I did not post that review! I have much respect for Dr. Tobler and was lucky to have him as my surgeon. He is compassionate and sweet. He is a genius in his field of surgeries! He is caring and takes his time with his patients. Anyone who is seeking perfection would be lucky to have him! I can’t say enough great things about Dr Tobler! If he should retire, I would call that “Wasted Talent” I would hope that he would still teach and be a great help with his knowledge for the future! He is amazing!!!

I HAVE HAD BACK ISSUES FOR OVER 3 YEARS. I HAD 4 SEPARATE PROCEDURES TO AVOID SURGERY AND NONE OF THEM WORKED. MY PAIN WAS SO BAD I WAS UNABLE TO DRESS MYSELF ON SOME DAYS. I WAS IN IN CONSTANT PAIN WITH AN AVERAGE LEVEL OF 7-9. I COULD NO LONGER DO BASIC CHORES AROUND THE HOUSE AND YARD. TO SAY THE LEAST I WAS MISERABLE. I FINALLY DECIDED TO TO SEE DR. Ever wonder how you lived with horrible back pain, soon becoming debilitating? Ever wonder WHY?? Was it fear of pain? Then I got lucky and met a gifted surgeon at the Mayfield Spine Center. Dr. William Tobler, my surgeon at Mayfield. My journey began 3 yrs. ago – after a very active life of tennis and aerobics, I began to have lower back pain. Getting worse, it led me to orthopedic doctors, PT, chiropractic, and acupuncture. Nothing lessened the pain. After 3 epidurals at Mayfield, my journey led me to Dr. William Tobler. Xrays and a mylogram later, Dr. Tobler looked at everything and said, as I held my breath, “I can fix it.” I didn’t know what to say – let’s go!! Surgery at Christ Hospital Spine Center was wonderful! Home 2 days later, already pain free!!! I can’t thank Dr. Tobler enough for taking a chance on me!!! In 2007 while my husband was stationed at WPAFB, I found myself in need of a lumbar spinal fusion. An old stress fracture I suffered in my teens had worn down the discs above and below the fractured vertebrae and my right foot and leg were beginning to go numb. In a bizarre yet serendipitous turn of events, the AF neurosurgeon recognized that it was not safe to do my case at WPAFB, and sent me to Cincinnati. For the rest of my life, I will forever be grateful to the USAF surgeon who would not operate on me in that hospital, and to Dr. Tobler who made immediate room for me on his schedule! At our first meeting in 2007, Dr. Tobler reviewed my charts and the prior surgical plan, examined my spine and quickly determined that an L5-S1 fusion would not be a sufficient repair of the damage. He told us that fusing just the one level would give me less than a year of relief before the disc above the fracture would give way, and I'd likely be back in the OR for another major surgery far too soon. My husband (a surgeon of a different specialty) and I were both immediately very much at ease with Dr. Tobler's knowledge, experience, confidence and bedside manner, and we agreed to an L4-S1 fusion. I recovered from that surgery very, very well and I was able to enjoy a medication-free lifestyle that included a return to full physical function for many years! Fifteen years and two more babies later, the time had arrived for me to surgically address the degeneration and debilitating pain in my right SI joint, a not-uncommon problem for both post lumbar fusion patients as well as women who have borne children. After exhausting years of non-invasive interventions for SI joint dysfunction here in our home state, we made the decision to move forward with another fusion. Despite the cost, the inconvenience to my husband's practice as well as the disruption to our family life, we bypassed our state's major university hospital as well as its world famous medical center to return to the place that felt right, Dr. Tobler and The Mayfield Clinic. As wonderful as our first experience with Dr. Tobler was, our second was even better! Between Dr. Tobler, his very kind secretary Kim N., the organized and thorough work of prior-auth specialist Angie D., the clinical nursing staff and the INCREDIBLE nursing staff at the surgery center - we felt like we were once more exactly where we belonged! Surgery was approved quickly, performed flawlessly, my post op pain was well controlled and my R SI joint feels like it has a new lease on life! Dr. Tobler did an excellent job on my daughter's breast reduction, you could immediately see the results! Minimal bleeding, no discoloration of her aereolas. The staff were very comforting, knowledgeable and efficient. Would highly recommend!

Dr. Tobler performed neck fusion surgery for C3 through C6. Prior to the surgery, i had unbearable pain in my lower neck, shoulders and arms. In fact, I had very limited mobility in either arm. Before deciding on the surgery, I had two appointments with Dr. Tobler and he explained to me - in very simple yet detailed language - my condition, its cause, the surgical solution and the consequences of surgery v. no surgery. After spending a few hours with him, the decision was clear, if I wanted to regain quality of life. The surgery was 100% successful. And, the outcome, including the post surgery side effects, were exactly as he described. So, I had zero surprises. I have had no pain whatsoever in the areas where I experienced in before the surgery. I have total confidence in Dr. Tobler's abilities and would recommend his services to anyone with neck or back pain conditions.

Dr. Tobler performed the Rialto SI Joint Fusion on 5/17/21. It was a very difficult and painful recovery, but I am 6 months out and feel like I have my life back. I sought pain relief for years to avoid surgery after being bucked off a horse and broke my pelvis and sacrum. I tried physical therapy, injections, modification in exercise, anti inflammatory diets, acupuncture and an SI Joint Ablation. Until I had this surgery, I lived with constant painful movement. I am deeply grateful that I trusted Dr. Tobler with this surgery. He is a terrific listener, gives solid advice and took his time explaining any questions I had before and after surgery.

I have total trust in Dr Tobler. His skills are superb and have twice changed my life from one of severe pain and neurological deficit to being pain free and fully functional

I tried creams, exercises, even turtlenecks and scarves to hide or reduce the loose skin. My confidence and self-esteem was low, and I avoided mirrors. At age 57 I had a full face lift by Dr. Tobler and my life changed forever. From the initial consultation until the last follow-up appointment, this journey has been one of the BEST decisions of my life. Dr. Tobler's attention to detail, expertise, individualized treatment plan, and follow-up assessments eased my mind tremendously. I had never had any cosmetic procedures, so going in to get Botox for the first time was a bit scary. But, Dr. Tobler and his staff were nothing but kind and professional! They explained the whole process to me and calmed my nerves! Dr. Tobler is a magician, in that it barely hurt and the results are fantastic! I would recommend Dr. Tobler to anyone and I have been! Dr. Tobler is an excellent doctor. When I had my reconstruction surgery, he was my doctor throughout the whole process. He was great to work with and was always there for the patient.

Dr Tobler is an amazing surgeon. He is considerate, understanding and humble about how talented he really is ????????. He speaks with confidence and he truly cares about his patients, as well as being persistent in providing long lasting results. For many years I had struggled with my oversized breasts because I am a relatively small person. I am about 5’4”,140 lbs and my bra size had been increasing over the past 7+ years. After having children my bra size remained a 34C -34D. Suddenly every 6-8 months my breast size would increase for no reason. There was no change in my diet or heavy medication that would cause my breast tissue to continue to grow at that rate. I became extremely insecure and was slowly unable to wear tops and bathing suits I have been accustomed to wearing my entire life. In spring of 2019 my breast size had grown from a 34C-D back in 2009 to a whopping 34H! I was extremely unhappy, depressed and in physical pain, having mild scoliosis. I had permanent indentations in my shoulders even with the thick padded straps in full coverage bras. Women with larger breasts can understand how physically painful and frustrating this can be when you’re trying to button up a blouse, a coat, or wear a 2 piece bathing suit. I was forced to purchase extremely expensive minimizing bras from specialty stores. When my cup size grew to an H my band size remained a 34, I had to go to another specialty shop in West Chester and have my bras personally made because the size that I needed was so irregular my bras had to be hand made. This cost over $75 for 1 bra and the underwire would cut out of my bra and just poke my breasts painfully. Sometimes I would even have to put safety pins in between the buttons of my blouse so my top ( even wearing the minimizer), didn’t look like it was being stretched in between the buttons, which is a very sloppy and unattractive look. I’m very girly and I like to look nice and my large breasts we’re getting in the way of that. Taking my bra off at night would hurt my breasts at the top from them just hanging, so most of the time when I sit down I would put a pillow under my breasts so I wouldn’t have pain in my chest because my breasts were so bottom heavy. I’m a runner and had to stop running. I was essentially miserable all day and all night knowing that my breasts would continue to get larger if I didn’t do something about it. After asking my PCP I decided to use the referralI to reach out to Dr. Tobler and schedule an appointment. I knew I had to do some thing. I thought if I just had the information I could have the surgery sometime in the future because I knew there would be a huge out-of-pocket cost since this would be considered a cosmetic surgery. Upon meeting Dr Toubler in the spring of 2019 I was pleasantly surprised. Immediately looking at my chart that was sent over electronically and an exam, he was confident he could complete the surgery and my insurance would cover the cost 100% because of the size of my breasts and my mild scoliosis. I was very shocked and very happy. After getting a breast examination and other things I had to take care of prior to surgery Dr Tobler was able to get my insurance company to approve the surgery at 100%. We scheduled the surgery months later. Although I had reservations about going under anesthesia for a few hours Dr Tobler eased my fear and took the time to understand my concerns. As excited as I was about looking normal and getting my life back, I was still afraid. In October 2019 at Bethesda North hospital my surgery was 100% successful and I was discharged that day with no drainage, minimal stitching and bleeding. I recovered quicker than I thought I would and was able to see a difference 24 hours after surgery. After the swelling went down and my postop appointments were successful, I was able to wear a sports bras and then regular non-underwire bras. I could run and wear what I wanted. I had tears of joy. I had my life back thanks to Dr Tobler. My sister in law had the same surgery after I highly recommended him. Don’t hesitate. Dr Tobler is an amazing surgeon. All I have to say Dr. William Tobler is the bomb.com!!!! He’s definitely hands down the best. November 2020 I had 2 hernia repairs, FDL Tummy Tuck, & muscle repair. I was soooo nervous considering I only had one other surgery before this. He takes his time talking about what’s going to happen before, during, & after surgery, answered my 100000 questions (lol literally) without hesitation, told me if I have anymore I can call or even make an appointment to see him before surgery. Most doctors are only about the money and rushy. I’m soooo happy I decided to go with him (Thanks to someone on a TT group on FB) after seeing her awesome results. Word of mouth is where it’s at. I got a breast reduction from Dr. Tobler. He was the best and was a really great doctor. Never disregarded my questions and always was upfront with me. If I had any problems I was concerned about he addressed them. I would recommend him for everything! I’m going back for my lipo and bbl soon! ????

I am so grateful to have had Dr. Tobler on my medical care team for Breast Reconstruction after a bilateral mastectomy. Since walking into his office and meeting him he made me feel so calm and comfortable with everything that was going to be happening. I first sought the services of Dr. Tobler, shortly after a breast cancer diagnosis that would require mastectomy. I met with him to understand and consider my options for reconstruction. From that very first consultation, he was kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. He helped guide me through the different surgical options and ultimately led me to feel complete confidence in the route I chose, and one that was best suited for my set of circumstances. With his professional demeanor, he was able to put me at ease during my first consult, not long after my breast cancer diagnoses. I had decided my journey was going to be a double mastectomy and knew that I wanted to rebuild. I was a large D and knew I wanted to go smaller with my rebuild, something more proportionate with my body. I left the size up to him since he was the artist. I met Dr. Tobler on one of the scariest days of my life. I had just met with the breast surgeon and she had just told me I had Breast Cancer. She explained to me what my options were regarding reconstructive surgery and called Dr. Tobler to see if he could do a consultation with me. I just wanted to meet with everyone involved in my journey immediately and leave the hospital with some type of plan. Dr. Tobler fit me into his schedule within the hour. When I met him he was so caring, yet direct and informative. He answered all of my questions, and when I left his office I was certain that I didn't want to see any other reconstructive surgeon. Through out my journey I learned so much about Dr. Tobler, he is a huge supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness, participating in the Real Men Wear Pink initiative and raising thousands of dollars for Breast Cancer Research. I had a surgery in 2018 by Dr. Tobler and my life got ruined since then. I am 38 year old and live my life very limited. I went to so many doctors afterwards in and out of the States. They didn’t even think that surgery was a right decision because there was nothing wrong to operate. Yes I made a mistake to decide to have a surgery but how I would know ? I wanted to trust Dr. Tobler because I was so desperate. He was polite, personable, and very confident before surgery that’s how I got convinced but after surgery he said he can’t help me anymore , he offered me another surgery to put a device in my spine to manage the pain. I am wondering if I was his daughter if he still operated me or told me that he can’t help me anymore. Dr. Tobler performed L4/L5 herniated disc surgery on my wife several years ago. Every time we visited his office (while my wife was suffering from debilitating pain), we were forced to wait 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours past the scheduled appointment time to see the Dr. Whenever we expressed concerns (regarding anything), we received a defensive, unprofessional response from both the Dr and his staff. Ultimately, the surgery was a major failure because she contracted a devastating staff infection in the L4/L4!disc cavity, which destroyed the disc. Dr. Tobler has been my "hero" since 2008. Severe pain L4 & L5 for years. So scared to have back surgery and it was the best decision I have ever made.

I saw Dr Tobler in 2018 for a rare condition called osteomyelitis. Rather than jumping to recommend surgery, he recommended that we try to address the problem with antibiotics first, which worked. I am very impressed and thankful, that he cared more about my well being than money he could make from unnecessary surgery. I have recommended him to others and I highly recommend him to anyone reading this that may be in need of back or neck surgery. I couldn't have asked for a better experience when I had my surgery with Dr Tobler. He is an excellent surgeon as well as a very kind and compassionate individual. Being in the medical profession myself I reached out to multiple physicians asking their opinion prior to seeing Dr Tobler. Several of them commented, "He's absolutely the best in the city." Two of them said they specifically requested him to perform surgery on their parent. Although I was pretty fearful I was repeatedly told I was in very good hands. Dr Tobler allayed my worries and concisely explained everything answering all my questions which in resulted in soothing all my fears prior to surgery. He was polite, personable, and very confident before surgery that’s how I got convinced but after surgery he said he can’t help me anymore , he offered me another surgery to put a device in my spine to manage the pain. I had a very positive experience with Mayfield Clinic and everyone involved with my back surgery on January 25, 2021. Dr. Tobler is an excellent surgeon and a great human being. He is compassionate and skilled. I felt comfortable and confident with my back surgery. Within 3 days my back pain was almost totally gone. Every day I feel less pain. DR. Tobler is one of the best surgeons that I have ever met. He will not operate unless he can fix the problem that you are having. I went to see him about pain in my lower back. He told me that there was nothing to be done with my lower back because the vertebrae had collapsed and fused themselves together . Same story from numerous other surgeons. However, he found a problem in the upper back that could have put me in a wheel chair for life. The surgery went GREAT. Dr. Tobler's team was the best I have ever seen. This even lessened the pain in my lower back! I would recommend Dr. Tobler and his entire team to ANYONE!

My experience with Doctor. Tobler has all been positive. He and his staff have all ben competent and and courteous. Most importantly, his surgery on my back has solved the problem.. It has been about 7 weeks since the surgery and all is well. I would gladly recommend him to others

I had suffered low back pain for well over 15 years and Dr. Tobler diagnosed that I needed an L5-S1 fusion using the ALIF (Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion) procedure. The surgery was a great success and I now have no back pain! I had outpatient surgery at the Mayfield Spine Surgery Center and the staff was exceptional. My recovery took about 3 months with Physical Therapy and the therapy staff at Mayfield was also amazing. I have returned to work as a Water Fitness Instructor and feel so much better. It's been a little over 6 months from my surgery and I am at full capacity and training for a backpacking trip and a bicycling trip this year. I look forward to being able to go downhill skiing next winter. Prior to this low back fusion, I had a cervical spine fusion at C4-C5-C6 about 10 years ago and that was also a success story. That is why I returned to Dr. Tobler to have this procedure done.

My visit with doctor Tobler today went well. Doctor Tobler is highly experienced , very respectful and he gives the patient all the time to ask and listen . I thank God because on 2009 he guided me to the right Neurosurgen who removed a brain tumor that was in a very complicated location.

I went to Dr. Tobler for a 2nd opinion for my lower back & sciatic nerve pain after spending months thinking I was not a candidate for surgery. He was very caring & understanding of my situation & told me he could perform a surgery that would resolve my back issues. My wife had Cervical Spine surgery 10 years ago after suffering with shooting pains and numbness in her arms and hands. Dr. Tobler inserted a Titanium Rod that connected C2 to C9. Wonderful success wonderful bedside manner wonderful follow up. It was ten years later August 2020 when we were in Beaver Creek Co. on a golf trip with a group from our Country Club here in Naples Florida when that area C7, T1 collapsed causing an immediate flight back to Cincinnati. Dr. Tobler saw Linda the next day and performed emergency surgery the next day to repair and replace the Titanium rod. Dr. Tobler is an excellent neurosurgeon and we are blessed to have him here in Cincinnati. My husband had major cervical spine surgery in mid-June and his surgery and recovery could not have gone any better. His support team is the best, and Dr. Tobler is very skilled in surgery as well as pre-op and post-op care. You cannot go wrong with Mayfield or with William Tobler - I am an experienced medical-surgical nurse, and I know this to be true. After all, I trusted my own husband to his care.

Dr Tobler is phenomenal neurosurgeon

Back in June of 2015, I had 2 discs in my neck replaced with artificial discs. He pushed for this procedure stating the discs would give me more mobility. Since this surgery I needed another surgery in December of 2015 because I was having issues with pinching of the nerves. This issues continued for the next 2 years. Then in May of 2017, I had to go in for another surgery for a fusion on my C7/ T1 disc. After this surgery I had lost my voice. I met with Dr. Berger, who should retire, for my first follow up, with minimal feed back. Then after my 6 week check with Dr. Tobler, he got nervous and told the nurse to cancel any further appointments that I was done and to schedule an appointment with an Ear,Nose and throat specialist. He did not care for my well being just that he may have screwed up. I have had continuous pain since this. I have met with 4 other surgeons. The first one stated he had never heard of using replacements for cervical spine. The 2nd surgeon stated he never uses replacement discs in the cervical spine because they are worthless. The 3rd surgeon stated the due to my age and serious condition to my neck they should have never used the discs. The last surgeon stated the same thing to old. Should only be used in younger patients. That was my aha moment because Dr. Tobler was excited that my insurance company allowed the 2 disc replcement. It is my belief that he may have gotten a kickback from the makers of the discs. If that's the case never put money before your patients needs. You need to retire when that happens. The staff at Mayfield is great, and I cant say enough good things about doctor Tobler. From his concern and taking time to explain my condition to me and what the operation would entail. Dr Tobler fixed my very painful back by fusing L2 L3 and L4 together .After 2 months I am totally pain free thanks to his skills.

I had a great experience with Mayfield clinic and Dr. Tobler, and the surgery he performed. As an active but non-young guy, I have certainly had some painful back sprains and some mild sciata over the years, and had been occasionally seeing a doc at one of the local sports medicine places, who put me on ibuprofen and gabapentin. (After googling gabapentin, I chose not to take that stuff.) In August 2018 at age 63, I helped lift a big old 35" tube TV, and my life changed. It was immediate, disabling, pain- like nothing I had ever experienced, and I had to walk bending forward just so I didn't scream. I knew something serious had happened, this wasn't just a sprain. Fortunately, I had a few percocets from an old shoulder surgery, which helped a bit. I called my doc at the sports medicine place, who despite my protests, insisted it was just a sprain and I should increase my current meds and it would resolve itself. After a month, nothing had changed. Incredible pain all the time. It hurt to walk, it hurt to sit, it hurt to lie down. I realized I needed to try a different path. I called two friends that had had serious back issues and asked who they would recommend. Both said simply "Tobler at Mayfield." (In the midst of all this I had my first bouts of unrelated Atrial Fibrillation and also discovered a lump in my chest -later removed and found to be benign- so at the time it really seemed like maybe somebody was trying to tell me my number was up!) I made an appointment with Tobler's assistant, who scheduled an x-ray, and subsequently an MRI, which I had done at Proscan Saturday Sept 22. Three days later on Sept 25 I had another appointment, and this time I met with the assistant and then met Dr. Tobler, who had reviewed my MRI. He said I had a severely herniated disc and needed surgery asap. We schedule the surgery for the following Monday, October 1st. When I woke up after the surgery, the pain was gone. Totally gone. I'd put it in the miracle category. In fact, I felt so good, I kind of overdid it over the next few days, and then I did have some soreness for a couple weeks. But it all went away. It's now over a year later. Some mornings my back is stiff when I wake up, until I walk around a bit. Sometimes I lean back on a heating pad while I have my first cup of coffee, that also loosens me up. But mostly, I don't think about my back. I walk my dog about an hour a day. I've been on multiple hikes in North Carolina of 3 to 4 hours. I've ridden my motorcycle and my mountain bicycle on gravel roads and trails. (Of course, I am very careful not to lift heavy things!) I'm sure it also doesn't hurt that I finally went from 210 to 185, using the 5-2 fasting diet. Trying to get down to 170. Bottom line, Dr. Tobler changed my life, and maybe even saved it. I had s sudden onset of back problems that resulted in partial loss of function in one foot. After consulting with several medical professionals it became very clear that surgery was needed. Dr Tobler was an excellent choice for the surgery. He was not only highly recommended to me, I had gone to him in the past and knew that he was a very kind and caring man in addition to being a highly skilled surgeon. He performed a 2 level spinal fusion on my L4-L5-S1 vertebrae. This is always a complicated surgery but he had to deal with some extra issues as my nerves had to be carefully pushed back into place and scar tissue delicately removed from the nerve. The staff at the Mayfield Spine surgery center were excellent - kind, caring and very skilled. They had me sit up, stand and walk with a walker shortly after surgery. Even though it was very slow going I could tell immediately that most of my foot function had returned. My recovery, while lengthy, was well ahead of schedule and I am pain free, slowly returning to full function. I had resigned myself to partial disability before the surgery but I attribute Dr. Tobler's skill for making it possible for me to regain my active life! I had an issue with a pinched nerve in my neck causing pain including pain going down my left arm.I had lost about half the strength in my left arms bicep and shoulder muscles. I had seen a surgeon for this and he took xrays and sent me for an MRI. Then the "shutdown" came from the covid-19 pandemic. I got a call from the surgeons staff saying, we're sorry, we can't help you at this time. I was left hanging in limbo.I found the Mayfield Spine website and contacted an initial care person and provided details of my problem and gave access to my test results. Dr. Tobler reviewed my case file and I was contacted to make an appointment to see him. Dr. Tobler went over my case and could tell from the test results and my symptoms that I would need a three level ACDF. I got the surgery within 10 days. The pain was gone! Tobler was very concerned about potential permanent nerve pain based upon his observation of the physical weakness in leg/foot. I had a TLIF done on L5-S1 in December of 2019. Very impressed with absolutely no back pain (only some stiffness and I think a lot of this is due to age.) Working my way back to the Golf Course after only 13 weeks and 6 weeks of helpful PT. I have "drop foot" in my foot but have been working towards gaining normalcy again. This is not a result of the Fusion; due to waiting so long to get the Fusion done. The Doctor's team of well qualified Personnel, (including K. Niece who helped me keep my sanity during Their care) was absolutely the best care I have ever received. Dr. Tobler was candid, empathetic, and totally professional. I would say one would have to be very satisfied with this kind of treatment. It takes about a year for the nerve regeneration to take place in order to fix the drop foot issue if it is going to be possible to fix. Great Job!

Dr. Tobler operated on my back as an out patient at The Mayfield Clinic. I had suffered off and on for six years with back, buttocks, hip and leg pain. Dr. Tobler, after an MRI, knew exactly what was causing the problem. He went in and cleared the pinched nerve and I am now totally 100% pain free.

I would highly recommend Dr Tobler. I was scared and in pain. He took such good care of me. From start to finish The Mayfield is top notch. I went to Mayfield physical therapy afterwards and the ladies Tammie an Jen helped me get back on my feet. I couldn't have done it without Dr Tobler and his wonderful team!

I’ve re-read Tobler’s response to my honest posting regarding my experience with him. As usual his ego is on display. He never clearly explained what he was going to do. Then, after the surgery he back peddled with his explanation. I see other reviews with similar comments. I’ve had several top surgeons evaluate all the files and they just shake their heads in disbelief. So I’m left with years of constant pain and disability. And his comments years later it’s “not fair to blame the Dr. You have a chronic condition that can’t be cured”.. So why did his not mention that at the time so I could have made a better decision? I corresponded several times with Mayfield Mgt. But realized I had no recourse. Before you leave his office you are required to sign your life away. The ship has sailed for me but if o can help anyone considering Dr Tobler beware. Don’t let his ego get in your way. Mayfield is an excellent clinic. Just be cautious. I came in scared and in pain. Dr Tobler was kind and reassured me. I knew I was in good hands. The whole experience from start to finish went very smooth.

10 years ago the doctor performed spinal surgery on me, inserting rods and spinal cage. Before I could take two steps and crumble, now I can play 18 holes of golf, go dancing that night and wake up feeling like a champ at 68 years old. I highly recommend anyone with back problems to contact Dr. Tobler for consultation and if necessary surgery. I only want the best surgeon working on me and Dr. Tobler is the BEST!

I was seeing an orthopedic spine specialist for several years for sciatica. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Tobler for a second opinion. He was thorough and took as much time as I needed to explain what his plan would be. I stayed with Dr. Tobler and he performed a TLIF procedure in June of 2019. My pain went away almost immediately. I have gotten my life back thanks to Dr. Tobler and his his excellent staff. I highly recommend Dr. Tobler and Mayfield Brain and Spine.

I have been a physician in the Cincinnati area for 42 years. During that time, I have personally had lower back surgery from Dr. Tobler as well as having family members use him for a very serious surgeries. I also, have referred many many patients to him without a single complaint. He does excellent work. I will continue to Refer people to him for back surgery and anything neurosurgical. You cannot do better than Dr. Tobler.

In a few short months I deteriorated from cane to walker to wheelchair, Dr. Tobler successfully performed a decompression laminoplasty w fusion and an ACDF on C345. The electrical shooting pain was immediately relieved and two weeks post surgery I am walking. All peripheral limbs were affected with myelopathy, and now I only have my hands and feet to recover through ongoing therapy. I am very grateful to have this surgery expertly performed and to feel alive again.

Dr. Tobler performed a spinal fusion on me (including insertion of a titanium "cage") in March 2019. Results were and continue to be excellent. I appreciated how Dr. Tobler and his excellent PA (David Doyle) explained options and procedures to me along the way; especially helpful was seeing all of my MRI's and x-rays pre-op and post-op. I received clear explanations of what the films showed and got a true sense of the very positive change the operation had effected. Dr. Tobler visited me twice during my inpatient hospital stay; his PA also visited. Immediately after the operation, Dr. Tobler met with my wife to explain what the operation had entailed and how it had gone. Lastly, I want to compliment Dr. Tobler's staff--especially his scheduler and nurses. They are efficient and caring individuals. Overall, I recommend Dr. Tobler highly.

Dr Tobler did surgery on my thoracic area. Was supposed to be 2 inch cut ended up being thoracic 2 to 12.He also didn't tell me to go off of fish oil which in high doses is a bleeder. I got burn marks on forehead and chin from O.R table that wasn't grounded. Had to have 7 blood fusions. But to top it off I got fractured spine.

My experience could not have been better. When I woke from the surgery I was immediately aware that the pain in my legs was gone. Six weeks later I feel the same. Wish I could have had this surgery 3 years ago.

Dr. Tobler performed decompression surgery on my L4 and L5 along with insertion of Coflex device 8 weeks ago. Immediately, the pain in my back and down the back of my legs was gone. I am more active now than I have been in a long time.

Dr. Tobler did neck surgery that included replacing cartlidge between C3-4,C4-5 & C5-6. I was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis. There was nothing between my cervical discs and both hands and feet were very numb. Given I hadn't had surgery I could have been paralyzed. The numbness is now 75% better than before surgery. I am now able through Dr. Tobler’s efforts to once again be able to play golf. Dr. Tobler visited me at Jewish Hospital on Saturday and Sunday after Friday’s surgery. My wife and I were shocked after our first visit with Dr Tobbler because he spent so much time with us and seemed to really care. Dr Tobbler replaced my c 5-6 and c 6-7 disc with artificial disc. My symptoms before the surgery were arm and hand numbness, jaw numbness, chronic headaches, relentless itching of my elbows and arms and my legs felt like they had weights attached to them. I’m a avid ultra runner so my ability to run was majorly compromised. All those symptoms are a thing of the past after my surgery. I recently ran a 100k race and it was my personal best time. Dr. Tobler has performed three surgeries on me with no complications. My first surgery was a cervical disc with no fusion in 1996/7. I wore a neck brace with some discomfort, but the outcome was great. My second surgery was a fusion of my L3/4 and L5/S1 in about 20011/12. He had mentioned that because there was a space between my L3/4 and L5/S1, that eventually I may need to have the L4/5 addressed. This was a longer recovery but I did everything the rehab trainers advised me to do. Within a year, I felt like I never had surgery and did great. My mobility was great and no pain. In May 2018, I had my third surgery which was more intense. I had pain in my lumbar region which was radiating down my leg. Dr. Tobler fused the L2/3 and L4/5. He also inserted 2 rods with several screws and spacers. This was a tougher recovery, but it’s now January 2019 and I’m finally beginning to feel like myself again. Rehab and doing what they say is crucial to a successful recovery. I know that by my one year mark in May, that I’ll be even better. My experience with Dr. William Tobler from the very beginning has been wonderful. He’s a very compassionate and caring doctor. During my first visit to his office in Cincinnati, OH, he immediately diagnosed the condition of my back and nerve pain and realized how serious the condition was. Rather than wait three months for surgery, he rearranged his schedule to perform surgery within 9 days. His staff was very helpful in finding a doctor to do a complete physical in preparation for the surgery as I live in Nashville, TN. The timing was crucial for my medical condition. If I would have continued without surgery, I would have been in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. My disks were shot and unstable. He fused L4, L5, and S1 and completely rebuilt my spine. The surgery was very successful, no complications, and now I can walk straight. 6 years ago today DR. Tobler fused L4-L5 and L5-S1 and I feel great. I’m still able to do two of my favorite things, backpack and downhill ski. This year I’ve skied Jackson Hole and Copper MTN. Thank you DR Tobler for allowing me to keep my outdoor adventures

Dr. Tobler and the entire staff at Mayfield clinic are wonderful to work with. They explained my surgery in detail, and made my recovery from pain possible! I needed three discs replaced in my neck, with bone grafted from my hip. While I am still recovering, the pain and numbness that were a constant part of my life is almost completely gone! I am actually looking forward to physical therapy, and the pain free and ACTIVE life I will lead! Janet Rahe

I had cervical spine surgery in 2015 and lumbar spinal surgery in November 2017 performed by Dr. Tobler at the Mayfield Spine Surgery Center. Dr. Tobler was highly recommended by my primary care physician and, I found, with good reason. I found Dr. Tobler to highly professional and empathetic which made it a comfortable experience. His demeanor gave me great confidence in the quality of medical care I was receiving. In both surgeries I had a excellent outcome. His staff was excellent too.

Very large ego and very arrogant Dr. He let his resident do the surgery without my knowledge and then lied about it. Went in with a little leg and back pain in L3-L4 and came out with partial paralysis in right leg with 2 dead nerves due to ruptured spinal sac and damage to L5 nerve. Don't let this butcher near you!
