I would absolutely recommend Dr. William Brown. He has performed two intricate spinal cord surgeries on me in a twelve-year period, the last one being unbelievably precarious. I knew he had my best interest at heart and knew he had the skills necessary for the procedure. Dr. Brown is caring and straight-forward with his patients and by no means pushes surgery. I truly believe I am walking today because of his knowledge and his skill and certainly because of God’s hand on him. I couldn’t imagine another doctor doing what Dr. Brown has done for me. I highly recommend him.

He was the only physician that knew how to treat trigreminal. Was seen by multiple Dr. was over dosed, and not on the correct medication. Needed surgery and that was never discussed, this is the worst known pain to man.

Dr Brown was my surgeon when I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus in 2017. He is truly an amazing & very knowledgeable man. Excellent bedside manners & explains the issues that I was facing in terms that I understood. His assistant, Tammy, is a great big plus also. A sweetheart in every sense of the word. Dr Brown was very friendly. Explained everything. Took his time and really talked to me. Some doctors talk down to women, he did not. Was very professional. Seemed surprised I did not select surgery. Was informed that I will need it sooner or later. Reminded me that I could only get a certain amount of shots and would really have to watch my diabetes. I would refer anyone I know to him.

I have been seeing Dr. Brown since approx. 2008. He has done 3 cervical spine surgeries on me. I have a history of Systemic MRSA from 2006. My spine was damaged. Dr. Brown has been very thorough, kind, and compassionate. He takes all of the time needed for my office visits. I never feel rushed. Dr. Brown is referred to as the best neurosurgeon in North Carolina by my former pain management doctor that now lives at the coast. I totally agree and I am so fortunate to have Dr. Brown continuing to follow up with me regularly. The office staff is great too. Very friendly!

Dr. Brown performed my second spinal fusion after I had a terrible first experience with a surgeon in another state that resulted a non-union. This was rare, as I was 22 at the time, and I was nervous to undergo another big surgery. He was kind, compassionate, and so funny that all my fears were put at ease. I have NEVER had a problem with my surgical site, and it was by far the best surgical experience I have ever had. He is the first doctor I call when something feels wrong and he is always willing to help. I agree that his staff are not as stellar as him. Some are dismissive and a bit cold, but others get to know you and choose to care. Be prepared to wait in the lobby for a bit, but it is because he takes a significant amount of time with each patient to make sure that they feel comforted and cared for. He is worth the wait!

I waited a really long time to be rudely treated by the doctor. I couldn't get a word in and he didn't want to know anything about my condition. He claimed that he didn't see the same problems on my xrays that other doctors had seen and told me that he couldn't help me after he found out that my only insurance was medicaid. I had my first surgery in 2003. It was a Chiari Decompression It required surgery on my brsin, skull n neck. From others experience with different doctors, I can say my outcome was much better than most. I still have neurological problems such as seizures, head n neck pain but not nearly as bad as prior to surgery. I had been misdiagnosed for all of my life prior to 03. No one took my complaints of living with a severe headache among other symptoms. Dr Brown said after surgery that the MRI did not do me justice. It was much worse with scar tissue n adhesions. I now have an EDS diagnosis n that breaks down connective tissue. I don’t know what the future holds but if I ever have to have any more neurological surgeries and I pray that I don’t but Dr Brown would be the only doctor I would trust. In 05 I had to have a Cervical fusion from C4-6. That surgery was a piece of cake after the other surgery. My husband was a respiratory therapist on the sixth floor which used to be Select Speciality. Every time Dr Brown saw my husband he always asked about me. I was once hospitalized n in ICU following being found unresponsive at home. When EMS took my temp it was 108. After IV toradol it still was 104. I had been to my PCP that morning for bronchitis n he prescribed a Z PAC. I had no idea that diabetics should not tKe zpacs. I ended up septic with acute rhabdomyeloitis. My CPK was over 7,000. Normal is below 2. They said I was very lucky to be alive n that my kidneys didn’t fail from trying to clear the muscle breakdown that the high temp caused. Dr Brown kept stopping by where my husband was working to check on me. Unfortunately my husband was found to have myelodysplastic syndrome (cancer of the bone marrow). Had a perfect match with his sister but he got an overwhelming infection in the hospital after he was admitted for dehydration post transplant. He had GVHD of the GI tract. Basically his body was rejecting the transplant. He passed away 4 days post readmission. I had hoped to be able to let Dr Brown know but his office staff said that because my husband wasn’t his patient that they could not pass that information to him. I hope n pray he sees this n knows how grateful I am to him for always showing compassion n concern for me n for my husband after he found out my husband had Cancer. I would recommend him to anyine who requires his devices. Mary Anderson, RN I had my first surgery in 2003. It was a Chiari Decompression It required surgery on my brsin, skull n neck. I typed a long detailed message, then lost it. So this is the condensed version. Let me say that 2 other docs would not touch my cervical spine. I fell 7 times over several months. Last time, family made me go to the ER. Had a second MRI done. Dr. Brown was on call. They admitted me. Next day Dr. Brown told me no surgery and I will end up paralyzed from the neck down in about a year. I had no other options. I prayed and had others with faith pray as well. Dr. Brown performed the surgery on 8/14/17. I'm still here, I haven't fallen since. Dr. Brown did what others would not. I thank God for gifting Dr. Brown with the skills he has and for the confidence needed to perform this complex surgery. I'm very grateful. I typed a long detailed message, then lost it. My husband was having diabetic nerve pain all over his body but especially his lower back. We were referred to a surgeon (can’t remember his name) who after looking at the mri scheduled him for surgery in 28 days. We didn’t feel too good about his diagnosis so a friend told us to go see Dr. Brown for a 2nd opinion. So glad we did because after checking the mri he said my husband was born with some common abnormality in his lower spine and in his opinion DID NOT need surgery! The pain was related to the diabetes. Thank God for Dr. Brown. It’s been 4 years, the pain went away and he hasn’t had anymore back trouble. That could have been an unnecessary surgery. First of all, Dr Brown is an excellent doctor and he cares about the patients and he's not a doctor who does surgery just for the money. In fact, he tells patients that if they can handle the pain that they are better off not having surgery if the risks outweigh the benefits. So, when he told me the second time I saw him (about 8 years after my first visit) that I needed surgery, I didn't even get a second opinion because #1: I knew he wouldn't tell me that unless it was really necessary and the pain was telling me that it was necessary also and #2: I knew I wanted him to do the surgery because people who work in the medical field doing rehabilitations (not any association with him) told me that patients that Dr Brown did surgery on healed a lot faster than the other patients. Also, the staff are very friendly and I don't understand why they got bad reviews but I didn't have any issues with them. The only negative thing that I can say, but it is still worth having Dr Brown as a doctor, is that it does take awhile to be seen but that's because he IS a good doctor and takes the time for each of his patients and isn't that what's important? First of all, Dr Brown is an excellent doctor and he cares about the patients and he's not a doctor who does surgery just for the money. The office staff are so rude and uncompassionate. They do not show the slightest bit of concern for the well being and health of the patients. They would rather cancel your appointment if you are unable to pay their ridiculously high office fees and are unwilling to even let you speak with the doctor if you are unable to pay.
