In 2016 I had trouble swallowing. A scope down my throat diagnosed stomach and esphogial cancer. I met Dr Van Holtzen. He discribed a surgery he would do. He planned to remove half of my stomach, pull up some and build me a new esphagus. He did this in June of 2016. I had a feeding tube and drank liquids for six months. He followed up with CT scans twice a year and now Annually. I am cancer free. Thank you Dr VanHoltzen,

Dr. von Holzen recently did a follow-up appt. with me to discuss results of an MRI. Having had cancer in 2016, I was an emotional mess when he walked through the door, even though I'd never met him. His ability to access my emotional needs were quick and evident. He was patient, caring, and able to explain my medical situation through a diagram he drew. I never felt rushed through the appointment. In short, he dealt with me as a WHOLE PATIENT...and listened to my concerns as well as offering possible solutions to them.
