About Dr. William Karl Koeck
Reviews for Dr. William Karl Koeck
William koeck in by far the greatest spine surgeon that has helped me with my situation not only has he fixed my scoliosis problem but was also willing to help me through my military enlistment with a medical evaluation stating my obsolete condition. I really recommend Dr.koeck to anyone who has a scoliosis problem.
Dr. Koeck has done an excellent job managing my son’s complex orthopedic issues. He is patient, thorough, and willing to answer any questions. The office staff is friendly and efficient.
Great with children and the family. He and his team went beyond the call of duty to find the best treatment for my daughter. She was supposed to have had many surgeries, but with a new treatment in texas she only had 2. Highly recommended.
We are thrilled to have been referred to Dr. Koeck by a respected ortho surgeon out of New Braunfels due to Dr. Koeck's experience in pediatric surgery. We are so happy we found him! He is very professional as is his entire staff. Most importantly, we felt his additional experience in pediatrics gave us the best chance of our son's broken arm healing properly since he has performed so many surgeries on children. While we hope there will be no more broken bones in our family, he would hands down be the surgeon for us in the future if we needed one. Dr. Koeck may also be opening an additional office in the New Braunfels area soon which is convenient. Thank you Dr. Koeck and staff! Our daughter has been treated by Dr. Koeck for over 5 years now. She was diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 12. Six months ago, at the age of 16, she had spinal fusion surgery. Dr. Koeck has held our hand and reassured us through this entire process. He has given our daughter the best care over the years. He is always patient and sits down and takes the time to answer all of our questions. In the beginning, he would talk to our daughter and ask her questions and get to know her to make her feel more comfortable and try to make a connection with her. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and when he doesn't know something he will research and consult until he figures it out. Our daughter had an unforeseen complication after surgery and Dr. Koeck worked tirelessly and diligently until the issue was resolved. Also, our surgery coordinator, Brit has helped us tremendously! She is phenomenal at what she does. She is caring and compassionate. She is always kind and she has gone above and beyond to help us with our insurance claims. I cannot say enough nice things about Brit! I highly recommend Dr. Koeck! Our daughter has been treated by Dr. Koeck for over 5 years now. She was diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 12. Dr. Koeck Is amazing! He has been monitoring my sons Scoliosis since he was 13. Just before his 17th birthday we proceeded with a Spinal fusion surgery to correct the curvature in his back. The surgery couldn't have gone any better. My son and I met every single person that would be in surgery with him from nurses to the anesthesiologist before they took him into surgery. A nurse kept me updated every hour on the hour since it was such a long surgery (6 hours) As soon as my son was out of surgery I was able to see him and he was in great spirits. He was up and walking the very next day. Recovery went so much better then either one of us could have imagined. We are 4 1/2 months into recovery and he as resumed Normal daily life and is expected to be able to competitively race his dirt Mico Sprint car when the season begins in February. Most unbelievable experience ever. Would highly recommend Dr. Koeck to anyone.
Appointment was at 1:30 and it’s now 2:30.
Literally takes 3 hrs to have him come in and say “yeah, you’re good.” Honestly, I think he has a bit of a monopoly on the market in northern SA so he just doesn’t care. Pretty incompetent staff as well. Also, the prices are out of this world, fortunately, I have good insurance - good luck to anyone else.
Dr. Koeck has treated my Daughter twice and he is thorough, highly competent, and impressive!!! He would never deliberately over bill someone.
Dr. Koeck performed a spinal fusion on my daughter to correct her scoliosis. This major surgery went better than we could have ever expected. The usual expectation is to have some curve after this fusion, with his skill, she has zero curve. Her recovery was better than expected and you can barely see her scar after just a year. I can't recommend him enough. We went to several doctors before picking Dr. Koeck, thankfully we did. Dr. Koeck performed a spinal fusion on my daughter to correct her scoliosis. Three things in order of importance: 1. I took my daughter to this practice because she had a possible ankle sprain/fracture. At the end of my appointment with Dr. Koeck, he concluded that my daughter needed a boot for her ankle injury. At checkout, his secretary informed me that the starting cost for this boot would be $150 and potentially more after they billed my insurance. She explained that I would have to pay any amount the insurance company didn't cover. I quickly found the same boot on my phone for $54 on Amazon, only a fraction of their price. At this point, I decided we were not going to take the boot from their office and immediately spoke with both the doctor and his Physician assistant and gave it back to them. We left the office without the boot. A couple of weeks later, I received the explanation of benefits from the insurance company that showed that Dr. Koeck's office still billed my insurance company for the boot at a cost of $250 and my insurance company still had to pay $161.56!!! On the other hand, if I had taken the boot, I would still have gotten a bill in my mail from their office telling me that I had to pay the difference between what the insurance paid and what their office charged for a boot that in reality costs a fourth of what they charge!!! 2. Even though my daughter's appointment was 5 days after the injury and the doctor took 2 x-rays to evaluate her foot, he still said he couldn't tell what was wrong with her foot. The doctor asked me to come back a few days later for a new appointment and new x-rays. After the boot issue, I felt all they really wanted was to make us come back for an additional appointment and more x-rays that were probably unnecessary. I could not trust their judgement anymore. 3. The lady at the check out desk was really rude and treated us very badly when we decided not to take the boot - kind of humiliating us for not being "able" to afford a $250 dollar boot. She also didn't want to provide us with a medical excuse for school. We needed the excuse to present it to the school for the days my daughter had not been allowed -by the school administration- to attend school because she would be using crutches without a doctor's note. My grandson; Jeffery XXXX, has a debilitating pane in his hips and back. we went to an emergency clinic in Schertz. They referred us to Dr William K. Koeck, MD. for further evaluation. We called Koeck and made an appointment two weeks ago. They were too busy to see us before 11/27/2018. We made an appointment for that date and my grandson (16 years old) has been waiting for two weeks in constant pain for this appointment. Koeck’s office called today, a day before the appointment, to tell us that they didn’t accept our BlueCross BlueShield of Texas "Blue Advantage HMO Plan". Now we must find a different doctor to see him; with possibly another long wait. Koeck’s office took all of our insurance information prior to making the appointment. Dr. Koeck thoroughly answers questions and concerns both inside and outside of the office. He makes an apparent effort to schedule appointments with current and former patients. Very reassuring throughout the whole process, and gives great peace of mind. After the procedure he ensures that everything is running smoothly with periodic check ups. Highly recommend, you will be in good hands.
I called to get my daughter an appointment with Dr. Koeck for an injury to her knee. I called at 10am and was told they would call me back in 20 minutes to see when they can get her in. My daughter was seen by a different orthopedic doc that did more damage than good. At that point, it is my right 1 yr later to find another Dr. to treat her. I have a PPO so I don't need a referral. I called the office back 4 hours later for them to tell me that unless I can have the old Dr send over everything, they aren't willing to accept my child as a new patient. I explained to the girl on the phone that the other Dr refused to send over anything to them but that our PCP will make sure they get it all. Dr Koeck still refused to see her. This seems to me like he could care less to help her out. I'm very glad that I experienced this before he was able to treat her. I will be spreading the word on this office!!! My daughter and son have both been patients of Dr. Koeck. My daughter is a junior and on the varsity volleyball team at Brandeis High school. She had scoliosis correction surgery in February. She is healing well and is happy with the result. Dr. Koeck is an awesome surgeon. His staff and surgical team are the best in the business. Rude to my child and showed no compassion. Requested we get more X-rays because he did not like the X-rays that were done at an imaging center, even though I had concerns about exposing my child to excessive radiation. He did not seem to care. His medical assistant was not patient with my child and seemed annoyed. I only went there because pediatrician referred us.
Dr. Kopeck was very thorough with our daughter's diagnosis. He answered our questions even when ones came up after our appointment. His staff has been wonderful with both our daughter and us. She did need surgery and he was very particular with each step which put our minds at rest.

Dr. Koeck went above and beyond in caring for our son's broken leg. He came to the hospital to check on him after hours and was very gentle and reassuring. He was very patient and explained procedures and options carefully. He took the time to answer all of my questions and never made me feel like he was in a rush to leave the room. And his staff is wonderful. Anthony and Rolando do the casts, and they were fantastic. They kept my son laughing even during the scary stuff. The x ray nurse was so sweet and gentle every time. She was very compassionate and understanding and made him feel brave when he wasn't really feeling brave. I highly recommend Dr. Koeck and his staff!
