I went to Dr. Dougherty with a dog bite on my lip. Not only he fixed perfectly the pretty bad wound( there were also 7 mm missing tissue). He also asked if there were other issues. I mentioned my on going intestinal problems and thought that was it. He went into that right away and solved the problem which 3 doctors hadn’t for two months. No wonder he found out after I read about all his specialities. But his action to take care about it right away...intestines .... when I was there with a dog bite. Great doctor with great ethics !!! Jessica, his nurse, is exceptionally knowledgeable, helpful and nice. I can’t express enough how impressed and grateful I’m.

I would not go to this practice, unless you are rich, and have 'the right look'.

I saw Dr. Dougherty in early March of this year. He was referred to me via the doctor who had treated me previously. I have scars and swelling on both my hands due to an extreme case of Cellulitis. The experience has been extremely difficult and painful. After completing the long journey of healing, I was referred to Dr. Dougherty for scar and swelling treatment. Unfortunately, my experience there was nothing short of horrendous. Firstly, he was incredibly rude. He made several insensitive and inappropriate comments about my scars, something I was NOT expecting from someone who has purportedly worked with burn victims. He also clearly and brazenly, insinuated that I wouldn't have enough money to pay for any surgery he could preform. Secondly, after spending all of 30 seconds looking at my hands, he proclaimed that nothing could be done to fix them. This was quite a shock to me, as the previous doctor I'd seen had listed several options for treatment of cellulitis. Although I pushed him on this, he insisted that "nothing could be done". Then, however, as I rose to leave, he stated, " I could do a skin graft for you, if you want". I was stunned. Here was a doctor, a medical professional, recommending surgery he had JUST stated to be unnecessary. As for his claims that nothing could be done? Well they turned out to just be flat out wrong! Several weeks after my dreadful experience with Dr. Dougherty, I began to see an acupuncturist. After just a short time being treated there and following the dietary and exercise regimens given to me, I saw a dramatic improvement in my hands. The swelling is all but gone and the scars are starting to fade. Dr. Dougherty nearly cost me this progress with his arrogant and judgmental attitude. I RARELY post negative reviews, I have chosen to do so now in order to warn others. Dr. Dougherty has gone above and beyond his duty has a doctor for me since day one. Words cannot express what a extraordinary person and doctor he is. Taos is very lucky to have Dr. Dougherty. Wonderful office staff!
