Mrs. Violina Frenkel

Dr. Frenkel is one of the most compassionate doctors. She listens well and clearly explains how medications work with your body. I was having symptoms from a change in medication and she was able to add my appointment on last minute. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for an empathetic psychiatrist.

Dr. Frenkel is one of the least personal doctors I have ever experienced. She is dismissive and truly only keeps track of the medication she has given you. She couldn't care less about the actuality of her patients' day to day mental livelihood. She just wants your money and is nothing more than the signature on a the prescription slip. Appointments are five minutes long at most, she asks you a few questions, and then charges you a stiff $200. One time, I called to make an appointment when my medication ran out and couldn't get in to see her for a weeks. I asked for the refill to my medication in the meantime but Frenkel denied it, citing that I needed to have the appointment first- thus forcing me to stop my medication abruptly, cold turkey. I experienced withdrawal symptoms and called for days trying to explain the situation, but Frenkel was impossible to get a hold of and made her receptionist deal with the communication. It was awful. After being a patient of hers for five years, I will not be returning and could not recommend her any less. I am fiercely disappointed with her service.

She was not very nice and approachable and I didn't get to understand what was really wrong with me because she did not explain at all and I felt like she didn't want to listen to what I had to say. She just basically prescribed my meds (which was not the right ones for me) and sent me off.

She was recommended to us in-plan for insurance for our teenager who is suffering from depression in addition to previously diagnosed ADHD. She is very detached and had no interest in discussing my child's current condition aside from writing the rx for previously prescribed ADHD meds. In fact, when I asked her a specific question, she was unable (or refused) to answer. She rushed us out the door in less than 10 min. My observation is that she is a pill mill doctor at best. Very disappointing.

I have a hard time opening up to people, however I feel comfortable sharing things with this doctor. My brain is very disorganized, especial if I have to talk about myself. The right questions have to be asked if you want to really know more about me. I will try my best to be honest
