Mrs. Yassar Jomah Kanawati

For years, my bipolar was misdiagnosed as major depressive disorder, and that led to a host of problems. I had a hard time finding a doctor who would listen to me or medicate me properly. My swings were constant, accompanying high anxiety and frequent panic attacks. Then I started working with Dr. Kanawati. In the space of two years and with her tweaking my medication, I no longer have mood swings and my anxiety is manageable. She listened to me every step of the way, and I finally, finally, finally have some stability in my life. I couldn't have reached this point without her honest and compassionate care. An excellent doctor and I owe her so many thanks.

Did not read any of the paperwork I was required to fill out before the appointment. Kept asking basic questions that were already answered on the paperwork but she did not read any of it ahead of time. Very inpersonal and mostly just typed on computer the entire appointment.

Dr. K is amazing!!! She really takes a lot of care and ensures you are on the right medication and dosage! I’ve had other docs that haven’t taken as much care with me. She will ask all of the right questions to make sure you’re doing well! HIGHLY recommend her! She changed my life ❤️

She has a wealthy of knowledge but she is HARD pull pusher. But in my opinion she uses her degree and years of experience have made her jaded and develop mindset that everyone needs pill(s) to slove problems. So if you want a doctor with a low quality care then she is perfect for you!

1 star is already one star too many. She deserves a 0! This doctor needs to go ahead and retire. She is argumentative , combative and provides a low qualify care. During my session she repeatedly mis-diagnosed me. She refused to listen and became argumentative when I voiced in a respectfully manner how her treatment and attitude was not right nor fair. This doctor will be investigated for being a major pill/drug pusher.

I started therapy in the early 80s and began taking medication in the early 90s. Through the years, I've seen several psychologists and psychiatrists both in New York and Atlanta. I've been under Dr. Kanawati's care for a little over two years. Dr. Kanawati is personable and professional. She manages my medication with expertise, knowledge, and insight. I am grateful to work with such a dedicated, compassionate, and thoughtful doctor. I hope to work with her for years to come.

What a waste of time and money - one simple visit has caused me so many issues in the span of 24 hours. Only went here as I had to get a diagnosis on file as I just moved to the state, and was told it was needed for my medication by my PCP. She ended my hour long session in 40 minutes. Started pushing drugs on me within the first 10 minutes - ones completely unrelated to why I was there, and she was doing this based off of what, a few minutes staring at me on the computer? Then asked me 3 more times throughout the conversation if I "made a decision" about wanting new (unrelated) drugs - after clearly stating I'd do my research on them first before just agreeing to start something. But then wouldn't listen to me when she tried to change my actual medication that I need when I told her what she was trying to give me does not work. To top it all off, she then listed an additional diagnosis on my record that was never discussed. I call her and she states she did not diagnose me with it, but then she refuses to update the medical record I was sent that very clearly listed it as a "diagnosis"?! That's called fraud. And also BS. So if you want the wrong drugs pushed at you constantly and more diagnoses than you know what to do with, she's the psych for you!

my daughter had a new patient appointment with Dr. Yassar Kanawati of Peachtree Family Psychiatry Clinic ( 404-249-8496 ). Initially the meeting was supposed to be a face to face 90 minute session, but then it changed to a 45 minute zoom call. Their billing operations looked up my deductibles and told me that it would be $300. I asked why I wasn't paying the co-pay and the lady said that I hadn't made my deductible yet, so it was $300. I paid $300 for a 45 minute zoom call using my HSA card. The other main issue I have is that we weren't asked to sign any paperwork, so Dr. Yassar Kanawati took the appointment without a consent to teat a minor, HIPPA rights, or initial patient forms. She was ready to start giving my daughter a prescription within 25 minutes and without any kind of medical history or allergic/interaction information.

Great Psychiatrist.

Dr. Kanawati is excellent. She listens to me and cares about what I am saying and also manages my medication. I highly recommend her. Intelligent and thoughtful.

Trying to get a copy of an invoice for weeks from Rika, assistant to Dr Kanawati, dating back to November. Most unhelpful. It has to fit her schedule, not considering client.
