Dr. Herbst is a very caring compassionate doctor. He truly cares about your feelings and your healing. He has a great bedside manner and he’s not one to rush you out of the office. I would highly recommend Dr. Herbst for all your foot and ankle needs. 100%.

Having injured my middle metatarsal on my right foot I contacted CIO as a referral from my doctor. This facility adheres to the COVID-19 rules regulations. Meeting with Dr. Herbst after an x-ray was taken relieved my suspicions I’ve had for several weeks of a fractured or broken metatarsal. Dr. Herbst was very congenial, considerate, listened to what I had to say, he addressed the issues with common sense. I would refer anyone with bone or muscle problems in their body to see Dr. Herbst because of his thorough observation and honesty to me as a patient. He is a physician with integrity! I received a letter from "Central Indiana Orthopedics in Muncie, IN" on, October 6th, well after my appointment with Dr. Herpst stating: "It has become necessary that we discontinue providing YOU medical treatment due to inappropriate behavior. No further appointments will be scheduled for you". WHAT???? I was treated with malice disdain by a lady that I had gone to with paper work to make payment on the days services. Then this person STARED AT ME WITH HATRED IN HER EYES and told me I could leave now! I believe Central Indiana Orthopedics in Muncie, IN needs to take inventory of how their personnel are treating patients and fire this person that treated me with so much hatred. Patients pay her salary and this company doesn't need personnel that has an attitude like this person had toward me. Broke my ankle & ended up at CIO in the walk in clinic & Dr Herbst was able to get me in for surgery the next day! Dr Herbst & Sylvia who also works with Dr Herbst have been phenomenal & were quick to get me in & out while also being thorough & so very helpful in a very much unwanted situation. Dr Herbst and staff are very kind and capable in caring for patients. I had a total ankle replacement in February, 2014 and it has been such a life changer for me. I am able to walk with friends, shop and many other activities and not feel impaired as I had been before surgery. Follow up is also very good and consistent.

After receiving multiple doctor opinions in which the recommendations were an ankle fusion, it was recommended that I see Dr. Herbst. After meeting with him he was confident that an ankle replacement would correct my issues. I am now almost four months post surgery and have absolutely no arthritic pain! I’ve no doubt that I will be 100% back to my normal activities in the near future! I have recommended several people to Dr. Herbst. He gave me options a few years back for my arthritic foot that swayed to the. Left at almost 55 degrees. I was not ready for surgery and went to a prosthetic brace. I did not have pain but I was over wearing a brace. He did a foot fusion. Procedure went well. Highly recommend him. He is excellent at what he does. Caring and explains treatment options throughly.????

Dr. Herbst was able to see me right away. Surgery was scheduled and performed the next week. I couldn’t be happier with CIO, staff, and especially Dr Herbst and Dr Surtani.

Dr. Herbst did a total ankle replacement for me in May of 2019. Before surgery I was experiencing excruciating pain with every step I took. After surgery and 6 weeks of no weight bearing, walking with a boot for 2 more, I can now say I can walk pain free. I am so happy that our lives crossed paths. He is very personable and shows genuine concern and sympathy to his patients and strives to make you feel better. I highly recommend him as an orthopedic surgeon!

I have been seeing Dr Herbst for a few years. He is kind and compassionate. I never feel rushed when I am in his office. He is thoughtful in his explanations even though I know I ask the same question concerning surgery. I’m just putting it off as long as I can- however when that time comes I wouldn’t want to be in anyone else’s care.

Dr. herbst is working very hard to get me to feeling better with my foot since surgery.

Very nice Doctor and staff. Without them I wouldnt be walking today. Very honest and trustworthy too. Quick and to the point. No going around the problem at hand. Would recommend Dr. Herbst to anyone with foot problems!! Got me fixed up after several attempts with other doctors.

He had already reviewed my MRI and had a plan to repair it. He told me what I could expect and did exactly that. The surgery center couldn’t have been better. I received excellent care. Dr. Herbst is an outstanding doctor. He operated on my left foot years ago and it went wonderfully. I'm back because I had surgery on my foot in Florida and he messed up my foot badly. I am in good hands with Dr. Herbst.

I was very impressed with Dr.Herbst! Numerous people told me how good he is!

I have been a patient for over 15 years. I had a horrible break in my ankle 25 years ago and began seeing Dr Herbst when I move to this area. In 2015, I received a Zimmer total ankle replacement which he helped to design. Although I will never be pain free, my quality of life is better than I ever dreamed it could be. The care I've received from Dr Herbst and his team has been the greatest care possible.

Dr. Herbst repaired my broken ankle and continues care by treating the resulting arthritis. He and his staff are always kind,helpful and professional. My visit yesterday was completed in ten minutes and covered everything.

I was getting my first cortisone injection in my foot. I have had some bad experiences with injections in my back so I was very apprehensive. Dr. Herbst was amazing and kind. He explained everything he was doing. It was a very good experience. I live in Richmond Indiana and it is definitely worth the hour drive!

My youngest son (1 year old) got his finger shut in a door by his siblings. The medics in the ambulance were sure that the tip would be done. Dr Herbst never even seemed to consider that as a possibility. He had great bedside manner and attitude. He presented us with a few options and sewed his finger tip back on (was still partially connected). It is healing great. We have already followed up twice in two weeks and the stitches are already out. This was a harrowing ordeal to go through but Dr Herbst made it much better and easier to deal with. While he might be a little difficult to schedule an appointment with due to his popularity- it is certainly worth the wait. He was absolutely excellent. He explained my situation and offered options that I might consider. I would be sure and work with him in the future if needed. I would strongly recommend him.

He was awful. Rude to me, my wife and rude when discussing my other docs. Just because he's a surgeon doesn't mean he doesn't have to have any social skills. His attitude and his avoidance of answering my questions made me suspicious then when I got a copy of my visit note it was a bunch of lies. I don't want anyone without good morals operating on me.

Has worked on me a couple times and did a GREAT job. Am planning to have him replace my ankle and he is the ONLY Doc. I would let do it. He is the BEST
