Awful doctor, didn’t listen to me nor did she take her time to explain things to me. I felt as if she was ignoring me and rushing to to do the steroid injection and then started forcing my right hand mainly my thumb in different directions which caused me so much pain and she stated well it’s not harming you, the pain is fine. Doctors have always SM told me if it causes pain to stop but she kept trying to force my thumb to move in directions which caused me to start crying and I told her to stop. Her reply: “well it shouldn’t hurt since I put a numbing injection in first “. Well I felt EVERYTHING AND ALL THE PAIN!! That cortisone shot did not work and she said if the shot doesn’t work then she will do surgery. I am not allowing her to perform surgery in me. I want a better rated doctor to perform my surgery.

In the spring of 2010, Dr. Richards did surgery on my right thumb joint. I was an art teacher, a mother of two. I had been wearing different braces for months. I received the normal joint shots. It is now 2020. My right thumb joint has been pain free and fully functioning for all these years. She told me back then that I may not be able to use a pair of scissors again. Yes I was able and still can. She's that good. Now I need her to take care of my left thumb joint. PLEASE.

I have had a good experience with Dr. Richards. She has not rushed during appointments and is very caring.

I experienced the same problem as another reviewer. Not enough pain control. Not everyone is drug seeking. Surgeries, carpal tunnel release and trigger thumb, went well Dr said I could have local anesthesia but nurses at hospital gave me grief for drinking too much water ie I wasn’t fasted. In addition hospital staff tried to force me to have IV sedation. All I wanted was a local block and sufficient post op pain management.

Impressed w/ Dr. Richards on the 1st visit. Because of the following experience I endured during and after an in office surgery,I would NOT recommend her EVER: I asked for an additional injection of a local anesthetic since I was beginning to have quite a bit of pain in operative site. I wanted time to be able to get prescription filled for the 5 tablets of pain medication she ordered and get home in order to keep pain managed. She flatly declined . It took 36 hrs. to get pain under control.

No stars! Terrible doctor, worst I've ever had. Didn't review xrays she ordered. Following five minute rushed exam recommended steroid infections every couple of months. Find another doctor if you want your problem correctly diagnosed and treated correctly. Zero stars on level of trust in provider, how well she explained condition (she didn't), how well she listens and answers questions and amount of time spent with patient. Would not recommend doctor!
