My brother was referred by his primary care doctor for an mTBI (mild traumatic brain injury) and he DOES NOT SEE PATIENTS WITH BRAIN INJURIES OF ANY KIND. We proceeded to ask on the phone if they have any recommendations and they do not give out recommendations. Wouldn't it be a good idea for this practice to notify it's referring base they DO NOT SEE BRAIN INJURIES and REMOVE CONCUSSIONS FROM A CONDITION THEY TREAT?!! I saw Dr. Nguyen of this year of 2019. My main concern was that i was having bad headaches and other neurological issues and only decided to focus on the headaches. I was telling him about my other issues and didnt bother listening and condescending. He's the type to talk talk and talk without letting you get a word. After telling him that my "cluster headaches" didnt seem to be the right diagnosis because i was also dealing with parasthesia, gastroparesis(i didn't know i had this at the time), and left sided weakness he told me to see someone else. The only thing i do appreciate is that he looked at my MRI scan because some doctors don't bother and only rely on the report. Overall, if your dealing with something simple involving health go ahead and go to him, however if you believe you have complicated symptoms don't go to him because it'll be a waste of time. A patient listener, soft speaking, extremely intelligent doctor who has been a rare find and a blessing for my health issues.

My family member's experience visiting Dr. Nguyen was positive, until we needed his office to execute the necessary paperwork to coordinate with other healthcare providers (a radiologist and a pharmacist). In both cases it took multiple phone calls and persistent follow up by the patient to get partial results. The was very little accountability from the doctor or the receptionist. After multiple phone calls, we got none returned by Dr. Nguyen, and his staff was incompetent. The doctor gave poor instructions that were inconsistent with the procedures the staff follows. The receptionist does not return calls and will not allow patients to talk to the doctor under any circumstances. This has been our experience. He was recommended by a friend. He's an excellent physician who's on top of all the latest researches and able to provide important recommendations. Dr. Thien Nguyen is one of the best neurologists in the DC area. Extremely bright and accessible and he truly cares. He was the only doctor (out of many) who put in the time and effort to unravel a very complex set of medical challenges so he could guide me toward appropriate specialists for a rare condition while managing the symptoms until I could get in. Anything related to neurology appears to be rather frustrating, a function of the process, limited number of specialists overwhelmed by demand and often the condition. We found that communication was something we had to work on together with his office, but having done so, I truly believe they care and will invest the necessary time and effort to understand your goals and guide your care. I have been taking my dad there for a year to monitor a few conditions. I don't know if he is a good clinician or not as he seemed very passive in his approach and we didn't get any guidance. When he closed the office for a few months during the pandemic, he would answer occasional questions on the phone. I called him based on my dad having a possible side effect of one of his medications and needed to understand what to do next. He was short with me and suggested I google the medical studies and read them myself. Now that he is taking appointments again, he won't do telemedicine visits or return calls from patients. He left a note in my dad's file that if we can't come in for an office visit, we need to find another doctor. This is what the receptionist read to me.

I made an appointment for this doctor on my ONLY day off and he refused to see my mother with Alzheimer's disease because she lost her ID and we have not been able to acquire a new one because she loses things all the time. What a heartless doctor... even after I explained how bad of a situation we are in they refused to treat her and help us. He is very patient and knowledgeable. I feel confident in him.

Really such an amazing doctor. He really knows his stuff and listens to you. He doesnt rush you through the process as some doctors do. Highly recommend Dr. Thien Nguyen!

Doctor Nguyen is knowledgeable & friendly. He is very thorough in his medical approach to ensure that his patient receives the correct diagnosis and proper care. Nobody ever has time to complete reviews, but I felt compelled to share my opinion of Doctor Nguyen as a 5 Star doctor. I’m especially impressed in terms of his skill & compassion for people. I felt Dr. Nguyen spent plenty of time with me, explained things well, and gave me a lot of information without a lot of overly-complex terminology. He also seemed to be aware of, and respected, the fact that not all things he might recommend would be covered by my insurance. I don't know how effective the treatment will be, as I have just started. But at least he gave me realistic hope that I'll get relief from an issue that has bothered me for a long time. Office staff, location/free parking, interior, website were all fine. A few notes: You may need to wait 2 weeks for an appointment, so book as soon as you know you need to go. Also, suite 202 is at the BACK of 2nd floor (but a short walk), NOT the front.

I had a very frustrating and awful experience here with reception. The doctor was outstanding the first time I met with him and I believe diagnosed me correctly. I called him one time after prescribed medication and he called me right back. I called him back before my follow up appointment, though and heard nothing back. I was in so much pain and really scared so I called reception, the doctor, and emailed them twice. Rachel with reception had no empathy for me over the phone and got very terse when I said I might need to go to another doctor as soon as possible. She told me nothing was available and urged me to keep pushing back an MRI appointment several weeks because insurance "would not approve it in time". When I said I wanted to try and get a second opinion and see another doctor because they could not fit me in, she was just nasty! She told me the doctor wouldn't see me and threatened to cancel my appointments with the doctor. Ultimately the doctor declined to see me.

Horrible doctor, with terrible bedside manner. I felt completely brushed off. He told me I had a condition that didn't have, while neglecting to inform me of other vital/life threatening findings in my lab work. I do not recommend this doctor. He rushes, staff opened the office 20 minutes late and he comes waltzing in 10 minutes later, with no apologies, just horrible from start to finish.

My mom went to Dr Thien Nguyen because she doesn't speak English well and she thought Dr. Nguyen would accommodate and help translate for her. Unfortunately, she went through some sciatic nerve pain and her experience with him and his staff did not help. His staff was rude, unfriendly, and unhelpful - and Dr. Nguyen doesn't do well following up with his patients either, apparently. It's as if she is his last priority every time she is in his office - the last time she was there, she was in his waiting room crying in pain and he was heard laughing in the back with staff. His staff did not do anything to accommodate her either. He promised to review her MRI CD by a certain date, only to have gone on vacation for two weeks without notifying her. Now her MRI CD is sitting locked in his room and he failed to leave her CD with staff so that she could pick it up and bring it to another doctor to examine. Not quite sure why he treated my mother that way, but this isn't the type of place you'll want to go to if you're looking for an accommodating doctor and professional staff who will take care of you. Dr. Nguyen spent all the time needed to go over tests and outcomes. He admitted when he didn’t know about a specific disease. Instead of stringing me along and throwing meds at me, he encouraged me to see another neurologist. It was refreshing to have a doctor set aside his ego. His staff had always been very nice and helpful.

Dr.Nguyen and his staff are very caring and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and helpful Dr. and staff as well.

Dr. Nguyen took the time to thoroughly evaluate my symptoms and to explain medical conditions in understandable terms. At no point did I feel rushed by Dr. Nguyen. Kind and knowledgeable, he communicates thoughtfully. He ordered appropriate tests, and he and his office followed up promptly. I have been under the medical care of Dr. Thien Nguyen for a while now and feel that cannot be in better hands!!! Dr. Nguyen is an excellent professional, who takes the time to listen to his patients, carefully analyze your case, and recommend the best approach for treatment. He has my utmost admiration both, personally and professionally, and I thank him and his wonderful staff for always providing me with such great care!!! Dr Nguyen is the best. He knew exactly what the problem was. He has great "bed side" manner. And I highly recommend.

Dr. Nguyen brings in a sense of calm and professionalism when he is interacting with a patient. He makes it a point not to rush through a discussion with the patient during the visit. His explanations, if not understood by the patient, are then broken down to a level where the patient has a more clear understanding of what their diagnosis means. It is refreshing to be able to find a physician of this magnitude in today's world of medicine.

Very unprofessional; refused to administer proper testing and is biased. Does not listen to patient request or questions. The worst services given especially if you have the least best insurance or medicaid, Treats patients like they are beneath him.

One of our participants whose hand tremor has been significantly improved. I don't need to worry that he would drop the food from the plate anymore. We also observed that the other participant in our medical day care center the agitation and irritability has diminished after the meds kicked in the system. She is not sedative at all after being treated. We are well pleased. Thank you Dr. Nguyen!

There are very few doctors as accommodating, caring and patient as Dr. Nguyen. I am fortunate to have him as a physician.

I recommend Dr. Nguyen highly. He was able to Dx my fairly rare condition in five minutes after I had gotten wrong info from another doc. He' very accessible by phone. He takes as long as you need both in the office & on the phone.

Dr. Nguyen was very informative concerning my existing problem. He explained the possibilities for future changes and suggested options. He took his time and never rushed through the visit. I highly recommend him. I wish more doctors treated their patients as well as Dr. Nguyen.

Dr. Nguyen is extremely knowledgeable about the latest applications in his field, and always tells you the pros and cons of any treatments, your situation etc without issue or problem. He spends QUALITY as well as QUANTITY time with you every time you treat with him no matter what to help you make informative decisions regarding your health care. I never feel that my questions go unanswered, period. Always helpful and caring.
