Dr. Steven Jay Reubel

Dr. Reubel was rude, impolite and unprofessional. Dr. Reubel thought he had extracted my entire tooth until his assistant told him part of my tooth still remained in my mouth. Please RUN from this doctor.

I was nominated for the top honor of the Florence Nightengale award as a nurse due to my changing the way Northern Kentucky did patient care. I was the Admissions Coordinator of three states for Veterans. I was forced by the Chief to be on the JACHO team, which led to Cincinnati Veterans Medical Administration being passed, and was instrumental in another grassroots program being accredited. Dr. R told me just before my tooth extraction (which had been compromised, requiring 5x being on antibiotics) that he could not order me pain medication. That was due to two out of three of my diabetic medications. He told me there would be pain and not to be alarmed. He called me the day of extraction, but I was so uncomfortable that I did not answer my phone or listen to voicemail for three days. Dr. R illustrated that he knew how out of control my diabetes was, as I was on three different diabetic medications. There was an x-ray sent to him of the tooth. As the pain never went away, I had a fever, and my finger was swollen from knuckle to knuckle from a MINOR burn, suggested to me that I had an infection. The oral surgeon covering for Dr. R immediately ordered me antibiotics and gargle rinse to fight bacteria. I believe I also had a dry socket, and I had an emergency dental appointment scheduled (though my dentist said by the time of my appointment the dry socket would be resolved, and I agreed as I noticed some healing, but pain continued). There were other irregularities which makes me question his focus and bedside manner. My dentist did extend my course of antibiotics. It should be noted that I have had most of my teeth extracted, many at a time, most without general anesthesia, and never experienced problems such as this during or after procedures, including immediately when I would have thought the novacaine would have numbed it. Kudos to his Office Staff and Dental Assistant, but I would NEVER recommend this oral surgeon.

Dr. Reubel removed 2 of my teeth on the same day. I had no problem.

The office staff was courteous and friendly. I was in and out within about 40 minutes. Dr. kept it light-hearted, joked and was friendly. No pain during the extraction and really no feeling of pressure either. Would recommend this office.

i had my wisdom teeth removed here and i will say they’re not terrible but the front desk lady made many comments about my blue hair which in turn made me very self conscious going in. While getting the IV they missed multiple times which caused a lot of bruising and blood because i woke up with dried blood on my hands, in my finger nails, and where they were putting my IV, this made my arm sore for the next few days during recovery. Once i woke up Dr. Reubel was very rude to me and was yelling at me to be quiet and i about started crying because i had no sense of what was going on and he sat there yelling at me. Please do not go here! He very clearly makes it feel that he does not care about you as a person and the pain you might be in following surgery. If you ask for a follow up just to check that everything is ok, he most definitely gives the impression that he is being inconvenienced by you and won’t even look in your mouth when you are there. He told me that he warned me it would be harder since I’m in my thirties and yet did nothing for me. I left his office in tears. They also wouldn’t let me see what they took out. I have never left a negative review in my life but felt compelled to do so for him. After talking with friends about my experience, I’ve found I’m not the only one that’s had a bad experience with him. *update-almost a year later since my two wisdom teeth removal and I still don’t have full feeling in my face. Mr. Ruebel (not a typo) should lose his license if you ask me. He lacks any compassion whatsoever and completely forgets what the Hippocratic Oath means. As such I refuse to call him a doctor. All he is truly concerned about is his money. This is painfully evident in the shady tactics he and his staff employ. They gave me misinformation about the final cost due at the the time of surgery, only to jack up the price (in my case more than double) and blame insurance it on insurance issues, even though they were provided ALL of the information they asked for prior to the procedure. I can't imagine allowing him to operate on me, when he and his staff can't even get something that simple correct and then blame the patient for their incompetence. After searching and finding another surgeon, I also realized that Mr. Ruebel's practice didn't even check for any allergies to the medications they were planning on prescribing. Just another example of how Mr. Ruebel only cares about his wallet instead of the well being of his patients. Don't waste your time. Find another surgeon who actually has compassion. Dr. Reubel and his staff were amazing with my son's orthodontic extractions. They were patient, kind, and compassionate with my child's care!

I was referred to Dr. Reubel by my dentist to have a tooth pulled that the whole back broke off. Everyone in the office was friendly and professional. Had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. I was recommended Dr Reubel by my dentist. I looked up his credentials and was impressed. The process was simple, the price with my insurance was not bad at all. I had complete confidence in Dr Reubel to do my surgery without a hitch and he did not disappoint. Its been almost 2 weeks since my surgery and everything is healing up nicely with almost no pain. Staff does not give accurate information for appointment times called day of to verify appointment time was told 1pm only to find out the person who scheduled my appointment had me down for the wrong time. Appointment was scheduled for 1:15pm.

I had two teeth removed from him a while back ago. Most doctors offices and so do a pre authorization check or what not with the insurance to verify co pays and so on. I paid what I was told I had to pay before the operation. Then get a bill in the mail months later stating that I still owe a balance. You guys miss quoted it. It’s your fault. They proceeded to call my wife when I’m at work and threatened her over that balance and demanded a credit card number. First off do not call my wife and act like that. Secondly it was your guys mistake that you missed quoted it wrong with our insurance. Any other doctors office would of told you that your insurance is only covering a portion and your going to have to cover the rest before doing the procedure. Dr. Reubel is dismissive, rude, hasty and does sloppy work. I went in for a simple wisdom tooth extraction, he left one side quite rough and I had immediate complications and dry socket so went in for a follow-up since it had been two weeks and still a great deal of pain. He was dismissive and made me feel bad for coming back in, acting as if he was inconvenienced by my return. A month later I have a ridge of bony jawbone protruding into my gum, it has almost broke the surface. It is painful and inflamed, I went back in for him to check it out and received same dismissive rude attitude, he goes and retrieves a metal tool to "push" the ridge of spiny bone and when I returned home the gum is now bleeding, he has made it worse. I do not recommend going to Dr. Reubel and will be finding a new surgeon ASAP who will have to clean up the sloppy mess he has made of my jawbone/gum. What a Top Notch dental surgery practice !! I had Dr Reubel (and staff) extricate 3 teeth on 9-22-2020... My anxiety was high, to say the least on the morning of surgery. The entire staff was very comforting and compassionate. They explained the process very thoroughly, not only during my consult but also on the morning of surgery. The Covid-19 protocol was spot on and very professional. I felt very comfortable in their office... They explained post surgery care not only to me, but also my driver... I went into the office a week ago to have a tooth pulled. I was pretty nervous about it, however all the staff made me feel extremely comfortable. My tooth was pretty broken down, but Dr. Reubel had it out rather quickly. He handed me an ice pack and some home care instructions, and it's been healing great. This man and his staff do not care about you or if you are in pain. Just don't go to him, save yourself the pain and humiliation this DDS will cause you. Find another provider! *Doubly so if you are overweight and do not want to be likened to an obese child to your face.

Brought my daughter in for an extraction an Dr.Reubel literally yelled at her for taking off the BP cuff. His bedside manor is atrocious. The staff aren't properly trained to deal with teens and children. This will be the last time my family enters this office.

My experience at the hands of this specialist was the most unimaginably painful and unkind medical experience of my life. Not only were there excruciating complications from the procedure but the disdain and unprofessional manner of treatment when I returned for help was humiliating and undignified. Although the staff tried to compensate there is no excuse for ignoring a patient's pain and proceeding with procedures without novocain to accommodate a schedule. I was appalled and hope others can be spared this treatment by selecting a doctor who is not only more technically capable but also has patient's care front of mind. My experience is an older one, but I have never been to a worse oral surgeon in my life. He told me the only way I would be sedated is if I paid for it as my insurance didn't cover it unless it was medically necessary. I told him numbing really didn't work well on me but he proceeded. The first of my two impacted wisdom teeth came out relatively well. When he started on the bottom, I jumped because I could feel everything. He actually got angry, put another shot of Novocain in my gum and then IMMEDIATELY started cutting the gum. The nurse actually held me in the chair. Dr. Reubel said I was just feeling pressure. No, it was the extreme pain of a scalpel slicing my gum! I walked out in tears to the stares of everyone in the waiting room. Within 2 days, I was bruised from my temple to the bottom of my neck. When I started with a new regular dentist later that year, I told him of my experience and that I went to Reubel because he was the only oral surgeon in my network, my dentist said he hated having to send people to him because of the horror stories he had heard like mine. Literally the absolute BEST experience I’ve had at an oral surgeon!! The Doctor was very honest/AMAZING and his staff was nothing less than PHENOMENAL!! I will definitely be back here and refer anyone with oral issues to them!!

I had one wisdom tooth pulled I was really nervous all the staff made me feel really comfortable. I was in and out quickly first time being sedated went home took a nap woke up no pain. Doctor is really funny.

Great experience. One of my wisdom teeth broke in half and was very painful. I made an appointment with my dentist who did x-rays and verified that it needed to be pulled. They recommended 1 other wisdom tooth be pulled as well because of the angle it had grown in. They then suggested I have all 4 pulled. They said it would be 1100 with their surgeon, including my insurance. I found Dr. Reubel and they got me in very quickly. . He was honest and to the point. He didn't try to convince me to have all of them pulled and listened to my concern that this tooth was hurting and needed to be extracted soon. During the procedure he was again very honest and had great communication every step of the way. From the time I walked into the door to the time I walked out was only about 30 minutes. Great experience considering most people don't like dentists/oral surgeons. He called me personally that night. Which I appreciated since it is usually a receptionist or something IF they even call. Overall fantastic group. Reception, surgical assistant, and Reubel himself were all awesome. Next issue I have I'll definitely be visiting them. Great experience. I had my wisdom teeth pulled here. He did such a good job! They were just pulled yesterday and i have no pain today. I see most of the not so good reviews on here are in regards to the staff/sugeron's humor and attitude. I personally would trade a great work for meaningless office banter anyday. My daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted today. Dr Reubel and his staff were very professional and caring . He explained all of the post operative care thoroughly and even wheeled her out to the car himself! She is doing great!

When I went into the office I was frightened over what I felt a long, painful surgery. The EXPERIENCED Dr. Reubel and Techs and Office staff were so layed back and acted like it was a walk in the park, so I walked with them. I had four large Torus (google it) removed from my lower jaw and 12 teeth extracted, plus bone removed and gums smoothed reconcructively for anticipated dentures. Was put to sleep. Did not bleed or take a one pain pill afterward. They are that good and also friendly!

Just took my brother in law here for an extraction. Dr. Reubel was very efficient and explained the procedure in simple to understand directions and made us feel informed and comfortable. The staff was so caring and informative. If you need an oral surgeon, he is by far the best.

Dr. Reubel was very rude to my family! He kept giving us instructions, at a fast rate, and when we looked at him confused, he was talking to us in a condescending manner. I will never take my family back there ever again.

He performed an Apicoectomy on one of my teeth that another oral surgeon wanted to extract saying it could not be saved. That was nine (9) years ago. The tooth is still fine.

Hated my experience here so much! The place was cold, uninviting, sterile, masculine and NOT at all peaceful. The doctor had NO personality and was not warm or kind. I hated every minute of this and would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

Dr. was rude, condescending, refuses to listen and gets very defensive over the most basic questions. I'm sure he has some skill but the callousness and arrogance ruin it for him. On my last visit - last ever - I was unconscious but screaming the whole time (my family told me, they were very upset). Turned out he didn't wait for the anesthetic to take effect. Dr. Reubel and his staff are the best! I had an extraction today, and everyone was so kind and professional. I have a rare disease, systemic mastocytosis, that makes any medical procedure more difficult....I can go into anaphylaxis, and must pre-medicate, scrutinize any drugs to be used, etc. Dr. Reubel assured me the carbocaine 3% he would be using had no preservative, which was safe for me. Horrible experience, Dr Reubel was short tempered, talked at me not to me. told me to be still and relax as he verbally abused me by saying ( well you are going to feel something, what do you expect? ) you have long roots. then as he attempted to pull my teeth and I moved a little and firmly gripped armrest of chair, He stops and says (what now) He mangled my partial, let me leave without finishing with extracting the 3 teeth as planned. said to me as I was leaving you should have been sleep (put under) for this type of extraction.
