I would not recommend this person to my worst enemy. Horrible 'doctor' and I use the term very loosely. He has NO idea how to treat Fibromyalgia but as he says "'I know everything about Fibromyalgia" Yeah, right. He doesn't even treat a Fibromyalgia patient with the most common medications prescribed; Lyrica or Savella but instead he went straight for Morphine. He doesn't listen to patients and he's terribly arrogant.

I wish I could give him zero stars! this doctor does not listen to his patients he makes his own symptoms and treats with wrong meds. He is condescending, rude, and has no empathy he claims that all my pain is in my head even when I was diagnosed with a handful of more senior doctors than him.

I’ve been seeing this ‘doctor’ ( and I use the title very loosely ) for over a year now at Hampton VA Medical Center. I thought I was feeling horrible before I began seeing him. That was nothing to what my condition has become since becoming his patient. He is the first and only doctor I’ve known who seems to know everything (in his mind) about fibromyalgia and yet he has failed to treat my condition with the common meds known to successfully treat patients with fibromyalgia; medicines such as Savella, Lyrica, and Nucynta. No, he treats me with Morphine!!! I have felt worse in the past year than when I first began showing symptoms of chronic pain 15 years ago. The research I’ve been doing lately shows that Morphine actually causes more pain for patients with fibromyalgia. I have no confidence in him whatsoever in managing my healthcare. He’s arrogant, condescending and the first thing he does when you go to your appointment is bring out that freaking poster and start explaining how pain works. He even told me one time that pain is your brain’s fear of pain. I don’t have time for riddles!! I’m in pain, I have fibromyalgia and I need a doctor who cares and understands that and Manhapra ain’t the one!!! I think it’s absolutely appalling that we as veterans have sacrificed so much, physically, emotionally and financially and VA brings in people like this to manage and provide us healthcare.

I have seldom met a Dr.who disregarded a patients needs and experience as arrogantly as this man. His advice is and knowledge seem very poor as well, and his personal biases are front and center. Not professional or well informed. I would avoid if possible, very condescending!

I know Dr Ajay Manahapras as a pain management physician,addiction specialist He works @Hampton VA hospital..For the past several years,he's been my pain management doctor,although he has terminated without any choice after 25yrs my pain meds. When I couldn't tolerate the meds he gave instead,he called me a liar,refused to allow me input into my care and even though another physician requested he reinstate my meds,no one can tell him anything. He refuses to listen.He said he hails from Yale Univ
