Dr. Shickman I’d good but his office staff is horrible! The office manager is disrespectful and unhelpful. They didn’t note my file correctly and there was an $8 fee that I disputed. I have been in to Dr. Shikhman's office three times. All he has done is sold me supplements that do nothing. Twice I have been told he wants blood drawn and both times I have been told there was a problem and someone was "working on it". Nobody will tell me what the problem is however. This has been going on since February. When I ask to speak to Dr. Shikhman on the phone, I am told I cannot - he does not do telephone calls. When I try to set up an appointment via telemedicine, I am told he does not do that either. So I am left with a lot of very expensive supplements and two blood draws that, "have a problem". It seems to me that this is extremely unprofessional if not questionable in terms of standards of care in the medical community. I will not be returning (obviously) to his office which is "too busy" to tell me what is going on with my health. I have been in to Dr. Shikhman's office three times. Dr. Shikhman gave me my real diagnosis and my quality of life back . I went for 7 years prior to discovering him with misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis suffering needlessly trying to get out of pain. My first visit he had me pretty figured out and verified through proper testing. It was a relief to know I wasn't crazy or causing psychosomatic symptoms. I'm so truly thankful for his brilliance and passion for research. I encourage anyone who is having mystery symptoms that are being written off by other physicians to please go see Dr. Shikhman. Dr. Shikman and his wife have extraordinary medical talent. I was so lucky to be referred to him, after years of unresolved diagnosed and approximate medical opinions, blaming my immune system for my constant joint pain in my hands and hips. At our first meeting, Dr. Shikman took very copious notes and investigated my health and history. I had never received such close medical attention by any specialist in any country before. Not only I found out about my collagen genetic defect but I was able to relate with a global community of Marfan’s disease sufferers. He also ran genetic testing for celiac, which had tested negative a dozen time, and apparently these were false negatives. I changed my diet and avoided the hard type of exercise that affect my joints like ballet and tae kon do. Dr S. also did a pain reduction sensitization session which dramatically decreased neuron receptors for pain, and I was pain free within a week. I owe Dr Shikman my health and my life quality. I am a new patient here and have so far been very pleased with the care I have recieved over the past month. PA Neenah is a caring and competent communicator in person and thru the patient portal online. The whole staff that I have interacted with so far have all been attentive, kind and responsive. I went to 7 doctors before I was Introduced to Dr. Shikhman and his staff. He was the only one who cared enough to stick with me and really dive down and see what was going on with my body and help. Did not even make an appointment with me. Decided not to treat me and told me to go back to my primary physician. These people are jerks.

I had an appointment booked for 4 months and then received a phone call that Dr. Shikhman had decided not to treat me. I was told that my appointment was cancelled and that if I wanted to I could email him. I am a cash patient and was told that he didn’t even remember why he decided not to see me but it must have been a good reason! I have been waiting over a year to be treated by him. I asked for a referral to someone else that specializes in his kind of medicine and was told to get a referral from my insurance company. I've not seen Dr. Shikhman yet but his PA Neenah has been highly professional and knowledgeable for Lyme. If you've been tagged with the "fibromyalgia" or "CFS" aka "your disease doesn't match my medical textbook" or "let me recommend a therapist" this place maybe your answer.

I highly recommend Dr. Shikhman. He truly is an excellent doctor! He was the first to diagnose a gluten insensitivity after seeing numerous doctors for 2 years. He is excellent.

Dr Shikhman saved my life! After a 3 minute conversation he knew what I had, he did blood tests and was spot on! I had seen a dozen doctors over 4 1/2 years, ending with an insinuation "it's all in your head" in spite of a long list of physical symptoms. I had deteriorated from a very healthy, physically fit woman to a weak, thin, pale whisper of myself. I was unable to hold a thought or finish a sentence. I thank God for this amazing doctor!!! I always joke that Dr Shikhman is the real Dr House, but with a much better bedside manner. He is an extremely caring human being who never stops working. When he is not seeing patients, he is burried in his research. My 15 year old son became quite ill last year. He was taken to Rady’s Children by ambulence last October. He remained there for just under a week. He was released with the wrong diagnosis. From November, 2017 to February we saw multiple specialist. Everyone had a different opinion and they all recommended that we see other specialist. By the time we got in to see Dr Shikhman in February my son was dying. He had a parasitic infection that was wide spread. Dr Shikhman recognized a mark on his back and leg that he identified as a symptom. He ran a series of blood test and sure enough the doc was right. Yesterday was one year since my son was hospitalized. He is now smiling and laughing again. Little by little he is regaining his health. I’m so thankful for Dr. Shikhman. He is the reason that I still have my son. His office and staff are unbelievably caring and kind as well. I only wish that I could clone this office. After my initial $600 appointment with the PA, my follow-up was with Shikhman. He walked into the examination room clearly preoccupied with other matters. He stood against the door, quickly ran through the lab results, told me to avoid certain foods, take a $150+/month probiotic for 6 months, and then return for retesting and treatment. I've been suffering for a decade, now I'm supposed to wait 6 months for treatment? What's the point of retesting if there's no treatment? I felt like there was no care and compassion. The time with him was at most 10 minutes for $155 fee. Shikhman's wife, Galina, manages the office. She's unable to take constructive criticism and defends Shikhman's practices. How can the service improve if you don't listen to your patients and address your weaknesses? Finally, Shikhman seems to be having difficulty in retaining talent. If you feel stuck with your medical issues, then let Dr. Shikhman come to the rescue. He can solve problems that other doctors don't understand.

After initial $600 appt w/ PA, my follow-up was w/ Shikhman. He walked into the room preoccupied w/ other matters. He stood against the door, quickly ran through lab results, told me to avoid certain foods, take $150+/mon probiotic for 6 months, & then return for retesting & treatment. I've been suffering for a decade, now I'm supposed to wait 6 months for treatment? What's the point of retesting if there's no treatment? I felt like there was no care & compassion. Time w/ him was at most 10 min.

One star is too much for him. Please read my complete rating on google at the google rating. I don't think you should trust your health to a mean Dr. like him.

Dr. Shikhman is very thorough and truly cares about his patients well being.

Dr. Shikhman has been like sunshine on a rainy day for my whole family. He has diagnosed us and has discovered our health issues that we have been battling for years. The staff is so sweet and caring and always welcome me with warm smiles and take a great interest in my progression and how I'm feeling. I recently moved to Arkansas and fly home just to see him. His knowledge and expertise is a notch above the rest and it feels so great to finally have answers and someone that wants to help.

If I could put zero stars I would! I called to make an appointment, was told he was booked out for three months. I then asked if he takes Medi-Cal (state health insurance) and was told by the receptionist he doesn't. I said "Okay, I'll pay out of pocket for my visit then in three months, please go ahead and put me on the calendar." The receptionist said, "I'm sorry, he doesn't see patients with Medi-Cal." I reiterated, "I understand, I will pay out of pocket." She said, "He doesn't see patients with Medi-Cal." Of course I asked why and she couldn't give me an answer. WHY IS A DOCTOR NOT LETTING ME INTO HIS OFFICE WHEN I AM OFFERING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET?!! Does he think just because I have insurance from the state that I am some loser who doesn't deserve medical treatment? Hope someone from the office reads this because the ONLY REASON I AM ON MEDI-CAL is because I HAVE GOTTEN SICK AND HAVE LOST ALL MY MONEY, MY HOME, MY CAR and I cannot afford heath insurance anymore due to undiagnosed illness. Dr Shikhman is a great doctor. He figured out my medical issue as well as the solution (no other doctor was able to). I'm 100% better now thanks to him. If you're far, it's worth the drive.

For 4 years I went from doctor to doctor and no one knew what was wrong with me. I got to a point where I needed to leave my job because of my issues. Most of the doctors I saw thought I was just depressed or a hypochondriac, then I googled the best doctor in San Diego for mystery diseases. Dr. Shikhman came up first. My first visit he had a strong opinion of my illness and he was right. I have been seeing him for 1 1\2 years now and with trial and error he has me on a good track. I have Chronic Lyme Disease and most doctors do not recognize this disease especially in California, but he stands by me, listens to me and above all prescribes holistic meds before RX drugs. Dr. Alexander Shikhman is gifted with vision of comprehensive evaluation. If your condition falls under his specialty of care, he WILL save you! He will spend time listening to you! He is the only medial doctor I have met (and I have met many!!!) who has the genius and motivation to help you feel better. He is extremely compassionate. Dr. Shikhman has saved my life more than once. Every day I am alive to be with my children, I owe him!!!!! I am grateful and honored to call him my physican.

I love this Dr. He's definitely an expert in his field. He discovered my Sjogren's was potentially caused by dormant infections and could be reversed. He found the gene mutation that makes me more susceptible to Celiac and told me to go gluten free, which has helped so much. I never knew how much connected to my AI issues. He also put my on LDN, when many Rheumy's laugh at you for even bringing it up. If you are struggling with AI and are in pain - GO SEE HIM!

Consultation $600.00 that you have to pay on top of your co pay before you see him. Follow up appointment $155.00 Laboratory, thousands of dollars for tests I really doubt I needed them. He is not friendly, or empathetic. He doesn't invest much time with you. Worst experience ever with a doctor!!!

I went thru Dr. after Dr. with no luck in my diagnosis, within 5 weeks Dr. Shickman was able to diagnose what other Dr.s couldn't. After a regiment

Christine is just a firecracker of hope when walking into the clinic that made the gloom fade away. I thought she was my doctor not assistant by her professional candor coupled with exuding warmth.

Amazing, intelligent doctor. I've sent my friends to him and he has been able to diagnose conditions accurately many other doctors missed.
