Great place for weight loss, addiction/recovery maintenance, Sculpture (non-invasive procedure that burns fat and gets rid of your unwanted fatty areas) and basically any medical concerns you may have. I lost almost 70lbs on my first round of medically assisted weight loss. Dr. Ngo is amazing and helps his clients every step of the way!! Definitely a life-changing experience!! THEY HAVE NOW ADDED BOTOX!!! I’m happier than ever before because Dr. Ngo was able to hit my very difficult wrinkle lines, which SEVERAL other doctors told me needed filler!!! Obviously the other Dr.’s just wanted to make more money off of me! Thank God Dr. NGO’s practice is more concerned about making his patients happy. Then making $$$ at every turn. I didn’t need filler, I needed the Botox to be placed in the right spots! He was able to do it seamlessly.!! Thank you so much Smart Medicine!

WARNING! MEDICAL FRAUD AND SCAMS! Vinh Ngo, the owner of "Smart" Medicine, messed up my $4860 treatment by failing to follow the manufacturer's guideline of using PATIENT FEEDBACK to adjust setting levels. Instead, without my consent or knowledge (but later admitted to), Vinh Ngo used a much weaker setting level than the one I had repeatedly requested, which made my $4860 treatment USELESS! When confronted, Vinh Ngo BLOCKED my number and emails to avoid responsibility! Then, through the Medical Boards' database (docinfo.org), which the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) describes as: "free to the public and offers the nation's most up-to-date, publicly available repository of core information about physicians", I discovered that Vinh Ngo committed MEDICAL FRAUD by providing false information about his medical credentials and qualifications, which deceived me into paying him by making me believe that he was much more qualified than he really is. Vinh Ngo FALSELY claims that his medical degree is from New York Medical College when in reality, he FAILED to earn the grades and standardized test scores necessary for admission into any medical school in the USA (his country of childhood, undergraduate, and current residence), so he attended a medical school in Mexico through a loophole called "Fifth Pathway", which the American Medical Association found so problematic, it was permanently SHUT DOWN in 2009.

I have loved working with Dr. Vinh. He has always provided great care and support for a variety of health issues that I’ve discuses with him. He is very informed on the latest and greatest treatments or weight loss and overall vibrant health. I highly recommend Smart Medicine and Dr. Vinh!

A Very Good Doctor He Listens To You ,Very Honest, Very Caring

Vinh Ngo messed up my $4860 treatment. He keeps my $$$$ and then blocked my phone calls. He also NEVER graduated from a US medical school. Keep reading. I paid $4860 of my hard earned and penny-pinched money for Sculpsure here.I told Smart Medicine the exact setting level I wanted, but without my consent and without my knowledge, they put me on not just 1, not just 2, but 3! 3 setting levels below the one that I had requested. If you are familiar with Sculpsure, you know that practitioners are supposed to use PATIENT FEEDBACK to get them to "zone 4" for the treatment to be effective, but Smart Medicine ignored my requests and never asked me about my comfort levels. Instead Smart Medicine just dictatorially applied the setting level that I didn't want. Even Dr Vinh Ngo, owner of Smart Medicine, publicly announced his opinion of the importance of reaching high enough setting level for "zone 4": realself.com/question/ph… (if he chooses to remove that information, it further demonstrates his dishonesty, but you can find it on various internet archiving sites). By ignoring my request for the setting level I wanted, Smart Medicine ruined the efficacy of this very expensive treatment I paid for. When confronted, the money-hungry and irresponsible Vinh Ngo ignored all emails and phone calls from me. It makes me cry every time I think about Vinh Ngo. Every time I look into the mirror, I am reminded of the money he scammed from me, which gives me the impulse to drop more thousands of dollars to fix their mistake, even though I am a poor grad student. I cannot get my fingers to type "Dr" in front of this monster's name because this is not how doctors should behave. Also... I also found out that Vinh Ngo did NOT graduate from a US medical school. He used a loophole to practice medicine in the US. Although he had lived in the US prior (he claims to be a Bay Area native), according to docinfo.org, he graduated from a medical school in Mexico called "Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara". He then immediately returned to the US and practiced medicine in the US through a loophole called The Fifth Pathway Program, which was deemed so problematic that it was discontinued in 2009. From ama-assn.org/sites/ama-a…: "In addition, recent correspondence from the NBME and the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) identified a number of problems with the Fifth Pathway programs as currently implemented and urged the AMA to discontinue the program." Many posts on studentdoctor.net forums will tell you that Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara tends to have low, if any, standards regarding GPA and MCAT scores, while US medical schools are extremely selective, competitive, and rigorous. Do you really want to gamble your health with a "doctor" who had to attend medical school in another country because all the medical schools in his own country would not accept him? If it were not for the now defunct Fifth Pathway loophole, Vinh Ngo would have never been able to practice medicine in the US (yet, he is still by far the most arrogant person I've ever met). I had always thought all US doctors received medical training in the US, and I wouldn't have paid Vinh Ngo if I had known better, since I've heard many horror stories about foreign doctors. The standards of medical training, care, and ethics at US medical schools are very high and are rarely, if ever, matched by other countries. I wish I knew to search him on docinfo.org before paying him any money. Vinh Ngo continues to lie about his credentials. Even on the background info of this very Yelp page, he claims to have earned a medical degree from New York Medical college (he didn't earn a medical degree there; he only earned his fifth pathway certificate there, a loophole that has been discontinued by the medical boards due to its problematic nature), which doesn't match his profile on docinfo.org, a national database maintained by the medical licensing organizations. i have Kaiser and they just don't give the service or seem to care about you , but dr ngo does! best dr. I know !! give them a try and see what I mean!

Dr. Vinh is thorough and pays close attention to his clients. He is very supportive and offers alternatives to some of the more harmful medications. I trust his knowledge and his care 100%.

I’ve been in a few times now for SculpSure. Leila is amazing! I had a ton of questions and concerns at first but she was patient and addressed all of them. She is sfriendly and I felt that I was in good hands. It works and would definitely recommend if you are interested!

AVOID. I paid $5000 for Sculpsure here. Every time I went in, I specifically requested for settings to be maxed, but my requests were not complied with. WTF? I paid $5000 for a treatment whose sole purpose is to destroy fat cells with a laser machine, which is why I asked for max settings to maximize that effect, yet that request was denied even though the manufacturer's design of having multiple settings is meant to suit client preferences (to choose their own trade-off between short-lived, mild discomfort versus maximal results of permanent fat cell death, and if max settings do not increase efficacy but increases discomfort, why would the manufacturer create the option for increased settings?), which meant that my $5000 treatment didn't give me the best possible results that the technology is capable of delivering because the settings were set to something lower than I had requested for. For $5,000 and having my requests for my setting preferences denied, I am dissatisfied with the Sculpsure treatments I received here. Smart Medicine SF has also been ignoring my last two emails regarding this issue.

Dr Ngo is a fantastic doctor with vast experience and knowledge on a multitude of highly relevant health topics. He’s on top of the most recent research and thoughtfully works with you to figure out treatment plans.

I saw Dr. Ngo for SculpSure treatments in the fall because of asymmetrical fat distribution on my belly that has plagued me since I was a teenager. I had pretty much lost hope that anything was going to help even it out as I had tried many different treatments and weight loss protocols over the years. Even when I've been leaner, the asymmetry was still obvious. When Dr. Ngo and his technician told me about SculpSure, I felt excited about the prospect of doing a treatment that could destroy the fat in a noninvasive way (laser) and had a reputation for much more even results than with fat freezing treatments. I'm so grateful I did it! After only two treatments (waiting approximately six weeks between sessions and about six more weeks afterward before I saw the full effect), my results are DRAMATIC. It's still not 100% even, but it's so much more even that I don't think anyone else would notice the asymmetry but me. My belly is overall leaner and the treated area blends in perfectly with the surrounding area- no lumps or uneven places at all. As others have said, the treatment was totally tolerable, and they adjust the intensity to what is comfortable for you. I was able to go do a vigorous workout right after the treatment with no problems whatsoever. In fact, Dr. Ngo said that exercise after the procedure could be beneficial, as moving the lymph system would help to drain the dead fat cells from the treated area. Dr. Ngo and his SculpSure technician are an amazing team. They made sure I was well informed and comfortable the whole time. As as holistic health practitioner myself, I so appreciate Dr. Ngo's overall integrative, functional, and holistic approach to medicine, and have referred clients of mine to see him when they needed to see an MD and/or had physical issues that were beyond my scope of practice. I heard about SculpSure from a friend of mine who had done it, and decided to give it a try. I really liked the idea that it is non-invasive, and requires no downtime as I didn’t want to put a hold on my gym routine. Dr. Ngo’s office is a small discreet spot in SoMa; I like that. Dr. Ngo is a very kind and thoughtful doctor. He really listened to me and was able to answer all my questions regarding the procedure. I had my abdomen treated, and I am very happy with the results. I was nervous that it was going to be painful, but they are able to adjust it according to the patients needs. The technician was very nice and attentive. Dr. Ngo has been my doctor for the past year; we started with management of my perimenopausal symptoms and later transitioned to bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Ngo is very knowledgeable, he answers all my questions, explains what to expect and makes the whole process from consultations to taking tests to follow ups and getting my prescription easy and convenient. Amost always, I felt like I was treated like just another "patient" or a number. As I have aged, I was blessed to be referred to Dr. Vinh Ngo nearly five years ago. While leading a healthy lifestyle, I have still faced a number of health challenges that required Dr. Ngo for diagnosis and treatment. First and foremost, Dr. Ngo treats you like a human being and immediately puts you at ease during face to face exams and telephone consultations. He's very friendly and personable and takes his time to listen to your concerns. Dr. Ngo is the most kind, compassionate and professional doctor I’ve ever had. He is not just trying to add patients to his practice like many other doctors. He actually takes the time to help his patients conquer whatever ailment they have - from the root of the problem! His focus is having his patients lives improve in every aspect. He doesn’t just band-aid whatever you see him for. When I began being treated by him it was like a breath of fresh air. His focus was making me a better, healthier & happier person over all (amongst treating me for my recovery/maintenance). He is by far the best doctor I’ve ever had. He cares about his patients and he doesn’t just want to treat their issues, he wants them to heal and be as strong & successful as they can be. He has always been prompt and on time when it comes to appointments, and he seems like a guy who is genuinely concerned about your well-being. He's willing to work with you to find a solution to your problems.
