Dr. Stephen Alexander Irwin

I saw Dr Irwin for years as my health rapidly declined. I tried numerous times to explain to him that my stomach condition (Gastroparesis) & my pancreatic enzyme insufficiency (EPI) causes constant daily vomiting. I got down to 88lbs, needed a feeding tube, & had tried EVERY nausea medication out there. My other doctors wanted me to try medical marijuana & he told me no. He would see me for MAYBE 3 minutes every other month, yet had the audacity to tell me I couldn’t use medical marijuana AND be on pain medication which he cut back drastically for no reason. I decided to find a doctor that actually listened to me & did what was best for my quality of life. I don’t recommend Dr. Irwin if you want a doctor that does what’s best for you. Dr Irwin has helped my husband and myself with us being able to handle our pain and function on a daily basis. We appreciate the office people, they take care of things quickly and are very helpful. We recommend this office and Dr Irwin to anyone who needs to have help with pain management.

He offered me the same procedure that Mercy did but for 1/10 th the price! It even worked better than theirs did! He’s the best at Radiofrequency and Epidurals!

I have no issue with Dr. Irwin. His staff is the problem. After 2 series of injections, he called me to discuss further options & told me one of the ladies would call me to set up the next appointment & he’d see me the following week. That was on 10/27/2021. Today is 12/28/2021. Never received a call. There’s a lack of communication there. Wish it were better because he’s a good doctor. I have no issue with Dr. Irwin. This place is the absolute worst. If there was an option to give them zero stars, it would still be too many. Dr. Irwin barely said two words to me upon my initial visit, sent me to get an MRI, then had a one of the front desk people call me to schedule an appointment to get shots in my spine without explaining a thing to me. "ummm...is that my only option...?" Then when I came in for the following appointment and the "doctor" still hadn't spoken to me, I asked the lady who checked me into my room what was going on, options, path to recovery, to speak with Dr. Irwin, and then I could hear her speaking to him in the hall after she left and they both sounded like it was silly of me to want to know what was going on. Oh, and not to mention billing. Their billing is a nightmare. I got a bill. And then another bill. And then another bill. Called several times, was cleared and told I was fine and everything was paid up. Then received another bill. Called again, was told not to worry about it again. All of this happened in March, here we are in October - guess what I just received? Another bill. Seriously - save your time. Save your money. Go to someone who will actually work with you and get you back on the road to recovery versus someone who is just sticking a needle in you and taking your money. This place is the absolute worst. Got call saying they could make appointment for steroid injection help with sciatica but would not prescribe meds, i was searching for relief get off pain meds, i kindly stated to a very rude secretary i ask for steroid injection not for medication and she hung up ????

Doctor Irwin dropped me as a patient because he/his office won’t fax a prescription the VA Pharmacy.

Dr Irwin knows what he is doing. He explains why you have the pain and works on a plan that should get some relief. He does not quit on you either

I had my 1st visit on September 14th and unlike my other pain Doctor Dr Irwin listened to what is wrong and Finally ordered an MRI on my neck instead of giving me pain pills and unnecessary epidural and nerve burning procedures..I feel like he really wants to help me instead of just making me worse..

Dr. Irwin cares to do what he can to relieve his patients pain and keep it that way. Isn't that what you should want? Having Multiple Sclerosis and arthritis for 35 years, I DO!

Just had a injection in my back and was amazing the pain is at a 3 where at times I couldn’t walk and my pain was at a 9 but now I am able to walk without a limp I have been to several pain specialists all over the state I finally found one who knows what he is doing PRAISE GOD. Excellent patient care at this facility, the staff is always trying to accommodate you. I recently had a heart attack and I’ve been very sick, Dr. Irwin took the time to do a telehealth visit with me rather than making me struggle to get into his office. I’ve been with his doctor and the staff for several years now and I could not recommend anyone higher in Northwest Arkansas for dealing with chronic pain issues. Dr Irwin actually listens to his patients and tries to find a solution to help you. Unlike many other pain docs who try to pigeon hole you into a specific category or solution, he tailors the solution to you and your specific situation. I have always been impressed with Doctor Irwin's caring attitude and willingness to dig into the problem. This was my very first visit. I have never been to a pain management doctor before. Dr. Irvin really listened to me and all my thoughts re: sources and possible reasons for my pain. He was very nice and considerate. I have done numerous CT scans, MRI’s, X-rays this year and no help from all the other doctors (even tho, I inquired about injections and not using medication to ease my pain) to which, they just blew me off. I have been a patient of Dr Irwin's at NWA pain for a year or two, I have a rare condition of the spine called a tethered spinal cord. Its attached near the L4/L5 vertebrae by a sizable tumor called a lipoma inside my spinal canal that required surgery years ago (in 2010). However the surgery was not successful at all and the scarring was and is so extensive it has left and caused more permanent damage requiring only two options simultaneously learn to live with extreme chronic pain and have another surgery by one of only two qualified doctors on the USA. Dr Irwin has taken on the challenge of trying to care for chronic pain best he is able while being so kind and supportive while we look for doctors around the country for a more permanent solution if one is possible. He is a good doctor always with a warm heart and a smile, I'd recommend him to anyone with any problem like this! He has been a blessing. Dr. Irwin is very kind and competent doctor. Never once has he made me feel that my pain wasn't real or as severe as I reported. His office got me in quickly and I was able to enter into pain management quickly as well. After 11 months of living with pain I was referred to Dr Irwin. I couldn’t believe how quickly they organized my initial consultation and MRI. He is very professional and personable and really listened. His staff are very welcoming and make you feel really comfortable. A huge thank you to Dr Irwin and his team!!

Dr Irwin is one of several different types of drs that have tried to help me with my chronic pain. I had about given up on ever getting any relief from pain. He’s worked with me in different ways until we found a way to alleviate my pain. It’s been at least 10 years of unbearable pain. He really knows how to help those with chronic pain.

His office staff could careless about their patients both in person and over the phone. He wrote a script for me to fill and did not even bother to tell me that my pharmacy would not fill any prescriptions at all for him. I when I called the office to inquire as to why I was told go to another pharmacy (that my insurance would not cover) or find another doctor to write the prescription. The office staff told me it was my fault and there was nothing they could do. Tried the “other” pharmacy and was told it would cost $335 to fill. I researched the script’s (that I was handed that day) interaction with the current meds that I already have to take (that he is fully aware of) and come to find out it has a red flag warning with “can cause respiratory distress, coma and death”. I will not use or recommend this “Dr”, the clinic that he is the sole physician at or any of its staff. I strongly recommend staying away from these people.
