About Dr. Alan R Bank
Reviews for Dr. Alan R Bank
Staff was very nice and I didn’t wait long at all
Great Doctor, and i believe the nurse who interviewed me was also great. The girl who scheduled my procedure, not so pleasant. Telling me what I shouldn't do with my body and not to have the endoscopy, because she feels it's not necessary. Not to mention she scheduled me for a colonoscopy in April, does it really take 3 months to have an colonoscopy. Don't think so. I will be reaching out to the doctor on this. Or maybe I will get a call from them, if anyone actually reads this.
I have been a patient of Dr Bank for over 20 years and I have always been very satisfied with his treatement.
Caring. Knowing friends
Discussion with patient & Provider
the G.I SPECIALIST ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS
Keeping appointments very close to on time not keeping us waiting in the waiting room or in the room to see the doctor for very long.
Dr Banks actively listened and the explained in great detail. My husband and I who both had appointments left completely happy with the visit and the superior communication.
Nice doctor. The office is clean and comfortable. Everything was discussed and made sense. No fancy words or lingo. Never felt lost. The doctor was easy to talk to and shared everything with me.

Dr. Bank and everyone in the office were extremely kind, caring and helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here.
Dr. Bank is a consummate professional. His expertise, experience and judgement are demonstrated by his ability to quickly assess my condition and the test results I provided. I trust his judgement. Highly recommend Dr. Bank to anyone!
Dr. Bank is amazing! He is always, respectful and attentive to my needs. Hard to find a Dr. these days that care for his patients like Dr. Bank. The staff is also very professional and caring.

Great communication, and pleasant team. Best Gastro Dr. in South Florida.
The staff is amazing! From the check in to when I left everything ran smoothly. Dr. Bank is very easy to talk to, he explains everything about your diagnosis and he is very attentive to your concerns.
Sufficient time spent
Dr. Bank and his team are great. Dr. Bank is a very experienced and also a Dr. of integrity that will tell you truthfully if you need a particular procedure or not. He came highly recommended by a few colleagues of mine and I was very thankful for getting in to see him.
Dr Bank is a class act however his associate Dr Levy is probably the most unprofessional rude arrogant vile Dr I have ever had the displeasure of speaking with! I highly recommend Dr Bank but steer clear of Levy! In addition I was not pleased with Dr Bank’s assistant due to negligence on her part! As for the office staff it might groove the office manager to institute sensitivity training with the staff, and perhaps Dr Levy could derive a much needed education from it as well!

Everyone is extraordinary at this practice. They take the time and listen to your needs and concerns and slow and methodically develops a plan the best suits your needs for your conditions.
The Staff was very professional. The intake nurse was very caring and compassionate.
Dr. Bank is very easy to talk to and explains your diagnosis and procedures well. I trust his judgment.
Be real careful about charges/copays from this office. They charged my husband a copay for a colonoscopy consult that his insurance EOB says should have been $0 and now I have to fight to get it back. I would have given a 1 star review except that Dr. Banks, himself is a good doctor.
The caring and loving attention
Dr Bank is a wonderful caring doctor who makes you feel very comfortable even when you are asking the most embarrassing questions and are worried about your symptoms. He has a lot of patience and a good sense of humor as well. He has been my doctor for many years and I know I can trust his professional opinion.
Arrogant, rude, argumentative without cause and doesn't listen. The staff is equally incompetent. Watch out for the shiesty billing tactics.
11/2018. This doctor does not personally return calls and has incompetent staff that do. I went there very, very sick, and they confirmed a SIBO infection with an in-office test. Doctor said I needed a very $$$$ drug . I asked the woman in charge of the process what I needed to do and was told I needed to fill out an application but not to worry. A few days later I called to check on the process and when I asked her what can I do, she told me it was taken care of. Over the next "few weeks" feeling really sick, when I called to check, I was told to be patient. Finally, on a Friday at 4:58 pm a pharmacy called who said they worked with the doctor's office and told me the holdup was due to they had never received an application from the dr's office. Monday, I called the office again and was told it was being handled and to be patient. Very, very upset I called the drug company. A supervisor told me she had no application and without it I could not get the drug. I told her I had heard from a pharmaceutical rep the prescription was processing. The supervisor requested I fill out an application and fax it to her. A week later she called and told me the office was not returning her calls. FED UP I faxed the doctor explaining everything. The next day I received a call to pick up samples, which ended up being the entire prescribed dosing. When finishing the two-week dosage and not feeling so great, thinking I had been sick a long time before starting meds, I called the doctor's office to ask if I should extend the medication. The reply was "go get another opinion." A letter dismissing me from the practice arrived a few days later. Whenever I had called there and asked a simple question, his inexperienced PA could not answer it. The messages were incorrectly taken down, because the return calls didn't reflect the original question. Dr. Banks was aware his office staff couldn't answer questions. I asked the PA to repeat back the question. when the answer came back, that was abundantly clear the PA didn't get it. Exhausting..... I compared my situation with the person who had recommended this doctor, and my angst was confirmed when it was revealed that key people who used to work for Dr. Banks who were described as "knowledgeable and wonderful," were no longer there and that my experience with his office staff was much different. I asked around to further confirm this information and it was corroborated. Years ago I went to another physician in that practice, Fiedler. When the PA mentioned I'd seen him, I told him I didn't care for the doctor because he had an attitude and couldn't answer a few basic questions, and I thought it was because he was young and new to the practice. The PA's response was, "You are the third person 'today' to tell me this about this doctor." A few days before that letter came I sadly had come to the conclusion that I had no choice but to move on. It had been one debacle after another. I went to another gastero doctor for a second opinion, and the staff was knowledgeable, educated and credentialed. The PA was like an encyclopedia . When the doctor came in, all my questions were answered respectfully. The care that I am receiving elsewhere now in no way, shape or form remotely resembles the care I received from Dr. Banks and his office staff. The woman responsible for processing drug requests to be sent to the drug companies should have been "fired, " with all the lies she told, not the patient dismissed. I began to get suspicious of her dealing with such an expensive drug that "I just couldn't seem to get." I heard from a drug rep who told me to be patient but never submitted an application. As for the doctor, he had no problem dismissing a sick patient in the middle of treatment. It got to the point I didn't know who was on first there. People don't write poor reviews because they get up in the morning and decide to be mean. The competence of your staff is a reflection of your empathy towards people. Not every patient is uneducated, old and mindless. 11/2018. This doctor does not personally return calls and has incompetent staff that do. Respectful and professional very detailed and very friendly staff. I felt very welcomed. Not to many places are at this level of professionalism.
This office gets an A+! Dr. Bank and Carmen went out of their way to properly diagnose and tackle my concern. Highly recommend
I have always loved Dr Bank. He is the best and caring, compassionate
Listening to me. You are attentive when the patient is describing the symptoms and extremely helpful with the prescriptions.
I've been a patient of Dr. Bank for about 4 years. I find him refreshingly straightforward in his medical explanations and I never feel hurried or rushed during an appointment. The only very minor criticism I have is sometimes it takes several days to get a prescription refilled requiring Dr. approval.
He does not listen to you he knows it all attitude He basically called me a liar told him I wanted a refund he said fine never got the refund ripped me off 100 for nothing Stay away he is rude
I saw him for a few years - was very impressed with him and thought we had a great relationship. Then for reasons unkown to me though I asked he didnt' want me as a patient!!! Very strange without an explanation when all seemed to be going fine.
EDIT: My sincerest apologies to Dr. Bank. If what I'm told is true, then none of the blame is owed to him. The attitude and refusal to assist my mother is all on the nurse she spoke to. Apparently, she never relayed my mother's concerns to Dr. Bank. She just took it upon herself to decide what was the best prep kit for my mom. And that being the case, I do hope she was fired. Though, from what I read in the comments, it seems like Dr. Bank is fully aware of his incompetent staff. EDIT: My sincerest apologies to Dr. Bank. I have been seeing Dr Bank for 20 years! He is a pleasure ! Wonderful dry sense of humor and has been taking very good care of me for my preventative colonoscopies . My husband recently became his patient also and is very happy with him. He makes an unwelcome procedure, everyone hates, so much more tolerable!
I read the reviews and was kinda nervous going in but I went in anyway. The receptionist was super friendly and nice. So it was time to go back and meet the Dr. His nurse assistant was super sweet and friendly and funny and very likable we went over all my complaints and then it was wait time for the DR. He came in introduced himself and went over my records. He was super thorough, super nice , great bedside manor and NOTHING absolutely NOTHING like he reviews revealed him to be. Great sense of humor that made me feel totally at ease. While I am still kinda looking and peeking around for the rude staff I go to another office where she gets my scripts ready. She was amazing we laughed and talked and she explained everything very well to me. Ok so scheduling was next went in there she to was great. People don’t believe the negative this office is AMAZING and so is Dr Bank !! I highly recommend.
2 hours late Office visit No apologies No show For colonoscopy Procedure No apologies
I had my first colonoscopy/endoscopy done by Dr. Bank. The first opening available for the procedure was a month from the office visit. I was told that I could call for any cancellations. I was okay with the date bc I really did not want this done. I was the big 50! And was having problems. The office is run like a well oiled machine. The appointment is made, you are made aware of your insurance co-pay, a prescription for the prep is given with a very handy Step by step guide explaining the prep and what to expect. The prep was SUPREP. The prep was grape flavored and not the best tasting. It’s a 2 day prep and it was easier than I thought. Drinking Boost the first day helped. The day of the colonoscopy Dr.Bank was a few minutes lates but took the time to explain the procedure. I met the anesthesiologists who also explained his role and the nurse. All in all I had a good experience and I would recommend Dr.Bank. He has Good bedside manners and cares for his patients.
My mom was scheduled for her first colonoscopy, the idea of which has always stressed and frightened her. It took a long time for my mom to finally reach the point of being comfortable enough with getting this done. She conquered her anxieties. So she doesn't deserve a doctor with an ego that's just as outrageously inflated as his stubbornness. With as scared as my mom was to even have this procedure done in the first place, you'd think any doctor's office would want to ensure the patient stays as calm and relaxed as possible. You'd think that. Instead, when my mom politely and very reasonably requested a different prep method, she was told "This is the only method Dr. Bank does. He won't change it for you or anybody." Except there are a variety of techniques, all of which work just fine depending on the individual. For example, my mom and I have extremely sensitive guts. The tiniest simulation of our bowels works. Anything more makes us ill. My doctor listened. Banks refused. Not ok.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bank's for 5 years and he is great. His staff has always been helpful as well. I highly recommend him if you want a doctor who cares and is honest about your health condition.
This is one doctor I will never see again. I saw Dr. Bank for very symptomatic acid reflux, not improved with PPRIs, diagnosed by laryngoscopy by an ENT. Dr. Bank was arrogant and dismissive. Spending a maximum of five minutes With me, Dr. Bank basically told me he had little regard for the diagnosis by an ENT, that the lump I felt in my throat was anxiety (this was only one of my symptoms) and that I could try other antacids. He ignored all other symptoms and focused only on the sensation of a lump in my throat, Went to someone else and after a thorough review of my history and medications, an endoscopy, swallow studies, and a 24 hour ph probe, I was diagnosed with moderate reflux. I was advised to stop a relatively new medications I was on to see if this helped. While I’m still mildly symptomatic, stopping that one medication improved symptoms by 80% without the use of any anti reflux medications. I would give Dr. Bank no stars if this had been an option.
I had to wait 1.5 hours before he came into the room without even an acknowledgement for the long wait!! When I asked the desk how much longer her answer was, “I don’t know “ He spent about 3 minutes with me. I’m going to switch to another practice. There are other fine Drs in the area with better office staff.
Dr. Bank is a great doctor but the staff is the worst in customer service. They won't explain anything or even make an effort to listen. Something as simple as making an appointment is excruciating.
Worst staff I have ever seen and Alan Bank is a money hungry coward who cares nothing about his patients well being! If you are ever reffered to him stay away and make sure you tell your friends! He is wonderful & thorough.
Dr. Bank is very nice, caring, professional and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.
This doctor seemed very nice. My experience: he did not call me back ever. His staff are only message-takers. The PA is incapable of dialoguing with you if you ask a question which requires a fact-based answer. The question: Can I continue taking the prescribed drug ending shortly for a SIBO infection due to not feeling much better? The reply was get another opinion," and a letter dismissing me from the practice. In one day found a much better doctor with an educated physician assistant

Dr. Bank has been my gastroenterologist for the last 6 or 7 years. He is a very thorough, empathic, professional physician. He came highly recommended to me from unrelated source. I highly recommend him. I have also felt that his staff has been courteous, professional, and helpful!!
The very best Doctor with the worst, poor and bad quality service Office Staff. The best solution suggested by the staff is to change doctor and slam the window. Its a shame but i have to change him. The worst support for an excellent doctor. I will wait until change in his stuff. Completely inoperant team.

Dr Bank did surgery on my mother after another doctor screwed it up. My mother is doing great and we are all very grateful. You are the best Dr Bank!

From the minute that I called for an appointment, the staff was amazing. I was seen the next morning and my procedure was scheduled in an incredibly timely manner. The entire office staff , could not have been more efficient or kinder. As a nurse, who has had my share of working with doctors for the last 43 years, Dr. Alan Bank is a rare breed. He listened, answered all questions and was extremely personable. I would recommend him as a number one and only choice.
I have never encountered such terrible treatment in all of my life. I was treated like a second class citizen. All this office cares Abou about is money rather than helping and taking care of people. The staff is awful and so is the doctor.

Dr. Bank's is a wonderful doctor unlike his office staff. Not only can you never get a hold of anyone but they're rude as well. I've been calling all day and the answering machine keeps telling me that the office is closed even though the hours of operation is Monday-Friday 9-4
