So happy with Dr Smithy..he tells it like it is. Speaks to you in terms that you can understand..explains everything he is going to do before he does it (i like that) no surprises.

Beware patients this Surgeon has Dr Smithy Has changed my life for ever and I have life complications because of his ability to do what was needed something so simple like an external skin tag on my anus to be removed went inside and surgically cut me open internally for no reason possible to bill the insurance company for more money to pay himself more or he lost his mind, He changed my life forever !!!where now I been to 3 other surgeons which all say I have life problems because of this man who calls him self a doctor of Colon rectal, I know have a fistula and need more surgery from his doing`s , I have life fetal incontinence now because of his inability to do what the issue was which was an external skin tag . Please he is a very dangerous man and i do not want others to go threw what I've been experiencing for years and still under doctors care. Find another doctor or chance being badly hurt like myself

Great surgeon. Explains all procedures and recovery. pleasent and answers all questions. iIwould definitely recommend Dr. William Smlithy.

He performed a surgery on me couple years back. This man is full of life. Larger than life. I need all Doctors, Surgeons to be like him. May GOD bless you

I had a true emergency, and this wonderful Doctor took me in immediately, even though I was a new patient. I felt so confident being there on all levels, even at a time when the Corona virus has rendered the public vulnerable to this horrible ailment. He and his staff are so kind and understanding. He is a brilliant medic, with a great sense of humor, (important!) endless patience, and darling and caring employees. He should clone himself so every town in the US gets the same level of tush care. BRAVO!

surgeon is incompetent he's an old man that messed me up for the rest of my life wasn't even suppose to cut me internally do not use him or you might have the same outcome as I did he should be put in jail

Dr Smitty needs to retire I had a piece of skin left over from a old hemmroid Smitty was suppose to remove the external skin which wasn't big for some reason he lost he's train of thought in surgery well the bad thing is he cut me internally and cut my spekta I now have life repercussions from this old man who ruined my life. Now I have leakage everyday. Beware.. he's not a good surgeon at all he hurt me badly for life

Dr. Smithy performed a sigmoid colon resection on me. One month after I went to Stony Brook ER with abdominal pain. In January 2015 he performed a reverse illeostomy. I was left with an abdominal access which he continued to withhold from me and treat with oral antibiotics. In October 2015 I was admitted again and told 5 days before when discharged again on oral antibiotics that he was going to remove. Again he refused placing me on a pic line. October 19th he discharged me with performing another illeostomy and sending me home on a n I.V. Pic line. Went Upstate for my sister-in-law to care for me. I underwent a 7 hour surgery with 3 surgeons on December 15, 2015. They removed 2 abdominal accesses, 3 fistula and 5 feet of bowel. I now have a permanent colostomy and cannot sue for medical malpractice. Do not let a doctor tell you abdominal abscess will clear with oral antibiotics. He is a great doctor

Dr. Smithy has been my Doctor since my first colonoscopy when I was 42 (had some pain and needed to check). I've had several over the years and Dr. Smithy has done a fantastic job monitoring my family. In October 7, 2015 he performed a resection on me due to monthly attacks from Diverticulitis...took out a section the size of a fist, reconnected me and I was out of SB Hospital by October 13th feeling great !!! Back to work 4 weeks later. The Nurses at Stony Brook took excellent care of me !!!

DR Smitty saved my life!!!! I would give hima 10 on a scale of 1-5. Best doctor I ever met. When I asked him how many surgeries he has done he told me 31 years worth!!! I would recommend him to anyone that needed to have surgery!!!!!

What a terrific doctor. I would highly recommend Dr. Smithy to family and friends. I know Dr. Smithy for many years and had many colonoscopies done and he is great. Also as a surgeon, wonderful. My son had surgery for diverticulitis and thank God he is fine and the operation was a success. Very caring doctor, and very good. A sweet and gentle man.

Dr Smithy performed a hemicolectomy on me May 20th. I was back playing beach volleyball on July 1st. The 1st day was the roughest. It got much better everyday.
