Dr. Alan L. Schocket

This guy is allergy/immunology. He teaches his residents to not ask questions. His opinion on the eosinophilia was, "It must have been something you took." End of inquiry and failing the resident; teaching nothing; allowing patient to suffer long-term, no end in sight. An outside provider helped diagnose multiple allergies in one visit. UCH needs an overhaul or residents will never learn enough to LEAVE the place.

My daughter sought information and monitoring of a rare immune disorder she has, but was met with condescension, dismissiveness and borderline ridicule all cloaked by shallow joviality. He did not consider her concerns and presented what I feel were bogus statistics. Two weeks later she experienced a deterioration of her condition, was attended by a family doc in remote northern Minnesota and received far more attentive care. And was diagnosed with a more severe version of her condition. He begrudgingly agreed to perform a blood test, but staff were inept and failed to successfully obtain blood draw.

I was questioned and addressed as if I were a number not an human, and with so little attention paid to my answers that I'd be asked the same questions by the same person within minutes of my first answers being acknowledged - verbatim, not as verification, and even if they'd just typed my answer into the system . It was similar to talking to an old 411 operator. This fellow didn't even know how I'd come to see them and had to ask what I meant by referred and then who referred me. They seemed to just be going through the motions and spent the most time and energy educating on what they do and how based (only) on what I could offer it didn't sound like an allergy. I'd made this appointment following a referral for 'food allergy' testing being submitted by the family practice clinic as a step in figuring a recurring reaction out: I was supposed to be able to walk in, be administered a standard food panel test, and be told yes I have allergies or no I don't. Instead I spent way too much time having to justify why I was there for an allergy test at all to not just be sent away, was lectured for expecting them to know what I'd be tested on, and in the end was tested only on 2 ingredients I could mention noticed changes for but which didn't start or stop the reaction, and I had to push to get any testing at all. I still don't know if I have allergies -just that I don't to those 2 ingredients, and they seemed put off for my being so put off over it all.
