Grievance Report: Dr Todd Thompson/Neurolgogy, placed a titanium vertebrae that was TOO LARGE, leaving me with a continuing numb arm and fingers! I went to Memorial Hospital Colorado Springs #CervicalRadiculopathy at C6. Surery seemed successful, but wasn't. That botched surgery was only 5 months ago. When the same pain came back, I knew what was wrong and toughed out going to the ER. He also left me in pain from Cervical Radiculopathy, C7 since last Friday, December 2. LOOK AT THIS IMAGE! I have Disc Diseaes and the top metal vertebrae you see in this x-ray is Dr Thompsons work. You see it is way TOO BIG! The second sugery, with a MUCH better doctor (Brent Kimball), look at the perfect second disc by Dr Kimball! Shoddy work vs GREAT work! You can see how bad Dr Thompson is. All Doctor's I've seen since him agree. This is unacceptable and unfair. Patients like myself should be allowed to make autonomous decisions when appropriate, and the principle of justice should guide doctors to evaluate and alleviate pain in a nonprejudicial and nonjudgmental manner. Your ethical duty to relieve suffering is clear. (See Google reviews at bottom of this e-mail, I'm not alone). I was told I could NOT take Aleve, Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen or ANYTHING similar up to 4 weeks BEFORE surgery, because it thins the blood and I could bleed out during surgery. What am I supposed to do? Go back to your ER to get on a morphine drip, like the last time this exact same issue happened, albeit a different vertebrae. I was on morphine for 5 days! I DON'T WANT TO BE ON MORPHINE! It's Christmas, I want to be home. Soon, I may have no choice. The pain is great. When you're waiting for the insurance to approve said surgery, doctors, especially specialists and surgeons, should be sure their patient is comfortable until surgery. That's elementary. I have called Terri Baxter 8 TIMES over the last 3-4 weeks, to schedule a date for surgery. I called, not vise-versa. I wanted surgery, as frightening as it is to get your throat slit open. Memorial Hospital Grievance Letter: Dr Todd Thompson/Neurology, has left me in extreme pain after my prescription pain medication (taken exactly as prescribed, 1 every 4 hours) needed a refill, leaving me in pain from Cervical Radiculopathy, C7 since last Friday, December 2. This is unacceptable and unfair. Beginning on 12/4/2016 my second surgery with Dr Thompson for C7 $55,000 surgery was approved by Cigna. I'm not seeing him for LTC, I require surgery, as 2 MRI's have shown. The secretary has been rude and could care less about my discomfort. I was told I could NOT take Aleve, Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen or ANYTHING similar up to 4 weeks BEFORE surgery, because it thins the blood and I could bleed out during surgery. What am I supposed to do? Go back to your ER to get on a morphine drip, like the last time this exact same issue, albeit a different vertebrae I had replaced and some fusion. I was on morphine for 5 days! I DON'T WANT TO BE ON MORPHINE! It's Christmas, I want to be home. I went to Memorial Hospital Colorado Springs; for spinal surgery with Dr Todd P Thompson. #CervicalRadiculopathy at C6. The same pain remained, I knew what was wrong. Dr Thompson was great he saw me for the stenosis in my C spine and thinks I have ehlers-danlos syndrome and after a year or so now I think he is correct because of the joint problems I have and other systems I've been showing .as for my c spine their was nothing he can do at this point doing a fusion could cause other problems and just make my issue worse but I did find a combination of meds that have stopped my migraines and fevers unless I'm late on taking it but its a mix of MS contin 15 mg and 200 mg of Celebrex and 10 mg roxicodone twice daily. As long as I don't miss the time I take them I do great with maybe 1 migraine a month way better than the 20 to 30 a month I would have go to the point nothing over the counter would work and the 105° fevers were just killing me slowly. I accompanied a friend on his pre-op visit with Dr Thompson. My friend is of limited means and has almost no experience with Physicians. Dr Thompson took time to describe in detail the issue, and the operation that was facing my friend including risks as well as the positive outcomes expected. He treated my friend with the highest level of respect at this visit as well as the day of the surgery and post-op. I had a great outcome. Don't be afraid to get a needed surgery. It doesn't eliminate the pain (especially for arthritis patients) but it makes the pain much more tolerable.

I have been trying to schedule an appointment with doctor Thompson and in has been a frustrating experience, about 2 month ago ,my primary doctor send a referral to doctor Thomson's office ,I was told to get another MRI done ,which I did ,I brought them everything they asked for ,almost 6 weeks later ,and several phone calls ,I am told over and over ,my records are on the office managers desk for review ,I am in pain and am getting fed up with the unprofessional non response ,not even a courtesy call,if they can't see me ,at least tell me so ,that way I can look for a different doctor ,and work on getting another referral ! Frustrated to the max I met doctor Thompson a few years ago and he is awesome ,that's why I wanted to go back to see him for my problems

Dr. Thompson is by far the worst doctor I have ever been to. I was diagnosed with a left herniated disc, facet arthropathy, foramina stenosis, herniated nucleus pulpous, radiculopathy, degenerative disc disease, and the list goes on and I live in constant pain. Dr. Thompson told my PCP to send me back to work and said there isn't anything wrong with me. Luckily my PCP is far more intelligent than Dr. Thompson and my PCP told me to apply for state disability which I am in the process of doing.

Do not go to this fake doctor or anyone in this practice. He couldn't explain anything to me after failing miserably to fake his way through it. These people should get their licenses revoked, this is very bad! Take yourself or loved one elsewhere. This guy will cause death or even more pain.

One of the worst doctors I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with, including an extremely rude staff. 1. My first interaction with the staff was during my daughter's first appointment with Dr. Thompson. However, all of the correspondence leading up to the appointment had occurred between staff and my husband. Therefore, when I went to the clinic, I brought with me all the paperwork he told me I would need. Well, apparently I didn't bring everything needed and the two women, after I went to walk away, proceeded to talk negatively, within ear shot of the all of us in the waiting room, saying how frustrating it was that new patients don't bring the right forms considering they call. Um, I'd never spoken with them until that moment so what I brought is what I was told to be bring from my spouse. Their conduct was incredibly unprofessional and I called them out on it. Not only did they not apologize, they were unfriendly the rest of the visit and during a subsequent visit. 2. Doctor Thompson seemed wholly unconcerned that my 18-year-old has a herniated disc, a second bulging disc, shooting pains, degenerative disc disease, and Shmorl's nodes -all of which are incredibly painful and debiltating for an adult, let alone a teenager. He acknowledged what she had wrong and simply said he'd put in some PT for her. That's it. We were in his office maybe 5 minutes. She went on to do 6 weeks of PT. It did nothing. We called back. They said try epidural injections, which we did. Three times. None of them worked. And not once did they offer her even a Tylenol for pain. We ended up taking her to the ER to have intravenous pain meds because she was in agony. 3. Fast forward several months. The pain has become so severe that my daughter had to withdraw from college last week and can barely walk. We called this last Friday (11/18/16) to explain how badly her pain and limited mobility have progressed and to (hopefully) seek another appointment to proceed to the next stage, whatever that may be. Staff said they'd talk with the doctor to see IF they'd see her. IF. IF. IF. ???? SHE CAN BARELY MOVE. Her pain is chronic and affecting every aspect of her life. She left school. She sleeps in broken hours. She struggles to stand from a seated position. We had to move her room upstairs because she can't handle walking up/down the stairs and, yet, they don't believe it's serious enough to be seen or have new images?!! Apparently, they don't need new MRI images because they have the old ones and know what's going on already (actual thing they told my daughter). I am LIVID. I have talked to other people who are familiar with this staff and doctor and none of them have anything redeeming to say. We will be moving on to a doctor and clinic who actually cares about patients, which is unfortunate for my daughter because it means starting the process all over with someone new, but it'll be worth it to *finally* get her adequate medical care. Spare yourself a useless, reprehensible clinic and find a different neurosurgeon. One of the worst doctors I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with, including an extremely rude staff. 1. Dr. Thompson is great but I had to wait 4 months for my 1st appointment. I then had my MRI on my back done and got back in to see him in about 2 weeks. He then wanted me to get an MRI on my neck. I scheduled my MRI and then called the office to schedule the follow-up. His staff has never been overly friendly, but the person that I tried to schedule with was absolutely rude. I have already called my referring physician to see another doctor. That is sad because I liked Dr. Thompson but I will not go somewhere that the paid staff is allowed to be uncaring and rude. The first appointment I ever had with Dr. Thompson, he thoroughly explained to me the infection that I had in m skull, reviewing my MRIs with me. He made sure I had an understanding of everything after not getting anywhere with several other doctors before him. During that appointment he scheduled my surgery, saying that we needed to make this a priority and he performed my surgery the next week, the day before Thanksgiving. I am in recovery now, waiting for my new skull to be made and then Dr. Thompson will implant it in a few weeks once my infection is gone. Take your loved one elsewhere, this doctor is extremely incompetent. A top rated doctor should be able to determine the difference between a lesion and effusion. "This looks like a little fluid in your brain. No need to keep taking pictures of it." After a second MRI clearly showed an effusion. No mention of this getting infected, no recommendation to continue monitoring it. Went to a real neurosurgeon in Denver. Surgery scheduled to remove fluid, do not put your life in his incapable hands.

I made an appointment with his office over two-and-a-half months ago today when I went in for my appointment they told me they don't take my insurance. My Primary Care Physician's office sent all my information back in September and you think they would have had the courtesy to tell me at that point in time they don't take my insurance and cancel an appointment! After reading all his other reviews maybe it's best not to have seen him and go elsewhere for my services

6/2 /20216 re: 10 am appointment on 6/2 I was traveling to Colorado Springs to the office of Dr Todd Thompson for my scheduled appointment. The appointment was made at least a month prior. I left my home in Florissant at 9am to be sure I had time to get to the office on time. Prior to this, at the request of the person making appointments, I drove in to bring my MRI so the Doctor would have it before my appointment to review. At approx. 9:30 on 6/2 someone called from the office to cancel my appointment and asked that I call to reschedule. I called right back and was told the next appointment was 7/11/16. Now I don't know about you but I don't make Dr appointments just for the fun of it, I am in pain and am looking for someone to help me.
