Dr. Andrew I Elkwood

In Feb 2022 I started experiencing pain in my left buttocks. Not sure what caused the pain. I could not sit/stand still for more than 15 minutes without excruciating pain(level 8) everyday. I saw many DRs, specialists, PT, pain management, chiropractors, and had MRIs, XRAYs, CAT scans and no one could figure out what was wrong. A few doctors believed it was Piriformis Syndrome, while others disagreed but could not provide diagnosis. During the summer of 2022 I went back to my primary DR and he said he had another patient with this syndrome that Dr Elkwood helped alleviate their pain. I was calling Advanced Reconstruction that day. After a lengthy screening process, I was seeing Dr. Elkwood. He determined exactly what was wrong with me, which was pudendal nerve compression caused by scar tissue and piriformis pressure. I was scheduled for surgery in Dec 2022. After a year of pain I am on the way to being pain free without any medication! Dr Elkwood gave me my life back. Thank you!!

I had the most amazing experience with Dr Elkwood. After 3years of excruciating pain from a hernia surgery in 2019, Dr. Elkwood performed a second surgery to entangle nerves with scarred tissues. Immediately are the surgery, I felt an immediate difference and relief. His staff is amazing, very professional. I would recommend everyone to his office, Best Surgeon in the world.

So thankful I found Dr Elkwood. I had been to multiple physicians and no one could help me until now. He gave me hope that he could help the problem. He is an outstanding surgeon and his staff was excellent especially his PA Stephanie. Staff communicates well and was caring and compassionate.

Ran into a significant problem with my pudendal nerve 6 years ago. Couldn’t sit down without excruciating pain. After about 2 years of trying everything I was referred to Dr Elkwood. It’s been a long road but Dr Elwood listened to what was going on with me. Very thorough in ruling things out and making sure he had the right diagnosis before my first nerve surgery. Ended up having 3 separate surgeries and now after 6 years I can finally sit down again. So thankful and relieved..

Dr Elkwood and hIs team are really amazing! I was in a really bad situation with a winged scapula. Let’s just say I was not an easy patient to deal with lol. I was having a lot of problems mentally because of my situation. Dr Elkwood and his team of excellent Dr staff kept me in high hopes and eventually turned my whole situation around for the best!!! I would say currently I’m up in the 90% range for recovery and I’m sure I’ll make a 100% recovery at this point. Bottom line is I was very nervous and upset before we started this whole process and now I’m back to the person I was before my injury and it’s because of Dr Elkwood and his astonishing team. I was referred from another surgeon who advised me that my case was very complex. He thought I would do great with Dr. Elkwood. After consultation with Dr. Elkwood and another doctor, it was determined I was a candidate for BARS surgery. Prior, during and after surgery, the care I received from Dr. Elkwood and his staff was exceptional! Everything has been wonderful since day one. Dr. Lakhiani was very thorough with his plan and took the time out of his day to follow up with me to make sure I was okay. I went to another doctor for an appointment and they even complimented Dr. Lakhiani’s work, saying he’s a wonderful surgeon.

I’m at 14 months post-surgery for a complicated left brachial plexus injury. After 9 months and 5 days of physical therapy, I have improved functionality. Hopefully, time will continue my healing. Before my surgery, Dr. Elkwood gave me a clear view of expectations for recovery. His integrity, empathy, and compassion, gave me hope that I was moving within a positive direction. It would have been extremely helpful if numerous doctors already seen would have sent me to Dr. Elkwood sooner. I consulted him ‘on my own’, as I knew in my heart something was very, very wrong. Addressing a brachial plexus injury sooner, rather than later, IS of the utmost urgency. If you feel your doctors are imagining you’re crazy and tell you to ‘join a gym and workout’ to address your ‘imaginary’ injury, please run...like the wind. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Elkwood (and his team’s) overall care for my well-being. Dr. Elkwood treats others the way he wants to be treated.

Had a tummy tuck. Still healing but so far very happy. Did a lot of research to find the right doctor. He is double board certified and very artful. The office is nice. He is kind and conversational. I’m already planning to do some more procedures in the fall

Dr. Elkwood is a compassionate, highly skilled surgeon, and diagnosed a pelvic nerve entrapment after 10 doctors said they either didn’t know or nothing could be done. The surgery was life changing and I would recommend him enthusiastically to anyone in the world.

I had a back fusion in 2019 and had weakness in my right leg. After a year of physical therapy the weakness did not improve. A prior surgeon recommended me to Dr Elkwood to explore my other options to strengthen my leg. With that said my first appointment with Dr Elkwood was great. My visit was for my 8 year old daughter who had a lesion on her face that needed to be removed. From first consult to surgery to post op Dr. Elkwood was beyond amazing with my daughter. Had knee replacement and they severely damaged my femoral nerve that paralyzed my left leg. Was referred to Dr. Elkwood from Neurologist who did my EMG. He was awesome from day one. Explains so that you understand, not alarming, awesome with testing. Explained what Procedure he could do to fix my ability to walk again. Procedure went as explained. Was told nerve healing would be slow but it would. It took a year to get maximum function. I am 90% to normal. I thought I would never walk again and I walk 2-3 miles a day and bike now.

Dr Elkwood is the Best! I’ve been a patient of his for over 16 years for both surgery & cosmetic fillers. I’ve always been extremely pleased with the results and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a younger, healthier look.

The surgery I received from Dr Elkwood was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I was never able to workout or lift items without my arm and shoulder being in pain. Now that he has helped me with fixing all the nerve damage in my shoulder from the surgery I am almost back to 100% and feel great! It was an easy process he explained the situation to me very well to help understand how the procedure would work and he’s a very nice person who takes the time to walk you through the process. If you are ever in a similar situation with nerve damage I highly recommend Dr Elkwood he is the best of the best and changed my life.

My experience with Dr Elkwood was amazing ! I had total numbness in my right hand and up my arm . I was recommended by a friend to go for a consultation with him. He did carpal tunnel surgery and I didn’t realize I had compressed nerves in two different parts of my arm. Dr Elwood set me up for surgery where he released the compressed nerves . I have absolutely no numbness at all and I’m able to do everything I used to do without dropping items or numbness. He is a wonderful surgeon and so his his entire office staff.

I would highly recommend Dr. Elkwood; he is extremely knowledgeable in the condition of pudendal neuralgia and performed a piriformis release and nerve decompression surgery for compression of the pudendal nerve. Surgery cleared up many symptoms experienced before as it is a challenging condition.

Dr. Elkwood, along with his staff, gave me the feeling that I was their only patient. I was given all of my options in detail. Both Dr Elkwood and his staff spent as much time 'as I needed' to go over every aspect of every detail before my procedures and continue to do so after the fact. The work performed was nothing short of a medical miracle. To say the least, I am beyond a loss of words regarding my complete satisfaction.

Dr Elkwood has performed numerous cosmetic surgeries including breast lift , breast implant and most recently implant removal and another breast lift. I also had liposuction .All surgeries resulted in excellent results with no complications. He is the absolute best and his staff is very attentive and caring .

I was injured in the line of duty fall of 2015, I have had 6 different Surgeries in Maine to fix and correct my injuries. Sadly to no avail, I was referred to Dr. Elkwood by my Ortho Surgeon; who did alot of research into who might be able to get to the bottom of my condition. Dr. Elkwood was able to meet with me via telephone, and order diagnostic testing through my Ortho Surgeon seeing I was five States away which saved me lots of time and money! Once the testing was completed Dr. Elkwood asked to meet with me in his office, during the visit Dr. Elkwood was able to fully diagnose and to plan out with me the surgical intervention needed to correct them. May of 2021 Dr. Elkwood and a Fellow Surgeon in his Surgical practice preformed two different surgical procedures on me, Dr. Elkwood and his Colleague successfully fixed the extensive damage to my abdomen, and tendons. I fully recommend Dr. Elkwood to anyone who is at wits end and seeking help in improving thier quality of life!

Dr. Elkwood performed my Panniculectomy June of 2020. On my recent final check up, once again I must say that he and his wonderful staff, are highly skilled, professional and treat you with great care and respect. If I ever need another procedure I would definitely return feeling safe, confident and beyond pleased!

I have been a patient of Dr. Elkwood’s for one year, and it has been the BEST medical experience of my life! My only regret is not coming to see Dr. Elkwood sooner! I am 3 months post-op from my left-side pudendal nerve decompression surgery, & I already have significant improvement in the quality of my life! I am scheduled to have my right-side nerve decompression surgery done in just a few weeks! Not only did Dr. Elkwood have the gift and skills to be able to operate on me, but he listened carefully and was able to address many of my complicated health conditions. My experience with Dr. Elkwood, The Plastic Surgery Center, and his wonderful care team; have outstandingly perfectly executed everything! This place is stupendous. Dr. Andrew Elkwood is a combination of expertise and magic fingers. He listened to me all the way and addressed all my concerns. He is a phenomenal specialist. Additionally, the staff is cordial and they are expert’s in the field (very impressive.) The wait can sometimes be a little long but it is worth it; highly recommended.

I went to Dr. Elkwood 12 years ago for breast augmentation and had great experience. When I decided to have larger implants, I went back to Dr. Elkwood this past October. Dr Elkwood and the entire staff was amazing esp through covid guidelines !

I have been in horrible pain in both shoulders since a bad car accident in 2012. My both shoulders felt like knifes stabbing in them 24/7. Dr Elkwood and Dr Shah saved my life by finally taking away the pain and knowing what the cause was after years of drs telling me it was my back causing my pain. I thank them both from the bottom of my heart to finally make me pain free. These drs are the best and know how to treat patients and fix them. Thank You!!!

Dr. Elkwood was amazing! He took his time explaining everything about my procedure, and answered all of my questions. I never felt rushed or uncomfortable. I did not end up having surgery with dr. elkwood due to some other issues but he is a wonderful surgeon. he answered any questions I had knowing how nervous I was and was very patient with me. alex was such a sweetheart. she spent hours with me on the phone altogether going over each part of my surgery and what to expect. i have been to a few other places where they push all these different things on you to make money but not here. they really do care about their patients here. what a blessing to have found them and i will surely schedule once covid goes away.

GREAT DOCTOR! I recently underwent a pudendal neuralgia surgery with Dr. Andrew Elkwood after experiencing debilitating pain for almost a year due to a traumatic injury. He walked me through everything step by step making sure I was well-situated and that he crossed all his T's and dotted all his I's. What seemed like the end for me was only just the beginning as he has been able to restore my life almost completely back to normal. I am so thankful for him and his strong team behind him. His nurse Steph was consistent with checking up on me before/after the surgery and every step of the way. I also encountered many issues with my insurance provider and his assistant Ally took it all upon herself to get it sorted out in time for my surgery and while doing that showed nothing but genuine concern and compassion for me making sure that I took the proper steps to ensure my well being and safety from arrival to departure. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THIS TEAM AND EVERYTHING THEY HAVE DONE FOR ME.

Dr. Elkwood provided me a solution when every doctor I had visited saw none. He performed a nerve decompression on my right leg and has made me feel almost new again. We are still working on my recovery but I am so grateful I found him!

Dr. Elkwood is amazing! I have a bracial plexus injury since birth. (43 years ago). I started to experience major burning & painful nerve pain about a year ago. It got progressively worse causing interruption in daily life. Well, Dr. Elkwood fixed it. I'm about 7 weeks post op & have NO pain. I call that amazing!

I am a Breast Cancer Survivor, with ongoing issues I was recommended to see Dr. Elkwood. I needed to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction. When I first met with him he was kind caring listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions. Dr Elkwood successfully corrected complicated nerve and tissue issues in my neck, shoulders, arm and hand. 2 previous surgeries conducted by other plastic surgeries had failed. I am 3 weeks post op, and under superb care from Dr Elkwood my healing is surpassing expectations with a good long term prognosis.

As a registered nurse I have watched Dr Elkwood care for his patients with respect and compassion so when I needed a physician I chose him to care for me. Horrible he doesn't care about your concerns was very rude he put mesh in my midsection and when complaining about it I was told to lose weight as I am too heavy and after losing 100 plus pounds I have a cheese grater in me that cost 10k plus that they wanted Jan 1 before operating on me with insurance no less no bed side manner and Jersey Shore will tell you that your in the greatest hands and he is one of the best plastic Dr around they could of kept their thank you bag with cookies and a newspaper for a Dr. that cares
