEVER, the administrative and medical assistant corps of this office is among the worst I have ever seen. As a healthcare consultant, it is clear that every business and customer service process is broken almost beyond repair. Once you can get to the Dr. all is good. But good luck getting that far.
