Dr. Butler is a jerk. Was recommended by my kids pediatrician to go see him. Took my 1 year old and 5 year old to see him about their tongue ties. Waiting in exam room for 15 minutes for him and first thing he does when he walks in is say to pick up my 1 year old son before he gets trampled on. Like I was supposed to have my kids restrained the whole time while we wait. He never once talked to either of my kids to ask questions. Just told my 5 year old to not touch the chair. Was impatient and rude. Keep your kids away. Also told me there is no proof clipping tongue ties work so made me feel like the whole appointment was a waste of time. Most people will interact with children like they care. Not him.

If I could give zero stars I would. Save yourself the time, money, and trouble and find another ENT to see.

Absolute worst doctor experience of my life. He walked into my exam room after receiving the results of an MRI, and the first words out of his mouth were "I've got bad news"......I'd just had an MRI. Not, "how are you" let's go over these results. And the bad news was that the MRI did not include the area that he wanted to see very well. He also left the office and went to lunch when we expressed a desire to talk to him before we left. I never went back. Absolute worst doctor experience of my life. Such a waste of our time and money. We felt like nothing was being accomplished, never got a clear answer. Dr.Butler was not very friendly or compassionate . I would highly recommend not seeing this doctor. We were told to get a scan which we did and then while at the Er to get this problem handled ,we were told he wanted us back in his office to do this procedure so another copay and he literally did nothing but say you need to go back to the hospital and have another test ran. Stay away!!! Lacks competency and compassion. Wasted my time and money for a rude, useless experience. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor who will listen to you, actually check your symptoms, and respond accordingly. Not to be found with this one.

I would give 0 stars if possible. Worst experience with a physician EVER! Actually went for my sister who has a large thyroid goiter that she was told needed to removed after a biopsy. She can barely talk because of the hoarseness it is causing. All the "Dr" was focused on was a medication she had been prescribed in the past. BUT he didn't even read her chart!! She is in end stage renal failure and that medication is being stopped because of side effects to the kidneys. HE ACTUALLY TOLD HER TO INCREASE IT?!?!? He diagnosed her with GERD and told her to come back in 6-12 months. NOT ONCE DID HE EVEN ADDRESS THE GOITER . Not once did he even palpate her neck or thyroid. It really is disgraceful and gross negligence on the part of a health care giver to NOT give good health care. STAY AWAY IS MY ADVICE! I would give 0 stars if possible. I'm very happy with Dr. Alan Butler and his staff, I've been going to Dr. Butler for 3 years and have had sinus surgery and tubes put in my ears by him in the Gainesville office. I've had ear and sinus problems and seen many difference ENT's during my 70 years. He the best in my option.

Dr. Butler saw my daughter at one week old for a tongue tie revision. He also saw her at about 2 months old for a lip tie revision. We went yesterday for a follow-up appointment with Dr. Butler and he was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Over the past 2.5 months I've done a lot of research regarding tongue/lip ties because I knew nothing about them and their treatment. I've worked with lactation consultants, a chiropractor, and have also been apart of a support group for parents with children with ties. I'm also an RN, so I know better than to believe everything I read on the internet regarding health concerns. When I voiced my concerns about my daughter still having many symptoms of a tongue tie and the possible need for further revision, Dr. Butler laughed in my face and alluded to be being gullible to everything I read on the internet. He treated me like I was ignorant. He did not listen to me. He interrupted me and argued with me to the point where I had to ask him to stop interrupting me. I told him I was concerned that my daughter might also have buccal (cheek) ties and he began to look under her tongue to assess her. Excuse me, but he should have been assessing her cheeks to look for buccal ties. My daughter has many symptoms of a tongue tie, but mainly trouble nursing. Dr. Butler lazily explained that some infants "just don't nurse well" and alluded to her having some underlying condition such as a congenital heart defect to explain why she may have trouble nursing. I believe it was very unprofessional for him to nonchalantly use such a serious condition as an example of what could be wrong with my daughter when I was blatantly explaining the symptoms that are obvious of children with tongue ties. He said he would refer me for a second opinion and then stormed out the door with no further remarks. I was in tears by the time he left the room. My mother was with and we both couldn't believe how poorly Dr. Butler treated me. I have spoken with his office's office manager and informed of the incident. Needless to say, we won't be back. Wow. Well first off let me start with the GOOD portion of our experience. Dr. Butler was AMAZING, he and the Anesthesiologist who performed my daughters surgery when she had her tubes put in her ears were great, even asked if they could pray for her which I found very touching and reassuring that she was in truly good hands. But now lets fast forward to today, 10 months post surgery. I called on Monday requesting an appointment WITH DR. BUTLER, to have her tubes checked as she is complaining of ear pain and "that there is something in her ear." I called again on Tuesday after receiving no return call and finally received a call back yesterday afternoon. Crystal scheduled an appointment for my child for 11:00 the following day (today.) Well my wonderful Mother had to go pick her up from daycare (because I couldn't leave work today but REALLY wanted my child's ears checked) and they arrive and the office and from what I understand even waited a few moments before Crystal informed her that she had made the appointment with the wrong doctor and apparently this Doctor isn't as caring and refused to "follow up" with another Doctors patient, we'll call this Doctor Dr G. So now my child has been turned away IN PAIN due to the incompetent staff at then Gainesville office. Extremely frustrated and highly disappointed in the blatant lack of care and regard for my child's well-being, as well as our personal time. Wow.
