Dr. Terry Alan Teplitz

Dr. Teplitz may mean well, but he is incompetent. He is unfamiliar with newer treatments and not skilled with prescribing the older medications. I had a long and terrible experience with him. I could go on, but suffice it to say: even if he takes your insurance, do not see him.

Teplitz is primarily interested in milking insurers and patients. I understand the need to try different medications and doses for optimizing. But this doctor insists on a separate and full office visit for every minor change in the prescription. And nothing of substance happens in those frivolous visits. Worse yet, I suspect he starts with the least effective medication so he can drag out the process and bill for as many visits as possible. I know because I switched to another psychiatrist and got much better results without all the fuss.

We tried to make an appointment for my mother, who has dementia. Dr. Teplitz said he would see my mother, but only my mother, and would not speak to my father or I about her. She has dementia and does not form memories, therefore she cannot be much help in managing her own care. We are seeking someone to help us manage medications. Dr. Teplitz said, and I quote, "Medicare doesn't pay me enough to talk to three people." That is garbage response. I can't believe a "doctor" spoke to my father the way "Dr." Teplitz did. We found Dr. Teplitz to be a caring and respectful doctor whose treatment plan worked very well for the patient. We would absolutely recommend him for geriatric patients.

This doctor will ask for money well in advance of the treatment, overcharges for his services, and admonishes the patient when they have a question about the billing. He appears much more interested in getting his money than helping the patient. There are excellent practitioners in this area of medicine who genuinely care about their patients in addition to getting paid. Seek them out.

I found Dr. Teplitz to be rude. When I called to make the appt., he told me that the appt. would be about 50 min. He ended the appt. after 20 minutes. The appt. was the afternoon before a long weekend and the office was very crowded. I had the feeling he was likely doing nothing but dispensing prescriptions for medication refills. Never would I return to him and never would I recommend him. I am a senior and this is the first time I have ever filled out a satisfaction survey.

Extremely rude, unprofessional and abrasive. Cares more about collecting his money than he does about helping his patients. I would not recommend him.
