Mr. Albert Owen Edwards

Dr. Edwards treated me for macular hole repair, vitrectomy, and cataracts. I vision is orders of magnitude better than before. He is well credentialed and an exemplary technician. I would highly recommend him.

The experience I had with Dr. Edwards was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever had in the medical field. Following a bout of sinusitis that led to a bacterial infection in my eyes I was experiencing blurry vision. I was referred to the on-call Ophthalmologist following treatment in the ER, and by the time I was able to see Dr. Edward’s I was nearly complete with my antibiotic treatment and had no symptoms of conjunctivitis- but my blurry vision persisted. Dr. Edwards asked if I was sexually active and after I confirmed that I was he also asked me if I was a student, which I am. He spoke to his technician and promptly diagnosed me with “chlamydia” despite never asking my sexual history and failed to listen to the fact that I have been regularly tested for several years to release my birth control, at one point even telling me “false negatives occur frequently, just because you were tested elsewhere does not mean you will test negative here.” He left me in the room with his technician who he then asked to Google chlamydia in front of me while I waited over an hour for him to procure eye swabs to test me for chlamydia in my eyes. When he finally arrived with the swabs, he also Googled how to perform the swab in front of me before he opened my eyes with his bare hands to obtain a sterile sample. Not only was this swab extremely painful, but he promptly dropped the swabs on the ground in front of me and had to redo them. I left Sterling Vision without any answers as to why my vision was blurry, and with no treatment other than a very expensive and lengthy prescription to treat chlamydia. When I asked if it was necessary to take these antibiotics Dr. Edwards tried to assure me that while he was not certain that I had chlamydia it was the most probable cause and “if in the small chance” my results came back negative I could discontinue the use of the antibiotics. I was told I would receive a call with my results as their patient portal is conveniently down, and when I never received a call, I called back and was told they would not discuss results with me. It was not until I complained about my experience that I was told that not only did my results come back negative, but no bacterial growth occurred at all, meaning that by the time I saw Dr. Edward’s I did not have conjunctivitis. After seeing a second Ophthalmologist it was discovered that I had also recently suffered a minor corneal abrasion, most likely due to the improper swab he performed during my visit. If you care about bedside manner and want the optimal care from your doctors, do not visit Sterling Vision.

Dr. Edwards gave me straight answers to my questions. That helped me cope with the ongoing eye issue.

I appreciated the Dr. Edwards' highly competent and friendly and numerous staff. Dr. Edwards' careful analysis of my eye condition and willingness to discuss it thoroughly with my husband and me was important and reassuring.

From initial outreach for an appointment to completion of treatment I saw great service and care from Dr. Edwards and the rest of the team at Sterling Vision.

Dr. Edwards and his staff are professional and knowledgeable; responsive with no time wasted. He keeps his eye on my AMD and has changed medication as needed--my vision remains stable. My only complaint is his new office--it is cold and sterile, without any of the warmth and friendly feeling that helps blunt the off-putting medical office feeling.

I have been a patient for several years and have ALWAYS felt well cared for by Dr. Edwards and the rest of the staff. Everyone is pleasant, upbeat and courteous.

Dr. Edwards is always very professional. He is up to date on the latest treatments. I find him to be very through in the treatment of my macular degeneration. He is quick to adjust treatments as needed.

I was able to get an appointment quickly and the testing and exam were thorough. I would give it a 5 star if I hadn't felt so rushed and that my questions and concerns weren't an annoyance to the doctor. Maybe he was really exhausted and rushed that day. He still gets 4 stars for being the best care provider in retinal care.

Dr Edwards is an excellent ophthalmologist . He has, through injections in my right eye, given me my vision back. He is a very competent doctor and has a superior staff at his clinic. He is a fine man and compassionate doctor.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Albert O. Edwards for his excellent treatment of macular degeneration. Dr. Edwards has an impressive educational background . I have been his patient for 5+ years, and I have received frequent eye injections . He has successfully controlled the disease. He has literally saved my eyesight, and he continues to assure my comfort during the procedures. The office is well run. One is respected, as an individual, and waiting times are kept to a minimum. The support staff couldn’t be more friendly or supportive. I am grateful for having this fine doctor in our community.

Dr.Edwards and staff have been treating my right eye for macular degeneration for about seven years. Treatment was initially was once a month but the MD has been stabilized and appointments have been pushed out to once every three months. l couldn't be happier with the care I receive. Staff is friendly, professional, and the office is run very efficiently. Wait time rarely exceeds 5 to 10 minutes. We're fortunate to have someone of Dr. Edwards' caliber and expertise, along with a great staff, in the Eugene-Springfield area.

Doctor Albert Edwards has been treating me for Diabetic Macular Edema and Diabetic Retinopathy among other eye problems successfully since 2015. He is very professional and knowledgeable. I am confident in his superior skills, credentials, professionalism, and training. His large staff sees me with little wait time when I have an appointment. I was moved from "station" to station efficiently, and never had to wait long since I have been seeing him as a patient. His staff are very well trained and personable. I highly recommend Doctor Edwards. I am happy that he took me on as a patient and you will too.

Dr. Edwards was the consummate professional in all respects. The surgery was totally pain free. Results were exactly as he predicted. I'm fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Edwards.

Great eye doctor and surgeon. Explains procedures and uses new new procedures for repairing macular holes. I have had the procedure and was very pleased with the results. The process is not difficult and not as worrisome as it sounds. So glad macular holes can be repaired. I would recommend Dr. Edwards.

Dr. Edwards was recommended to me by my optometrist when I developed macular degenteration. I never felt adequately informed by Dr Edwards about the relative progression of my condition. He was abrupt and dismissive. When, during one examination, he became actually verbally abusive I decided to look elsewhere for care. I have spoken to several people since who have had similar experiences. I believe Dr Edwards is a very skilled retinologist, but suffering from some kind of personality disorder.

Following a six month unsatisfactory expeience with another reginologist I was examined and accepted by Dr. Edwards for continuing care of my eyes which had wet macular in one and dry macular in the other. His approch was straight forward in reducing the wet macular condition with monthly injections, which were administered with minimal discomfort, combined with an ongoing monitoring of the dry macular eye to protect my functioning vision in a combined scientific and medical approach.

I have had 2 major procedures done by Dr. Edwards, both successful. I appreciate his professionalism and his patient respect. You can ask him any question even if it may sound funny and he will answer with the utmost respect. He is matter of fact and I like that.
