Syed Javed Shahid

Have been a patient of Dr. Shahid for over 20 years. He has done several procedures on my neck and spine. Most recently he repaired my back to the point where I can walk again. He is very compassionate and truly cares about ones well being.

IN 1988, SAW DR. SHAHID, NEW DOC IN TOWN, DIAGNOSED MY CONDITION IN 5 SECONDS, GAVE ME OPTIONS, IMPRESSED ME WITH HIS WORDS, “QUALITY OF LIFE”. MY QUALITY OF LIFE WAS NOT, WENT FOR SOME PT, PAIN EXCRUCIATING, PRETTY MUCH SEDENTARY, THAT IS WHEN I DECIDED TO GO FORWARD WITH SURGERY. 3 DAY STAY IN THE HOSPITAL, YOU KNOW INSURANCE. PROCEDURE WENT WELL, CONTINUED TO RECOOP AT HOME, DID MY EXERCISES AS I SHOULD. NOW 30+ YEARS LATER, STILL CAN TOUCH MY TOES, LOVE TO DANCE, AND SWEAR LIKE A TROOPER. KEEPING ACTIVE, NOT SEDENTARY IS CRUCIAL TO RECOVERY. GETTING ON IN YEARS EXPERIENCING SOME TWINGES HERE AND THERE, NOTHING TO REALLY COMPLAIN ABOUT. SCIATICA (nerve pain down the leg) HAS TO BE THE WORST PAIN EVER. DIAGNOSIS WAS L5 HERNIATED DISC. WITH NEUROSURGERY, MICROSCOPIC, THE INCISION WAS APPROX. AN INCH AS COMPARED TO WHAT ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS WERE DOING IN THOSE DAYS, INCISIONS 6-7 INCHES. VERY PLEASED WITH SHAHID AND THE RESULTS. TODAY, HIS PRACTICE TOO BIG, PA’s. GOOD LUCK.

Dr Shahid combines the utmost skill in his surgical rofession with a true humanitarianism and care for the patient as a person. He is outstanding!

I usually don’t post ratings or comments. However, I wish someone had forewarned me. Dr. Shahid is a wonderful man but he does not have the time to take on more patients. I spent an extra month in severe pain due to Dr. Shahid’s lack of time for my case. I have switched to a new neurosurgeon. They have done more in one week than Dr. Shahid did in a month.

I have known Dr. Shahid for over 10 years. I wouldn't go to anyone else. He is a fabulous Doctor and a fabulous person. He takes the time to explain everything and starts with the most conservative course of treatment, based on the exams and the diagnostic images he has. This is ESPECIALLY important to know. Any complaints of having to wait for an appt or at an appt is just because of this. If it were you in the room, would YOU want to feel rushed? He is well worth the wait. Cary C

Very nice man; slightly patient with neurotic patients who are nervous pre-surgery... Very quick to suggest surgery as the *only option*...Dr. Shahid operated on me in February 2016 (l4-l5 microdiscectomy); i have "failed back surgery" as a result, 3 years later, but at least i can walk, *constant pain*, but i can walk for a time without pain. I previously consulted him for c5-c7 severe foraminal stenosis; he argued surgery; i argued for PT & glad i did because PT worked well. Sean rules : )

Dr shahid is a kind and thoughtful dr always making me feel cared for and making himself available. My surgery went perfectly. Consider your self lucky if he is your surgeon. AND he did not rush me into surgery.

had surgery in 1993 to remove scar tissue under an existing bone fusion. 12 years later a foriegn body artifact pushed out of my skin from the surgery area. It left a fistula and osteomylitis behind. The damage it left behind was extrely damaging. By boney fusion failed and was replaced by rods. Now i am going in for hip replacement surgery. The artifact left inside me was just a rectangular shaped 1" plastic square. Not only that but Dr. Shahid is not big on pain reliever=0. I had 11lbs presure

It took me six weeks to get an appointment. I really liked Dr. Shahid. He explained the next steps and getting an MRI, which his office staff would call and get approved. 2 days later I lost feeling in my leg and called the office and the staff said a doctor would call me back and he never did. I called twice the next week to get the MRI. No one has ever called me back in the 3.5 weeks since I saw him. I had to go somewhere else and everything was done in less than 2 weeks.
