Dr. Aaron Ross Chidakel

This was my best doctor for years-- until he made it clear he doesn't like working with trans people. I wasn't seeking gender affirming care when I approached him about an issue, but he mistook it as such and made clear that he doesn't accept working with trans people such as myself. He also called me (on a line that I have reason to believe was not recorded) to attempted to manipulate me, then accused me of being abusive to him when his anti-trans attitudes were respectfully challenged. When pushed, he admitted he was unwilling to change his attitude toward trans people and our healthcare. Based on his strong anti-trans statements and behavior during our interactions, I cannot recommend strongly enough that trans people avoid his care, regardless of what treatment you're seeking him out for. I went to see Dr. Chidakel about some issues I suspected I was having with my thyroid. I was very impressed with the way he took the time to listen and really talk to me about my issues. He gave me a number of options for treatments and gave me the pros and cons of the medications and gave me some advice about the direction I should take. I recommend Dr. Chidakel to anyone looking for an endocrinologist in the New York area.

I went to see Dr. Chidakel after a family member suggested I see an endocrinologist to address some long standing medical problems that I had been having. I was very impressed with how the doctor talked to me and listened to what was going on with my condition. He suggested a number of treatments, and I am happy to report that I am now feeling much better.

I needed to establish care with a new endo and Dr. Chidakel came recommended via my PCP who is excellent. I knew I was in trouble because I was getting very general answers to my specific questions. Subsequently, he thought it would be best for me to take some time off work to get my health in order while I transition off some meds, and then pulled a 180 when my employer required him to sign a form so that I could take the time away from the office. This kind of passive-aggressive behavior along with ignoring some of my follow up questions is why I will pivot away. I should know have known that any NYC doc accepting new patients with immediate availability is a red flag - Now I understand why.

Unfortunately, I cannot understand how this doc got such great reviews in the past. Could not provide clear rationale for transitioning to me new meds, provided general responses to my detailed questions and ignored some of the other symptoms I continued to mention. Lastly, officially supporting me to take time from work to address my health and then pulling a 180 when he had to complete a form was the last straw. I have never taken the time to contact patient relations at a medical group nor post a bad review, but it was important that anyone seeking care for an endo issue shouldn't have to deal with someone like Dr. Chidakel. Just shocked at the sketchy behavior as he was recommended by my PCP who is an excellent doc. Any NYC doc who is accepting new patients and has immediate availability is a red flag - I should have known better.

Horrible. Scheduled appoitmen a month ago, just to get cancellation notice in mychart. No phone call or explanation. Next available appoitment is June 2nd. I think I’ll pass...very unprofessional.

The visit was very short, he told me that I need a blood test and thyroid ultrasound. I never heard from him again. I called few times and the staff gave him a note to call me back and go over the US and blood results, but he never called me back. I had few questions that I wanted to ask him. I would not go back to him again.

Dr Chidakel is the best Endocrinologist at NYU he is knowledgeable, advanced in his field and offers many different options to take care of your situation! He is personable and has excellent bedside manners! Thank you for everything Dr

I really think he’s a very personable dr takes his rime to know your history and came highly recommended ny my rheumatologist. Takes the time to answer questions. Really like him

Stay away from Dr. Aaron R. Chidakel! The worst encounter with a physician I have ever encountered. He rushed through my appt. when he didn't read all the notes on my thyroid scan (where the technician recommended a biopsy) and I pointed out there was more on the paper, this idiot went ballistic. Started to insult me because I was from Ohio to trying to make it sound like I was just going through menopause (although my testing showed I wasn't and still get monthly periods). Run away!
