Dr. Tanaka Junior Dune

After experiencing rectal & pelvic pain since my early teens, I finally learned that the condition had a name - Pelvic Myofascial Pain in November 2017 after finally becoming disabled from the pain a month before. Dr. Dune was the third GYN who had given me this diagnosis in a year but finding adequate management without drugs was still a challenge. What will always make her stand out to me; a registered nurse for the past fifty years, was her knowledge of a part of the female anatomy that the dozen or so GYNs I had consulted for the condition for 30 years, didn't mention or seem to know even existed. Her explanation and demonstration have allowed me to come up with a management plan for this crippling condition. When I saw Dr. Dune a year ago, she was warm,caring, and concerned. She told me to come back in a year for follow-up. This year when I returned, she refused to examine me,and when she did it was superficial. She said "you still have to go to a gynecologist because I'm not doing a complete exam" and "don't come back unless you see something sticking out and want to do something about it". In short, she was rude,uncaring, and rushed. What caused such a change in a year?

Dr. Dune is the closest I've come to concierge medicine. She listened intently and has repeatedly gone above and beyond using her own knowledge, colleagues inside the hospital and resources outside the hospital to come to a diagnosis. She has no ego about working with other colleagues and has become my advocate when other drs had turned me away due a rare condition. She is patient, kind and makes sure her staff gets all of the paperwork you need to go through. She even calls you back herself!
