Reviews for Andrew D. Cooper
Gave them all of my insurance information, they told me you are good to come in we take your insurance and the plan. I came in and filled out 2-4 papers just for them to tell me they don’t take my insurance. Took this morning off from work to get my should looked at and now I am out half a day of work for nothing.

One of my best medical experiences. Nice people! Punctual! Answered all my questions! Excellent job on my shoulder! Couldn’t be happier.
Exceptional doctor and staff. Have been going to Dr Cooper for years and have had multiple operations, all of which have worked out much better than expected. Highly recommend

Dr. Cooper and his team are incredibly professional. The pre-op and post-op appointments were great and they always had good answers to my concerns. My upper pectoral tendon injury was unique and I waited a while(4 months) for surgery, and Dr. Cooper still agreed to perform it. My chest is healing well and i'm excited to get back to my standard exercising routine. Dr. Cooper and his team are incredibly professional. Dr. Cooper, Lauren, and Kevin are the greatest. Each of them is incredible at what they do, and they make me feel like family. Thanks to all for keeping me upright!
Dr. Cooper and his team were very professional. Everyone was so nice and helpful. They took great care of me and my knee!
Dr. Cooper and his office staff are the best in Utah. I would recommend them to everyone I know. Treats their patients with the highest quality and it is shown in the outcome. My knee has never felt better. Thank you!

Dr. Cooper is off the charts amazing!!
Extraordinary service and professionalism. I highly recommend Dr. Cooper and his staff.
Excellent surgery and post-op (5 star). The pre-op was by far the worst beginning of any medical experience I could imagine. (0 stars) Average of 3.

Dr. Cooper and his whole team are amazing! I am very happy with the care and service from everyone involved with me.
Over two appointments and one orthoscopic surgery, I’ve had a very smooth experience, and am very happy with how the surgery went. Dr. Cooper and his staff at the clinic and hospital (I just remember some: Kevin, Paige, Nikki, Debbie, Greg, Bradley, and a tall female PA whose name escapes) were just a delight.
We have used Dr Cooper and his group fir many years and many reasons. They are professional and know you as an individual patient. Doctors are great PAs are great, front office is great. I would recommend them to anyone.
My mother in law, who is 68 years old, had to have her shoulder manipulated by this doctor last week. She was put under anesthesia because it was so painful, and was sent away the same day WITHOUT ANYTHING FOR PAIN!!! I very much understand how doctors are under a microscope now due to the overuse of medication, but when it is warranted, it should be given. I have watched my poor mother in law writhe in pain for several days now. She felt like she was being called an addict, and was made to feel bad about herself only because she was afraid to face this surgery without proper medication. DO NOT go this doctor... Very good over all.
Cooper, Kevin and Lauren are awesome.
Very professional, skillful, dedicated and caring
They seem to genuinely care what's best for me
Lauren is great and helped with my right knee post operation! Very quick and excellent service
Very competent good manner. And complete disclosure of what was going to happen.
Given the experiences with 2 other surgeons that gave me the major runaround, Dr Cooper and his staff were very helpful when I told them of my situation and what I was doing thru to avoid any further pain and discomfort which at that point I was at the end of my rope. Was very happy he chose to go do a scope procedure and do some cleanup and minicus repair which turned out to be the main reason for most of the pain. Kevin and Lauren were a big help as well since they got to witness me attempting to walk thru Dr Coopers office. I got to the point where I couldn't hardly walk and capablr of going to work, but I liked Dr Coopers character and his sense of humor up to surgery time and would recommend him by far over the one's I had experiences with at the University of Utah Orthopedics center. Doctor Andrew Cooper and his staff are very courteous and professional.
It was a bigger tear than we anticipated, but I am healing quicker than I expected.
Felt like I was taken care of properly. Didn’t feel like there was any questions because he answered them all. Really took care of me
I loved Dr. Cooper and his P.A. Kevin. Surgery went well. Everything was explained clearly and i was given photos of what fixed inside my knee. Doc seemed very skilled and my knee feels great.
Dr Cooper and his staff are incredible! They are the best of the best. Very skilled and professional. I wouldn’t go anywhere else
As a former professional athlete, I wouldn’t trust my knee to anyone other than Dr. Cooper. His care from start to finish has been top notch.
Dr. Cooper and his staff went to battle with my insurance to get me the care I needed. My surgery went better than I hoped for and I am getting back to normal. This office is truly remarkable!
I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus this past June. I would highly recommend Dr Cooper. He is a professional, very caring, honest, knowledgeable and knows how to treat his patients. He recommended me to work with excellent and caring Physical Therapists.
Dr Cooper repaired my ACL a few years ago, my knee is perfect. I run, ski, hike, bike and dance. Crushed my foot surfing, could have resulted in a lifelong injury. Dr Cooper performed the complicated surgery. A metal plate and 8 screws holding my metatarsal together. 4 months laster, I am back running, hiking, biking, skiing. Husband tore his meniscus. Dr Cooper to the rescue, 2 months later husband is back on the bike. Dr Cooper rocks. You just can't get a better doctor and surgeon. Highly recommend. Dr Cooper a s his staff were wonderful. I’ve been suffering for six months with PF tendinitis. I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to understand why I can’t run. He’s the first to explain my condition in a way that makes sense. Above all he took the tome to spell out my condition and while he didn’t offer immediate relief did provide hope I’ll recover but it will take time. Dr Cooper a s his staff were wonderful. Dr Cooper is the best! He is kind, compassionate, skilled, and dedicated. His follow up before and immediately after surgery was so kind. His ongoing commitment to getting our son competing again has been so encouraging. As far as we can tell the procedure has been very successful.
Saw him 8 years ago. Said I needed surgery for torn meniscus. Got a second opinion who said he didn't see anything on the MRI. When I questioned the doctor and his staff on the phone about it i was told to dig in deep within myself and decide whether or not I actually had a torn meniscus. Very knowledgeable, diagnosed my issue and recommended a good physical therapist. Unfortunately dismissed my concerns about the degenerative nature of corticosteroid injections and insisted I have one anyway. He also prescribed a knee brace through DJO that I was charged $380 for when I could have purchased it from the DJO website for $35. I would suggest Dr. Cooper take more time to listen to his patients legitimate (and scientifically backed) concerns and that the office stops giving patients DJO products in office since it's a huge expense compared to value, or at least takes the time to inform patients that they can purchase the same product online for a fraction of the cost. They answer the phone almost immediately but then they put you on hold for at least 10 minutes. It takes them a week to fill a form. Dealing with that while in pain from the surgery made suffer and wish that I had not done the surgery.

You really, really, really deserve to have a Doctor who has his sh#t together! No nonsense, no false expectations; just a well oiled team that knows how to work together ... and that's what they did to my knee; gave it a little 'knee oil' Thanks, Drew
Never had such a positive easy Dr appt. He listens and doesn’t act as though he needs to get on to his next appt. Took away my stress!!! Wow!
Over the past several years I have been to Dr. Cooper for several injuries including one ankle and both rotator cuff's. Dr. Cooper is far and away the most personable and knowledgeable doctor I have worked with, not to mention his capable staff. I would and have recommended Dr. Cooper to dozens of people and will continue to do so in the future. Thanks for being a great doctor. The staff are rude and unprofessional - especially his assistant Cory
Dr. Cooper has impressed me with his conservative approach to my diagnosis and treatment. Throughout the process of my diagnosis he has been very open in talking about the multiple options for treatment and letting me know that he wanted the best medical outcome for me. An MRI showed that rotator cuff surgery was indicated was done with so mush skill that I had very little pain and an easy recovery. I am doing slow, targeted PT to get full use of joint w/o over stressing the repaired tendons.
Extremely positive, and continuous experience with Dr. Cooper and his entire staff in both offices. My son moved to UT last year and had to address an additional knee injury/diagnosis/surgery with a new doctor, promptly. Dr. Cooper is incredibly knowledgeable, caring and very empathetic. He takes time to really listen, understand and explain- before, during and after surgery. His assistants, Kevin & Jessica, are exceptional, so kind, patient and efficient on every level. Grateful for Dr. Cooper.
Dr. Cooper performed AC joint surgery on my shoulder about 5 years ago. Within about 6 weeks after surgery my clavicle popped up (about an inch) due to the fact that the way he connected the clavicle to my scapula. I put up with this for almost 5 years and unfortunately tore my labrum this past summer (2017). I recently had surgery from Dr. Charles Beck and he repaired my torn labrum and repaired my clavicle (the right way). Dr. Cooper never saw me after the surgery and wanted to blame the PT process for the poor surgical approach. Needless to say my shoulder has never felt better and I really regret the past 5 painful years. To me there is no comparison, the only downside to Dr. Beck is that you might have to wait a month or so before surgery as he is in demand. My advice is its better to wait for the top surgeon in Utah to work on your shoulder. At a minimum, get a second opinion as not all surgeons are the same. Dr Cooper fixed on old SLAP tear in my dominant shoulder. So glad I decided to see him and his fantastic team.
I came to see Dr. Cooper (Referral) for a Rotator Cuff Repair. I have to tell you that if you get this Physician/Surgeon to commit to your health, you have hit the lottery. Dr. Cooper is not your typical Physician. He is genuine, he listens, acknowledges, and validates your concerns. He is real, no nonsense, honest, and upfront about not only his expectations of you, but his own abilities to ensure the best outcome as it directly relates to your situation. I do not generally fill out reviews, but this physician went above and beyond to earn my respect and takes the Hippocratic Oath "Do No Harm" to another level. If he is on your list of Physicians as it relates to his specialties (Ortho), look no further. Thank you again for everything, Dr. Cooper... 3 years ago, Dr Cooper did my Achilles repair. I was back playing basketball 7 months later. He does what’s in the best interest of you, not him. I’ve never had a more positive experience dealing with a Doctor. Hopefully I don’t have to see him again, but any surgery I need done I will no doubt go see him
I saw Dr Cooper after a skiing accident. First impression — he was uninterested and aloof, but I dismissed it because my top priority was good treatment. Surgery was enthusiastically scheduled for a chondroplasty, meniscal repairs and cadaver ACL insertion. Post-surgery was very frustrating. Weeks after surgery and intense PT, I was not healing properly, He didn't seem to care much — "let's see how it looks in 6-8 weeks" — over and over again. 5 years later, I am having his work redone.

I had both knees operated on 4 1/2 years ago. It was mostly to "clean out" some torn meniscus. I heard later, that there is no evidence that such operations make much of an improvement. And in my case, things only got worse. First, I developed bursitis above the kneecap. They removed a lot of the excess fluid once, but it came back and they refused to do it again. I also developed pain in my SI joint which they couldn't explain and I still have. And my knee pain has only worsened since.

Overall wonderful experience with this Medical practice, from the personable woman on the phone who helped me, to the check in staff, including the funny guy who called me "Sweety". Dr Cooper's caring PA. Sorry, I'm so bad w/ names. She was very nice to me and listened to my story. Dr. Cooper was wonderful! Explained my MRI and my shoulder situation so I understood. The whole staff was fun and happy. Can't forget Dr. Kirk and his assistant! AWESOME! Can't recommend enough!
He is cold and disinterested if you are not an elite athlete. I had no idea he was the team doc for RSL, which is immediately thrown into your face when you walk thru their doors. I was pawned off onto to his PA's after the first visit and they treated me like my injury wasn't worth their time. Several thousand $$'s and many worthless injections later, I found a doc who truly cared and actually FIXED my problem. Dr. Cooper needs some humble pie and lessons in compassion towards regular folk.
Coop has performed 3 procedures on me, all related to collegiate athletics. He is very knowledgeable, but great at explaining that on the level of his patients. Very professional, but great bed-side. I have gone months between visits and he still remembers what we talked about last time. My recovery from all procedures was flawless and I have no remaining signs of injury. I trust him with my life. Wish he did backs too ;) P.s. Salt Lake office is always busier than the Sandy office

Dr. Cooper is an incredible doctor. I first went to him in 2006 to repair a torn achilles tendon. I was into triathlon at the time, as was Dr. Cooper. He's very sports-oriented so he REALLY understood my desire to get back to an active lifestyle. I was able to return to full activity (including racquetball, tennis, running, etc) 6 months after the surgery, and I don't worry about that injury at all anymore. I got to see him again in 2011 when I had a major injury on a trampoline, tearing my ACL, MCL, PCL and meniscus. That required two surgeries and 8 months of recovery, but I'm back to playing racquetball, tennis, volleyball, etc. I can not recommend Dr. Cooper highly enough. My wife hurt her knee skiing at Solitude. The PA checked her out and said it was a low grade MCL tear and should start feeling better in 2 weeks. 2 months later she's having to go to another doctor. Also, they gave us a brace they said would mostly be covered by insurance. We ended up having to pay $380 out of pocket for the brace. I could have purchased the same brace online for $115. I felt like I went to a crooked Auto Mechanic.
Unless you play soccer for Real Salt Lake, don't expect him to care about you. I came to him when I had no luck with TOSH. I went into full detail and even showed him a video of what would occur with my leg. He was disinterested and told me I needed new shoes. I have been running for years, 60-90 miles a week. I run a 1:15 half and 2:40 full and this guy had the nerve to tell me to stop running. Come to find out from a doctor who cares, I have Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome.

Dr Cooper has been amazing. His knowledge pre surgery, during the procedure, and post surgery have saved me months in recovery. He understands the shoulder better then any other Dr. I personally saw. I recommend anyone with shoulder problems to see Dr. Cooper.
