Dr. Hines- Hands down the best MD that I have ever had...and there is many. He and his staff has provided care for my family for years. I have moved out of state and have not found a doctor who even comes close to what I was used to with Dr. Hines. Last week I underwent a cancer surgery on my forehead. Today they removed the stitches. Dr. Hines is the best of the best! He and his staff are caring and dedicated to insure the best possible outcome for a patient like me, 81 years old woman. It is ironic, that he is the only locally owned and operated dermatologist in Skagit Co. He does not have a glitzy advertisement like others in the area. Dr. Hines and his small staff made me believe that professional, attentive and personable medical care still exists. Thank you Dr. Hines and your staff for a job well done. My wife and I recently moved to Anacortes from California. Among all the things to do upon moving to a new area, we needed to source and select doctors of various specialties. My predisposition for developing pre-cancerous spots, particularly on my scalp and face, require that I see a dermatologist at least every 6 to 12 months. So, I read about Dr. Hines and his dermatology practice known as Anacortes Dermatology. A few days before my appointment, I spoke on the phone with a very knowledgeable member of the staff who was very cordial, respectful and informative. She made it easy for me to complete the usual pre-appointment paperwork online so that I did not have to do that in their office upon arrival. When I arrived at Anacortes Dermatology, I waited in my car until I was called upon by staff to come into their office. I was referred to Dr. Hines by my family physician who said he thought Dr. Hines was the best in town and also somewhat “unexpected.” That turned out to be true in positive ways. He is an independent doctor, not part of a clinic. So far I’ve had four visits with him and I’ve never been kept waiting. Dr. Hines gets right to the business at hand while conversing with you. In my case, on my first, he took one look at a growth on my leg, told me what he thought it was and that it needed to be biopsied. He did it right then and there and he removed the growth. He explained what he was doing and why. He finished in about 30 minutes. As far as COVID-19 precautions are concerned he’s way ahead of protocols-Dr.Hines and his nurse both wear their own air filtration systems, his exam room has a commercial size air filtration system and an ultraviolet unit to kill germs. Dr. Hines is confident, skilled, personable and puts his patients needs first. When we moved to Anacortes a couple years ago I began searching for a local dermatology practice that was not part of a large, remote medical service organization where it felt like the doctor was rushing your appointment so they could get to the next one. A smaller, “hometown doctor’s practice” that provides a more accessible, personalized level of care was my preference. I selected Anacortes Dermatology. I have felt very confident in the care I have received from Dr. Hines. He is professional but also very personal and caring. Dr. Hines himself has called me with my test results. I am so glad I found Anacortes Dermatology and would highly recommend Dr. Hines.

Dr Hines is super professional in his practice of dermatology. He and his staff were very responsive to treating an imbedded just under the skin, fiber glass splinter. My follow on visit for a skin check was also detailed and thorough. Most impressive to me is the Covid 19 protocol and preparations that are in place. Patient screening, arrival and departure procedures, office cleaning and preparation are impressive. Air filtration systems, after hours ozonation cleaning etc. They are really making his office a safe place to visit. I would highly recommend Dr Hines for any dermatology concerns. Dr Hines and his staff are very efficient and thorough and the office is clean and well adapted to deal with coronavirus issues. Dr. Hines is the most approachable, down to earth physician I've ever used. I drive an hour to see him, though there is no shortage of dermatologists near my home. He's diagnosed problems with my skin that turned out to be demonstrably, potentially catastrophic. Half of medicine is peace of mind, and I'm absolutely satisfied that Dr Hines is more capable, honest, and direct than any other practitioner that I've encountered (and that's saying something).

After a year of struggling with an unknown skin condition I finally ended up in Dr. Hines office and I am so glad that I did! He had me fixed up in a couple of weeks, with relief after only a couple of days! I will never battle out skin related complications with a PCP ever again. I will go straight to Dr. Hines!

I had 3 yrs of on and off cracked and bleeding feet, many visits to six or more different doctors, 3 or 4 bouts of MRSA including two separate ER visits for IV antibiotics and no resolution. One visit with cracked and bleeding feet and six days later the skin was clear and remains clear a year later. Dr. Hines is amazing!

Wonderful Doctor and very knowledgeable

Dr. Hines reminded me of the way good doctors used to provide care. I didn't have the feeling that he was on a clock, so I didn't feel rushed. I didn't feel like just a number. I also felt heard. I felt like he wanted to connect in the way good doctors used to connect with their patients. He spotted a small area on my foot that only an expert in skin of people with lymphedema could have known was not healthy skin. He diagnosed something I never knew and offered a treatment. He also looked at my mother's surgical spot on her hand where she'd recently had Mohs surgery for skin cancer and told her she needed have another biopsy asap. Visiting from east coast and needed help. Incredible customer service, took time to understand patient's needs, provided personal contact information in the event I needed anything in the future (which I did, months later). I wish all doctors were like this!
