Dr. Steven Frank Ellis

Was very pleasantly surprised with my experience with Dr. Ellis. First time I had ever been to a doctor besides a normal checkup and everything I had been hearing about medicine these past few years had me expecting a cold uncaring slog where they get you in and out ASAP. Dr. Ellis made sure to look me in the eyes when talking to me, used different metaphors to make sure I understood what he was trying to explain, and seemed very sincere. The staff at the desk was also very polite, it was a good experience all around for me. The only problem I have with this office is whatever system they used for their phone-lines is god awful. I tried calling 3 different times for something and each time someone answered and transferred me to who I needed to talk to, I got disconnected after about 15 seconds. I just ended up stopping by in person real quick and had my questions answered by Dr. Ellis in no more than 10 minutes.

Dr. Ellis did a fantastic job on my toddler's adenoidectomy, tonsilectomy and tubes in ears surgeries. He answered our questions, spoke to my daughter with kindness and even called us personally to follow up after surgery.

Terrific. He’s the example of a good compassionate knowledgeable physician. Wouldn’t trade him. My husband, a physician, trusts him as well

I’ve relied on Dr. Ellis for more than 22 years for myself and family. When I was experiencing serious health issues the only person I trusted was Dr. Ellis. Through his efforts, he kindly and gently diagnosed me with a chronic health condition but not without conducting a series of required tests and referrals. Although not easy to hear, he was gentle, patient and thoughtful as I struggled to accept my life had changed forever. He is the best Doctor I’ve ever encountered which is why I started with him versus my Family MD.

Excellent clinician with great bedside manner! Very direct and straightforward… tells it like it is! I appreciate this because it saves time. He’s also great with analogies to help you understand what’s going on.

Dr. Ellis is kind, knowledgeable, and funny! He walked me through our procedure with great detail and answered all my questions with helpful examples. My primary doc said he’s the ENT everyone in her office chooses and I can see why. Definitely recommend!

I saw Dr. Ellis for an odd feeling in my throat. He thoroughly explained my status which was nothing major and was back home in less than 30 minutes.

Dr. Ellis is such a gift of a doctor and his staff is also professional and knowledgeable. He was all ears when I needed to talk about my symptoms and my sinus surgery with him went so smoothly. I was back up and running in a day or so with little to no pain. I highly recommend his practice. Thank you, Dr. Ellis!

Thorough (more questions asked and answered than the GI and a previous ENT) and informative! All staff friendly and helpful.

Treated for Reflux (Gerd) voice therapy and vertigo.

Took over a week to respond to severe reaction to meds and suggested kissing and more intimate encounters with my husband could aid in curing fungal infection of the throat. Told a story about how funny it was his brother offered his mother “a sample”. After severe reaction to prescribed flucozanole (antifungal) - and in consultation with nurse who took my call... prescribed an antacid and recommended quit taking Pepcid (another antacid I was not taking by had in the past from another MD). Either my chart was misread or Dr was distracted in addressing my case.

I’m from out of state but I needed surgery to remove a lipoma on my neck.I was going to be in KC for a few weeks, so I attempted to find a doctor there. I was able to make an appointment for a Tuesday and then have the surgery on Thursday. Dr. Ellis was so professional, kind, and patient. Appointments were thorough but quick and I never had to wait long to see the doctor. Surgery went well and I was really pleased with the way he chose to make the incision. It takes forever in CA to get an appointment with any doctor and then forever again for surgery to be scheduled. Best doctor that I have ever had. Had to have my larynx removed due to cancer. 5 years later and still cancer free. Thank you Dr Ellis!

Dr Ellis has seen all 3 of my boys, husband & myself. He is great with my boys. He is truly the best!

The very best. He was the only doctor to properly diagnose a severe sinus infection that led to life altering trigeminal neuralgia. His diagnosis, treatment plan and surgery will restore my life quality again.

Dr. Ellis was thorough, caring, and really seemed to care about my daughter's health. He made the sometimes painful after-surgery visits as tolerable as possible for her. Dr. Ellis is very competent, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We were seen by the Doctor at our appointment time. The staff is also very nice and efficient.

Staff was friendly although I waited well past my appointment time and getting into this clinic to see your doctor is ridiculous. I waited over a month since my initial visit to have another appointment scheduled for my consultation. So nothing has been done yet to help me and I feel horrible. I've been on several different antibiotics to no avail and I've had a CT scan - which shows a deviated septum and a sinus infection I've had for over 7 months, but they could care less. I have to wait in line with everyone else. When do they deem their patients as critical? What does it take? When my son needed his adenoids removed and turbinate surgery that office got him in the following week not months later. Holy smoke. Seriously, one of the most impressive specialty offices I've ever been to. Dr. Ellis answered all my questions that I'd been asked over the years regarding one of my conditions and a few others. When the lights went out (it appeared to be neighborhood wide) he didn't hesitate. He whipped out his headlight, got someone else to hold something and took a culture. Just wow. I'm not sure what the other reviewers were talking about with the front desk being rude, but at the Overland Park, they were friendly! I mean not like over the top, but still kind. Dr. Ellis was on time and I appreciated but not having to wait long. I had to bring my baby with me and Dr. Ellis was comfortable conducting the appointment while I had to nurse my baby. I had been suffering from tonsil stones for many years and he genuinely listened when I explained the severe negative impact this condition was having on my life. Instead of suggesting just another temporary solution, he wanted to move forward with a tonsillectomy so I could have total relief from this problem. I now see why Dr. Ellis was recommended by my general practitioner. I'm almost two weeks out from my surgery and he's personally called to as see I'm doing. Dr. Ellis is amazing! He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain things to you so you understand. He also takes the time to listen to you about your concerns, hes a very caring and compassionate Dr.. He is great with kids too! All of my children go to him as well and they all love Dr. Ellis! This is by far the best Dr I’ve had involved in my life! He has saved me 3 times now, with 3 very unusual surgeries for my thyroid, a parathyroid tumor, and a nasopharyngeal mass. ❤️

I have had a chronic sinus infection for 3 months due to a bad AC vent left at the bottom of the AC unit at work that is on top of the roof. I had surgery on Wednesday. I could tell when I got out of the recovery room the pressure was gone and so was the double vision I had. Thank you bringing me back to normal. Best ENT in town. Dr Ellis also had to correct the mistake the old ENT made.. By far the best, most knowledgeable Dr I’ve had in my life. He has diagnosed and preformed a thyroidectomy, a parathyroid tumor surgery and recently a nasopharyngeal mass surgery

Dr. Ellis impressed me because he sat down next to me, made eye contact, and really listened to me. He was honest and explained things well.

Dr Stephen Ellis changed my life because he found a deformation in my sinus that made my life unbearable since I was a teenager. I'd seen so many doctors over a 15 year period and was written off a lot. I'm so lucky I saw him and got that problem corrected with surgery. I've continued to go to this office for follow up because he is such a good doctor. The older lady in reception can be rude but that wouldn't make me want to go somewhere else because the care I received is invaluable. Doctors are ok. Front staff and anyone answering the phone will treat you rudely. Very apparent by the staffs attitude that this is a privately owned office that can get away with anything
