Dr. Steven J. Scheer

I was referred to Dr. Scheer for a sleep study for possible narcolepsy. I did a telehealth call with him one week later for the results. He said hello, and the next words were said to me with absolutely no empathy or caring… you have emphysema and should see a pulmonologist. After getting over the shock I finally asked him what about the narcolepsy. His answer was… I GUESS you have narcolepsy. I saw my GP & he said you can’t come up with that diagnosis from a sleep study. My GP referred me for a breathing test, and also a pulmonologist. The Breathing Test would tell if I had emphysema or not, and the diagnosis was, I do NOT have emphysema. I have since seen the pulmonologist, and that diagnosis was, I do NOT have emphysema. Dr. Scheer put me thru severe distress & depression. I have never had a doctor that was so cold. A miss diagnosis is a horrible thing to go through, under any circumstances, but especially when it could mean your life. The pulmonologist has scheduled me for another sleep study & another test to get her own results . I most definitely do not recommend Dr. Steven Scheer. I don’t want anyone to go through what he put me through

After Dr. Scheer diagnosis of possible sleep apnea, he said someone will call me to set up an appointment to either obtain a take home sleep apnea test equipment or to schedule a sleep over to be tested. Four months have gone by with no phone calls or return phone calls from his staff; finally , out of no where, I get a call from his so called office manager, Barbara, who called to remind me of my appointment TOMORROW! I told her I never heard from her office in 4 months with any information and was not aware of my sleep over appointment and Barbara went off on me on how inconsiderate I was breaking the appointment and that I lied about them never calling me or contacting me about the appt for tomorrow. I tried to tell Barbara that I never heard from them about any appt especially about one that requires me to sleep over to get sleep tested. So she promptly told me it was my fault in the rudest fashion you could ever imagine. Don’t go through the experience I had. Call Dr. Cancel instead, a pulmonary specialist.

The pulmonologist has also scheduled another sleep, study through her office and another test to get her own results. I most definitely do not recommend Dr. Steven Scheer to anyone.

dr Scheer is a nice person but I have had real issues with getting proper documentation from him to send to Lincare to get my supplies for Cpap. I have waited 3 months and still am unable to get supplies even though I am compliant. Office staff does not answer phone and respond to solve problem

I have gone to Dr. Sheer for about 15 years and he is a great doctor. I really appreciate him. I would recommend him to my family and friends. 5 Stars Jackie Tucker

I love this guy. He is caring and courteous. Diagnosed my sleep apnea with the best possible solutions while steering me away from less affective solutions.

I really like Dr. Scheer as a person, but he was ineffective for me. I have chronic health conditions and severe insomnia, and he didn't implement anything that helped. He focused on possible sleep apnea at first, but the CPAP didn't help my sleep quality or exhaustion and caused me to keep getting sick, even though I cleaned it as directed. He tested for narcolepsy and MG, but once those were ruled out, he didn't know what to do. Every time something didn't work, he'd schedule my next appointment for 3-6 months later... Just leaving me while I was in the midst of severe insomnia and exhaustion without a solution! Why? Like we still needed to be problem solving, as I was still suffering and my health and functionality were still greatly impacted. He wound up just telling me to research light boxes online to see if those help. I tried, but there's no single clear cut light box that I could determine was what he was talking about. Like... there are lots of different results that come up, and there was really no effort to problem solve once the most common two or three sleep disorders were ruled out. Another reviewer mentioned he's amazing for fibromyalgia, and I highly disagree. If you have narcolepsy or cataplexy, he'd probably be a great doctor to see I really like Dr. Scheer as a person, but he was ineffective for me. A complete waste of time and money. I had the sleep study and 4 appointments. The bill was over $12,000. I was told I had delayed REM sleep. His expert advice: "if you get tired, take a nap". That was it, nothing further. I would not recommend Dr. Scheer to an

Did not care for level of service or treatment. It felt like a fast-food approach to treatment with every appointment taking 3 to 4 months to get in. The minute I went to see another doctor in another city, he immediately found what was wrong and I got better within days.

I was severely misdiagnosed in my home state. After seeing Dr. Scheer, I now have a life again, and a proper diagnosis. I was told in home state that I was manic depressive, but Dr. Scheer discovered that I have narcolepsy with cataplexy. Now on medication for treatment, I am far less depressed and I thank him and his team for giving me my life back. I was severely misdiagnosed in my home state. I applaud Dr Scheer on his 1 on 1 interviews. It helps when someone listens to u instead of over talking u when you explain the problem. Although I have a very severe issue & cant sleep, I'm willing to listen & go by a schedule he has given me. I still cant sleep solidly or for more than 2 1/2 to 4 hrs a nite. I feel we'll figure this out. This no sleep & over medicating myself is really frustrating. 1 by 1 we are eliminating some of these useless meds. The anxziety at bed time is killing me.

Dr. Scheer is the most pleasant and caring doctor that I have ever seen. I feel so comfortable talking to him, unlike any of the other doctors I have seen. I would definitely recommend Dr. Scheer.

I have visited Dr. Scheer several times during the process of sleep apnea testing, equipment needed to use, various Cpap mask options and progress in my case. I have wrapped up that phase and am now 'free' for another year. I found his office staff, procedure, organizational structure, bedside manner and professionalism above reproach. Five Stars - no hesitation.

Dr Scheer is fine, its his staff that is bad. Went to office to pay bill, after calling first to make sure someone was there that could take my payment. Lady behind the glass said she was not authorized to take my payment. Other two ladies were on the phone. One finally got off the phone, and was going to help me, other lady still on phone said NO she would take care of me when she got off the phone. No one at their office cares about the customer

He gave me several medications that gave me severe diarrhea and caused me to faint. Then he sent me to a neurologist, full screening, and stress test saying if it was his RX that caused the problem, he would be the first to own up. The doctors looked at what he prescribed and said that was a listed side effect in some people. When I came back, even with my file in front of him, he suggested some of those same meds again. Eventually he said I should be happy to get a total 6-8 in 2 hr pieces.
