About Dr. Warren F Neely
Reviews for Dr. Warren F Neely
I came to Dr Neely with severe right interior leg pain groin to foot. Since I do have severe scoliosis, but by Grace have great movement and flexibility from walking, yoga & swimming..... Dr Neely was the 3rd spinal MD who I saw. He took the time to go through my MRI with me and said, "The problem in leg is not in your back. In fact tho you have 45 degree curvatures, you have mobility. The problem is not in your back!" I went back to my Primary Care Provider who actually listens and I got an ultrasound of my pelvis and had 2 water cysts, ovary and tube, from other health incidents. I had robotic laser surgery with Susan Crockett, OBGYN and I got totally well. Dr Neely is a good diagnostician. He even disc replacement for one of my fellow teachers.
If we could give him six stars we would. Dr. Neely fused my husbands neck C1-C3 , 30 years ago and he has no complications to date. Amazing doctor!

I am appalled at the lack of compassion and care Dr. Neely has demonstrated for a longtime patient. He has trained his staff well to lack the empathy needed for this kind of issue which can include excruciating pain. He is unwilling to bend or even attempt to make a way.having urinary Incontinence and fecal incontinence in addition to insomnia and inability to do daily activities or even go to work due to the pressure on the nerves caused by the foraminal stenosis (clearly visible in the CT scan) which, mind you, He refused to perform even despite obvious pain levels. He continues to insist issues have nothing to do with the back yet clear evidence of the CT has been provided to him. Anybody deserves better. To wait thru conventional, non surgical treatment for waaaay longer than necessary is ridiculous. I agree with conventional non-invasive surgical treatment.By all means go that route. But to wait a year of excruciating pain? He stopped caring at least about this patient

Love Dr. Neely . Best bedside manner ; awesome surgeon . I’m ten days post op fusion with a Varilyft and very little pain. Zero complications . Highly recvomended Thank you so much ????
Dr Neely was a caring Dr who took the time to address and take care of both my husbands and my lumbar surgeries. I feel that at 30 he improved my quality of life which was rapidly deteriorating due to ruptured disc.
Dr. Neely performed surgery on me for spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis in 2010. I have not had any problems since he did my surgery, no pain. Dr. Neely is a very kind man with a very low-key but pleasant bedside manner. Excellent surgeon.
Dr. Neely is a compassionate and caring physician. He has been my doctor for over 10 years. His approach to my spine health has always been conservative. He never pushed me into surgery. As a matter of fact he encouraged me to seek second and third opinions. I would highly recommend him to my family, friends and colleagues.
I had the VariLift surgery December 2013. My life has greatly improved and I am pain free. I recommend Dr. Neely to everyone I know who need back surgery. Most people I know who have had back surgery continue to suffer for the rest of their life. My recovery period was about 2 months, after 3 months I traveled overseas for 18 hours where I lived at the time. Dr. Neely knows what he is doing and explains your condition very clearly. He has many patients, but that only testifies to how good he is. I had the VariLift surgery December 2013. My life has greatly improved and I am pain free. READ IT ALL; LONG BUT WORTHWHILE. I had back surgery with Dr. Warren F. Neely in San Antonio, Texas 3 years ago. I found him to be dismissive and dishonest when reviewing X-rays after my surgery. I ended up with a "slipped" lift which moved from a central location between 2 vertebrae to a location where it partially extended into the central canal. Pain developed after surgery and there was a real fear it was nerve pain caused by the device pressing upon them in the canal. We asked Dr. Neely about the possibility for a second surgery to repair that part of the lumbar.. He kept insisting everything was fine...even stating there had been no slippage of that device despite the verification of many X-RAYS. At our last appointment in July of 2014, My husband and I were escorted to a back room not equipped for a neurosurgeon' s patient's examination, but realized later...good and soundproofed from the waiting room. Once inside, We were verbally assaulted by this man. He angrily insisted nothing was wrong with his surgical expertise, and the lift device had not failed us or anyone else despite thE X-RAY REPORTS. X-RAYS don't lie. He invaded our personal space and stuck a finger into my husband's chest. It is interesting to note the VariLift Device he uses in his practice is manufactured by a corporation in which he has a personal financial interest. His brother is THE CEO as well. I believe Dr. Neely was more concerned about the reputation of The VariLift Device than the pain I was experiencing post op. He finally said I could have the surgery repair but would only consider the drilling off of the end of the slipped device "using a big drill" available at a hospital other than his own. This was an out-and-out attempt to frighten us and discourage me from a second repairing surgery. We walked out and have never seen Dr. Neely since. We are a quiet couple not encouraging nor accustomed to anyone's rage at us. We were totally shocked. In the last couple of years we have heard negative reviews from many other of his previous patients whom we know personally. I continue to tell my story with the hope no one else will suffer the consequences of a botched surgery as my own. After appointments and examination of my medical records with two other neurosurgeons highly rated in San Antonio, each told me I needed the laminectomy in question to be COMPLETELY REDONE. One of the neurosurgeons stated I NEVER needed anything but disc replacements considering my medical records.i have yet to have another surgery as other health issues of my own and with members of my family preclude a surgical recovery since despite nerve issues. PLEASE consider these completely true ALLEGATIONS and do not secure the neurosurgical services of Dr. Neely. You will be taking a dangerous risk and unfortunately risking the wrath and the unprofessional conduct of Dr. Warren F. Neely. No, Dr. Neely, you did not escape a nasty review from me....onejust long in coming as I heard many unfortunate tales over time to add credence to your (1) rating. It would be (0) if that was a choice. READ IT ALL; LONG BUT WORTHWHILE. I had back surgery with Dr. Warren F. Neely in San Antonio, Texas 3 years ago. … More
Both my husband and my father have had spinal surgery by Dr. Neely, and both have had terrific experiences. My dad had a varilift placed in his lower back, and my husband in his neck. Dr. Neely was wonderfully friendly (even humorous), informative and caring. And no, we are not wealthy patients...just normal folks with normal insurance. Follow up visits were very thorough, and the difference these surgeries have made in their lives is substantial. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Neely. I have been a patient of Dr. Warren Neely since 1984-1985. Since that time he has preformed five surgeries on me (three back surgeries; the last being a three level fusion, one cervical spine fusion - levels 3 - 7 and a Carpel Tunnel Release)... I would and have recommended him to family and friends. I trust him with my life....He is a wonderful doctor and has a great 'bedside' manner.
