Dr. Merchea saved my life after I experienced a severe bowel perforation when I was 28 years old. I truly believe I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him.
If you are interested in a self-absorbed, arrogant guy, he's your man! May be a good surgeon, but he couldn't be bothered to review the history of my case. Due to recent back surgery (4 weeks), I was unable to kneel and bend for the exam in the way he wanted (per my back surgeon's order). He was so agitated that he couldn't wait to get me out of there. Never got to show him information collected about my condition (pictures of actual problem), so I'll get to start over with a new surgeon. Probably the least professional interaction I've ever had with a medical professional.
I travelled from Tampa to see Dr. Merchea. I had a tumor growing from my colon to my bladder. He took it all out with a robot! I'm now 2 years out and still cancer free. He deserves a medal.
