Dr Bates was very pleasant. He explained my condition in layman turns. He gave me a plan of how we were going to take care of my shoulder. He explained all my options and advised me of what he thought was best for me. The only negative thing I have to say is he was behind with his schedule. I waited an hour past my appointment time before I was seen.

Dr. Bates is a great doctor even though I don't think he likes me, that doesn't not mean I don't like him he is good at what he does and I highly recommend him on many levels.

Dr Bates gave me a reverse shoulder replacement after two failed surgeries by JOI. I am so grateful a friend referred me to Dr Bates. Not a simple procedure and the result was great! Dr Bates is thorough, kind, very encouraging and confident.

The only “issue” was the team is very spread out over a few buildings. So make sure you get directions to the office you need. The staff clearly deals with this issue, as they were super friendly in correcting our navigational error.

Dr. Bates did a great job of diagnosing and treating my left rotator. I had two tears along with frozen shoulder. He did a great job of repairing and following up with me. I would never hesitate to use them again.

Dr Bates and his team are very professional. They provide great patient care and are very thorough. My rotator/shoulder is making great progress.

Dr. Bates was knowledgeable about my case. He was also, very pleasant.

My appointment time was at 3, and I didn't see him till about 4-4:15. It's really my only complaint about it. He gets things done & he tells it like it is. I'd love to come back in the future.

The staff was friendly and professional. My Daughter L A Way had told me he was a caring very professional and he did not disappoint, I left knowing I was in good hands.

This doctor knows his stuff. He knows what questions to ask and answers put you at ease. I didn't know I had a bad problem, just thought it was part of aging. Dr Bates explained what my problem was and how we were moving forward to fix it. I was truly impressed and felt confident leaving his office.

I have had two surgeries now from.Dr Bates and he is truly a professional, I would trust no one else. Professional courteous and shows genuine concern for patients

Very professional, kind and courteous. Made sure that I understood exactly what they were saying and why they were prescribing that medication.

Great Staff & top-notch service

Dr. Bates is the only Dr. that's taken time to examine my shoulder and order an MRI. Thank you Dr.Bates for agreeing to take my workers comp claim.

After just one appointment I have complete confidence in Dr. Bates and his team to address my shoulder issues. Dr. Bates knows his shoulders and can clearly articulate a plan of care without a lot of medical jargon. I highly recommend Dr. Bates and his team to others looking for relief from shoulder pain!

This was my first experience with Southeast Orthopedic Specialists, but I would recommend them highly. Dr. Bates and his medical staff, as well as his Admin staff, were kind, professional, very knowledgeable, and LISTENED!

Dr Bates takes time with his patients and listens and answers all questions; He doesn't just jump to surgery as 1st choice and lets you know when there are other options. I feel confident with him

The visit was very good. Professionalism at its finest from all the staff including Mr. Bates. Did not tell me what I wanted to hear told me the truth and I appreciate that very much. That’s why you go to a specialist Of his caliber to get the proper treatment.

I asked that we meet today about a cyst or knot on my knee. he replied he did not know what it was he needed an MRI to determine what it was. You would think he would’ve ordered the MRI he did not his demeanor was not very refreshing today. Because I continue to have pain and he offered me injections I refuse it’s temporary I’m looking for something more permanent. His tone was I said peach he said peaches. I said the Jacksons didn’t work he debated that he did work for me they didn’t work I was speaking in a patient’s term analogy he was correct to me using medical terminology which I thought was a little demeaning. I’ve been referred to Dr. Lincoln which I am looking forward to a better response.

Facility was welcoming, check in was easy, staff was cordial, wait time before being seen was minimal. Dr Bates was openly friendly, was interested in my case, listened to all my questions and made a welcomed diagnosis. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who asks.

I am an Asian and felt unwelcome in his care. I've come to seek care and compassion from Dr. Aaron Bates, but he expressed unfriendly approach regarding my physical conditions. I've always thought doctors took oath to provide care and compassion to people that needs help. On May 04, 2022, I was seen by Dr. Aaron Bates for my ailing shoulder due to degenerative joint disease. After explaining to him my condition, he roughly and forcefully conducted a painful flexion on my dominant shoulder that aggrevated an excruciating pain. He made recommendation to apply an injection or surgery, however, when I asked him for Doctor's note for my being out of work, he made a threatening and intimidating comment. In a hostile gesture, he said, "If you are just asking for my note, I will really pissed (repeatedly), and he proceeded to walk away, avoiding eye contact, while I was still talking. All these were witnessed by his assistant that day. I've honorably served in the military for 20 years and I do not deserve to be disrespected from a doctor who forgotten his oath of becoming a true and respectable professional. I've also felt that I have been discriminated against under his practice because of my race origin. To day, I am feeling much worst about my dominant shoulder. Being out of work for a year now, I am in a lot of overwhelming stress, physically, emotionally and financially. I request a full refund of my co-payment amount and that Mr. Aaron Bates to be counseled by his supervisor about the fundamental tenets of his profession.

My first visit was today and it was good. Dr. Bates was very nice and easy to talk with about my condition. I’m looking forward to my progress.

I have found Dr. Bates himself to be quite knowledgeable and more than adequately skilled as an orthopaedic surgeon. I feel more than confident in his capabilities during operation. However, I sadly cannot say the same about his clinical PA staff. I have no confidence in the care management and oversight of my healing trajectory by his clinical PA. I found the PA in the clinic to be consistently aloof, unprepared, and lacking the knowledge required to guide my healing process in an acceptable manner. I do not feel safe or comfortable under this PA’s extended supervision as my issues were consistently downplayed or disregarded. This was done to the extent where an on-going, abnormal nerve pain issue that arose after surgery was unknown to Dr. Bates until I demanded to be scheduled with the doctor himself and had my most recent checkup with him. This was three full months after symptoms appeared. I would give Dr. Bates five stars and the PA staff one star, but since they cannot be separated I chose the average.

I had an excellent knee surgery with Dr. Aaron Bates. Dr. Aaron Bates is with Southeast Orthopedic Specialists Fleming Island. He is a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. I had injured my knee 17 months ago and had an MRI taken 3 months after that injury. I did not realize that I had injured my knee even more 6 months ago. The MRI did not reflect the latest injury. When Dr. Bates did my surgery he realized more was wrong than what the MRI indicated. He noticed what was wrong and he corrected it. I was better after the surgery and I continue to improve. I was very impressed that he called me later that day after my surgery to simply ask me how I was doing. I would highly recommend Dr. Bates to anyone seeking a qualified and skillful orthopedic with a caring personality.

Wonderful very informative

Dr. Bates is a fantastic orthopedic surgeon. His educational background and specialized training are outstanding. He has been the sports medicine physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars, among several other national, professional teams. He was so nice, and he explained what was causing my knee problems which helped me to understand what was causing them. I highly recommend Dr. Bates.

Dr. Bates is great he done a Rotator Cuff surgey on me and no one could believe how well I started doing so soon after my surgey not to mention my shoulder scars look like small fingernail scratches hardly noticeable. He is awesome and I highly recommend Dr. Aaron Bates.

Outstanding as always

Dr. Bates was direct and concerned. He performed a series of range of motion to measure my tolerance for further treatment. He also got history to how injury happened and scheduled MRI and future appointments to find a solution for pain relief. Very satisfied.

FANTASTIC! Arthroscopic knee surgery. Staff was caring and professional.. Everything was on time. Dr. Bates fixed my knee. Why did I capitalize fantastic? After my 630AM surgery, Dr. Bates personally called me at 7PM that evening to check on me. That is the epitome of somebody who loves their work.

The office is very efficiently run. We feel very confident that Dr. Bates is highly competent and isn't concerned about pushing surgery, but more about the best and easiest way to get results.

I felt nervous at first new doctor syndrome but Dr. Bates came in sat down and explained everything to me he made me understand a lot more about what I needed to have done with my arm . Dr. Bates talked to me not at me and I was so glad that I came to see him.

Dr. Bates was very friendly and educated us very well on the diagnosis given.
