Dr. Wayne E Carr

Dr. Carr is an excellent psychotherapist. I would highly recommend his services.

Update: Yesterday I phoned Dr. Wayne Carr directly and asked some questions as to why I had not received any response from him. His excuses began, and then he threw his secretary under the bus. Half-jokingly he said to me, "Oh, you sent (the e-mail) to Michelle? Well, I'll have to talk to her, I'll have to spank her, she needs a spanking". As Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, that is an exact quote. I wish I had recorded it so that I could play it back for the Washington State Dept. of Health. Needless to say, I have severed my relationship with this therapist. Run-away.

Here is short follow-up to my review of Dr. Carr. Today I phoned him directly to find-out why I had not received any response from him or his office. When I mentioned that I had sent Michelle an e-mail last week, he immediately threw her under the bus. "Oh, you sent it to Michelle? Well I'll have to talk to her, I'll have to spank her, she needs a spanking". Honest to to my lord and savior, Jesus Christ; those were his exact words. I wish I had recorded the conversation. Run away.

So far I've had only one session with Dr. Carr and I'm wondering when the next will be scheduled. My only session with him was in late August of 2020. A few days later his secretary sent me the "new client information" paperwork. This consisted of over twenty pages of questions, guidelines, and consent forms, which required an excessive amount of signatures, and initials. However, I carefully read and signed everything and returned all of the documents to him via e-mail on Sept 9th and then waited for a reply..., and waited..., and waited. Two weeks later, on September 23rd, I still had not yet received a response; so I sent another e-mail stating that I had sent in my "new client information" and that I had not heard back from him. It is now five more days later, September 28th, and I still have not received any kind of response from his office. This level of irresponsibility is quite unbelievable and negligent, especially for a therapist. He pulled this sort of thing once before when I first sought-out his help last year in December of 2019. Back then I spoke with Michelle (his secretary), over the phone and we scheduled an appointment for him to call me for a preliminary interview. On the date of my scheduled appointment I began waiting by the phone a half hour before my scheduled time and even remained home for the rest of the day waiting for the call that never came. Months later, when I contacted his secretary again to seek help, I brought-up his failure to keep our appointment. She apologized but gave no explanation. Finally, in late August of 2020, I had my first therapy session with Dr. Carr. It went okay but seemed a bit superficial and contrived. During the session as I shared some of my life with him, he abruptly went into what I would describe as "cliché' therapy mode". Instead of taking the first steps towards a relationship by getting acquainted with me as a person and talking to me as an individual, he almost immediately tried some "techniques" which I felt were ineffective and rather comical. One of the things he began saying to me went something like this, "...and when you were a frightened, withdrawn little boy...". I quickly and tactfully silenced him by stating that when I was a kid I was not a frightened, withdrawn little boy. To the contrary, "I was a confident, independent strong kid; a bit rebellious, but overall pretty well adjusted." He also introduced the silly scenario of, "what would you say to your father if he were here right now?" I hesitated but he kept insisting so I explained to him that I'd already had that conversation with my father shortly before he passed. Both of these instances of supposed "therapeutic techniques" came across as lazy and disappointing. From my experiences thus far with Dr. Carr he seems incapable of establishing some very basic foundations for a good doctor-patient relationship. I cannot trust him to keep an appointment or to respond in a timely manner. I have little confidence that he is capable of making a personal connection with me which in my opinion is essential in counseling. All of his degrees and fields-of-training were impressive when I was looking for a therapist, but this guy is lacking some basic qualities that cannot be learned at a university. You either gain them through life experiences or you don't. However, I'm going to give him one more chance (if he ever responds). I'm going to try to keep an open mind and be receptive; but at the same time I'm going to remain very aware of the approach he takes with me.

Excellent and highly recommend! You won’t be wasting your time or throwing your money away. Hi is very experienced and he has absolutely helped me a lot.

Dr. Carr is one of the most helpful care providers I have encountered. He is non-judgemental, knowledgeable and patient. He provided many tools and perspectives on anxiety. I learned to be more kind with myself and accept and embrace what I had considered ‘flaws’. I gained coping skills for everyday life and more difficult times. This really helped me to grow and thrive and I am so much happier for having met this therapist. I highly recommend. Dr. Carr truly cares and listens. I hope Dr. Carr never retires because I cannot imagine keeping sanity without his help. Very professional and intelligent yet personable and understanding. His passion and care for people is reflected in his work and he is determined to get results. He doesn't take sides and sees the best in every person. I am immensely grateful for the work he is doing in my and my husband's life. Recommended highly to everyone. I hope Dr. Carr never retires because I cannot imagine keeping sanity without his help. Dr. Carr has been so helpful in my search for peace and happiness. I have seen other therapists and none of them compare to Dr. Carr and his approach. I have so much appreciation for his work with me. It is a blessing that I have been able to meet with Dr. Carr for the last year.
