He propositions his patients for sex in exchange for "help" and medications. I see how he has managed to get a lot of negative reviews removed online. Must be nice to be able to destroy lives with no repercussions...RENO POLICE DEPT and NEVADA MEDICAL BOARD OF EXAMINERS you are complicit.

He propositions his vulnerable patients for sex in exchange for "help" and medications. He claims to be worried about them, aggressively bombards w texts and phone calls, makes them come in for meds on days his office is close and expects a sexual encounter to obtain them. Interesting to see how he has managed to get a lot of negative reviews removed online very recently. Must be nice to be able to destroy lives with no repercussions...RENO POLICE DEPT and NEVADA MEDICAL BOARD OF EXAMINERS you are complicit.

I have been seeing Dr. Assad for 11 years. I have NEVER had a better doctor. Dr. Assad actually listens to me and is very aware of my conditions and what works for me and what doesn't. He is also the only doctor I have ever had that actually answers his own phone calls and knows who I am without having to find and look at my history first. I Can't say enough good things about him. He is truly a rare find and I would recommend him HIGHLY.

For rich family's only. Only takes high-end insurance, and is way to expensive for anyone struggling with a real problem. You should probably keep moving down the list.

Worst psychiatrist experience of my life. He only asked me multiple choice questions and would scream at me when I would try to give more complex answers. He didn’t even ask my medication history and shooed me away with a strange array of new prescriptions after 15 minutes. Truly awful and upsetting experience. Stay far away.

I spoke to them over the phone and gave them my insurance information. I haven't ever had a co-pay aside have 2 insurances but was willing to pay it. I wasn't told about it prior to the appointment and drove in from Fernley. After speaking to the woman I let her know that it wasn't easy for me to get down here and I could pay it to morrow and leave them my debit info. It was a simple yes or no question however I had to wait an hour for them to tell me know. I said thank you for wasting my time and left. WORST NASTIEST DOCTOR EVER! He is rude, always 1 hr late, does not listen, cuts you off, takes personal calls in the middle of your appointment writes a prescription that does not cover the entire month and boots you out. I have severe ADD so am on Adderal, and Welbutrin for depression. Against my wishes, he cut me off Welbutrin and dropped my adderal dose in half that worked great for me from my last doc in SD. When I attempted to discuss this decision with him (like asking to be put back on Welbutrin since my depression is back) he annoyingly hung up his personal call, interrupts me, says (and I quote) "You don't know what you need and you are too young to be on antidepressants for the rest of your life, see you next month" (I'm 32). He is rude, aggressive, doesn't even look at you, and literally does not care about you or your wellbeing whatsoever. I have so many other issues with him Id like to say but this limits how much you can write. This man should have his license revoked!

This is a drop in clinic to use as a LAST RESORT if proper psychiatric care is not available to you. Do not take your children here unless it's an absolute last resort. I was referred her by my CM dept of my insurance, for ADHD testing for my child. He saw no less than 12 patients in the 45 minutes that I was waiting in his lobby. He told me directly that I had a 3pm appt - to which he then told me "You're lucky i'm even seeing you, other providers in this town will make you wait months! If you want her seen today, you can pay cash and not deal with insurance." This is not a provider that specializes in adolescents to any degree. He makes you waste your time telling you that you have a 3pm appt, then yells at you that he's a walk in clinic and not an adolescent doctor and demands cash. Because our community has very few adolescent psychiatrists, this guy is trying to suck our youth into his bi-weekly appt cycle of drugs with no proper psychiatric caree.

I was referred to Dr Abdollah Assad by my insurance. My case manager had reached out to the Dr for adolescent ADHD testing (because most places in town are booked out for 3-5 months at the current time). I called around lunch time and Dr Assad answered the phone. I explained the need for adolescent ADHD evaluation, he interrupted me and said "You need medication today?" and I explained further that I am looking to have it evaluated, not immediately jumping to meds - but okay? He said "Lets do this at 3pm today. Come on it, let's do it at 3pm? You can be here at 3pm today? Yeah?" in a very intense manner. Based on his urgency, I honestly assumed he had a last minute opening or something, but when we arrived at 2:30pm, we learned that this is really just a walk-in clinic for individuals needing immediate psychiatric care & a med clinic. The waiting room had at least 5 individuals waiting for care when we arrived. The receptionist was angry that the doctor had told us to come in, demanding that she doesn't have time to check insurance and said i need to schedule an appointment. So i explained that the doctor told us to come in, asking why he wouldn't have just scheduled our appt. Since my case manager through my insurance had already spoken to the doctor about our need, i thought maybe he just hadn't told her. She left us sitting in the waiting room for 20-30 minutes while the doctor saw a new patient every 5 minutes. In & out, it was a rotating door. With the exception of a new patient, he got about 10 minutes. There was no HIPAA or confidentiality. There is a sliding glass door between the waiting room & the doctor's office. He literally had patients walking in at the same moment others were walking out. After about 30 minutes, the desk lady finally said she would call the insurance and verify it so that we could see about this testing. She was announcing personal information loudly on speakerphone while checking in other patients, checking out patients, and then after awhile, she said the insurance wasn't able to help either. She told me I needed an appt to do the testing, and they needed more notice. So I asked her to schedule an appt, to which she said she needs the doctor to approve that. The same doctor that told me to come in at 3. She asked me if i wanted to see the doctor, so I said SURE. He stood in his glass door staring at me, but never acknowledge me or invited us in to indicate he was ready. I explained to him that I'd just spoken to him, and he'd asked me to come in for a 3 o'clock appointment. I explained the situation that had just occurred with the front desk telling me i need an appointment, to which he agreed that I need an appointment. (Then why tell me to come in????) He then lectured me about how long it takes to get tested in this town and told me I was very lucky that he invited me to come in at 3pm. He then told me that because they couldn't verify insurance, he would be willing to still see us (after the 5 people waiting in the lobby, because it's a walk in clinic) and prescribe her the necessary medication - but that we would need to scrap the insurance and pay cash. He told me that he's the only psychiatrist in town that will diagnose a child in less than several months and again offered that I pay cash. This clinic is probably saving a lot of lives by offering medication to people without the means to seek proper psychiatric care. But when I asked what the process was for diagnosing adolescent ADHD, I was advised that the doctor just asks a few questions and would send us on our way with meds. This is not a provider that can provide proper diagnostic evaluation of adolescents.

I echo what many have said. Just finished my appointment. Rapid fire questions, “we’ll get to that later,” and immediately wrote me a script for something I completely didn’t agree with nor felt comfortable taking. Interrupted me multiple times, would not listen to me. As well as made a comment that if I didn’t take the medication that he prescribed, I would end up like a close family member (who committed suicide). Dude needs to be reviewed. Someone should record him while in session. First and last time I’ll ever go there.

If I could give NO stars I would. The office was unprofessional. Dr. Assad spent all of 5 minutes with me and I received nothing out of it that I already knew. There were cats running all over the office waiting room and there was an obvious smell that meant something was not sanitary. Over 6 months later when I went to grab my medical records they refused to release them to me (which is illegal) and stated that they could only release them to a doctors office. If your insurance doesn't cover this doctor visit you'll be paying out the nose for by-weekly visits. 380.00 for first visit then your required to come back after 7 days another 200 then every two weeks after that 200. That does not include medication.

My family and I recently moved to Reno, and my daughter needed a new provider for psychiatric issues she has struggled with all of her. She is 19. We called every possible psychiatrist in town going at first by name recognition (Renown, Carson Tahoe, and those recommended by Bay area doctors). Guess what? The soonest she could get in was February with any. Most were not accepting new patients and one told us they could see her if only she had Medicaid. We came upon Dr. Assad's name and I read the reviews. We called the office anyway and found she could get in the next week. What choice did we have? My daughter cannot go off her meds and no one else was willing to help. I decided to go with my daughter and I told her, look we have nothing to lose, let's try. BOY am I glad we did! I have no idea how anyone could give his wonderful doctor a bad review. Yes, the office is on a street of homes that maybe don't look like the neighborhood of doctor's office but look across the street - he is directly across from a psychiatric hospital, and it doesn't take a genius to realize that he probably wants to be able to check on his patients who are there. This makes total sense. The office itself is great, there is a huge waiting room with plenty of seating. And they are sofas not uncomfortable chairs. Yes his office has a glass wall but there are blinds that can be closed if anyone is not comfortable. To the person who said they can hear the conversations inside, that is BS, it is soundproof and i would know because I was sitting next to it. Could not hear anything that was going on with the patients before us. The staff was wonderful, just super nice. Dr. Assad blew me away. I am a very hands on mom even though my daughter is an adult and she wishes for me to still go to dr's appointments. I'm a very critical person and have dealt with many psychiatrists in the course of her history. She has been to Stanford docs, the "best of the best" supposedly and most have let us down. i have literally never met a doctor who was so attuned to our concerns. Without going into detail because I will not divulge my daughter's particular health issue, he very efficiently gave us information that we had never gotten before. Dr. Assad is efficient, but he does his job, and he does it very well. If you want a very arrogant Ivy League doctor who is in a pristine office and talks down to you - please don't go to Dr. Assad, he is not for you. This man in one visit gave us answers that we have not been able to get in 10 years with other doctors. He is brilliant and personable and I urge you not to listen to the reviews. Those people should call Renown and wait til Feb. for a visit, and then deal with a doc who talks down to them, maybe that will make some feel better. No thanks we'll stay with this fine doctor. What a find! My family and I recently moved to Reno, and my daughter needed a new provider for psychiatric issues she has struggled with all of her. She is 19. Moved from different state, and came to get old prescriptions renewed that I’ve been taking the last 10 years. Rushed me out the door. Even on first visit. 65$ copay. Requires appointment every single month and if your next appointment and current amount of pills you have doesn’t fall on the day he CHOSES you come next... he wont even write a full month supply. Or Pro-date a prescription to keep it @ 30 day pills. He gave me 23. I despise doctors like this. Just awful. As if medicine is cheap.

I moved to Reno recently, and I went in today to establish care with a psychiatrist. I've been with mental health practitioners for more than 2/3 of my life. I have UnitedHealth Care, and so I have very few practitioners to choose from. My husband drove me here and the first impression I had was that it was extremely sketchy. The building was rundown, the decorations were bizarre (a sign on wall said "Chocolate is cheaper than therapy and you don't need an appointment!") I thought that maybe this could be a diamond-in-the-rough situation where the practitioner has a chintzy office, but was amazing regardless. Until I realized that Dr. Abdollah was with a patient in adjoining room to the waiting room. The treatment room was behind broad sliding GLASS doors. Completely see-through. To make matters MUCH worse - the glass door was open about two feet. I could not only see the session, I could HEAR everything. That is absolutely not acceptable. I was not comfortable at all. I cancelled my appointment after less than two minutes in the office, and my husband and I left and were completely baffled at how that was possible. The setup did not protect patient privacy or dignity. I'm not sure if this negligence is illegal, but it should be. I do not recommend anyone ever seeing this doctor in this location. Always says they didn’t receive fax’s from pharmacy when they did. He will see at least 25 patients during his 3 hrs he’s open. 9-12, then goes to his lake office from 1-5. Always rushing.Clearly a pill mill. He shouldn’t be RX’ing lortab and soma. That’s out of his scope of practice! The positive- if you have questions he will answer them completely.

Waited over an hour then was rudely rushed when finally seen. He only wanted simple answers to all his questions. When done he didn’t explain anything except that he wanted me to take a pill he was prescribing. I went back to my psychologists who profusely apologized for people like that in his profession and for pushing me to see a psychiatrist. Abdollah Assad thought my psychologists was wrong based on a few questions he asked versus years of talk therapy through my psychologists.

Dr. Assad double books patients and over-schedules (6 an hour, as best I can tell). I feel rushed in 10 minutes to say how I am doing. He has never seen me on time. When I mentioned I felt he did not value my time because he has kept me waiting close to 30 minutes each time I come to see him, he had lots of excuses. No willingness to be more accommodating.
