I was having some shoulder pain and went to see Dr. Chen. He had great online reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. I never felt rushed and left knowing what the problem was. We had a clear treatment plan. I’m feeling better already and wouldn’t hesitate recommending him to friends and family for sports medicine injuries.

If you're worried about needles or surgery, don't be! Dr. Chen specializes in a non-surgical approach to healing! That meant no needles surgery for me!

Our son is a high school football athlete in Walnut Creek and Dr. Chen has really helped him. Our son hurt his ankle during practice and Dr. Chen was able to meet with us and give us the info we needed to make the best decision for our son's progress. It took a couple months rehab but now our son is back running and playing. Great results!

Eveer since I turned 40 my back has been giving me tons of problems. I've been to acupuncture, chiropractors, I even tried reiki. Happy I found Dr Chen cause he works with you one on one, is a doctor and is very relatable. He doesn't push unnecessary visits or treatments and always listens. That's probably why I like him the most out of any doctor I've visited. Plus big bonus - my back pain is almost gone.

After months of procrastinating about my shoulder pain I finally went in to see Dr. Chen. He helped a ton, all without surgery. I love that he's local in Walnut Creek, so that's a big bonus for me!

Trying to not put on the dreaded "Covid" pounds I dusted off my road bike and started riding for the first time in a few years(I'm not going to admit how many) I have been an athlete my entire life but I did cross into my 60's a few years ago and seem to still believe I can perform like I'm 22. Well, I crashed and burned and in the process injured my shoulder. Because I've always been a good healer I waited for my shoulder to get better..a month and a half later I reached out to Dr. Stephen Chen on a referral from a friend. I am ever so glad I did! Dr. Chen created a program of recovery and strengthening. He explained the time it may take to heal because of the injury and walked me through from Xrays to MRI's to Physical Therapy how we were going to get my shoulder functioning normally. Dr. Chen listens patiently is incredibly knowledgeable and most importantly achieves results. I am so close to having full mobility of my shoulder! Dr. Chen was very personable and knowledgeable. When my knee was having issues with bursitis and he made the experience easy and comfortable. I will continue to go to him with any of my sports medicine needs in the future.

My son started a new sport in High School and was having some pain issues. We decided to take him to Dr. Chen for a pediatric Sports & Medicine consultation because of the fact that Dr. Chen is super-specialized in this field, but also the fact could fit us in so quickly. Their office was easy to get to from Oakland since it's just off the Highway 24 and the whole process was smooth and very informative. It's very helpful that they have PTs that work closely with the medical part of this practice so that the MDs and PTs can communicate seamlessly. I highly recommend Dr. Chen for any sports related injuries. As a along time runner I have seen Dr. Chen several times and trust him completely. He is thorough, knowledgeable , personable, and understands the athlete mind set. His course of treatment for my recent patella tendinitis has been spot on, and I have completely recovered in a short time. This is an excellent orthopedic practice from top down. Dr. Chen is knowledgeable and thorough in his diagnosis. The associated Physical Therapy group is also excellent. I have used the PT group on three separate occasions with good success. I am able to continue to garden and golf on a regular basis and at my age, thankful that I did not have to have a big surgery. What you will most enjoy about this group is that everyone is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and PERSONAL, a quality sorely lacking everywhere I go. As an avid athlete he was able to help me with my shoulder pain as well as set me up with Physical Therapy. He was also able to help out my little cousin as youth sports are starting back up again. I had an excruciating elbow injury that sidelined me from tennis. A friend suggested I make an appointment to see Dr. Chen, and am I so glad I did. He checked my elbow and arm, sat down and explained the probable causes and treatments available. I really didn't want to get surgery, so I was so happy when he said I didn't need to! Just a month or so of PT and now I'm back on the courts. Highly recommend this Sports Doctor!

Dr. Chen is amazing! His breadth of knowledge and skill in dealing with the pain in my shoulder has been invaluable. Highly recommend him! Once you site down with him you'll know right from the start that he is passionate about helping patients recover through non-surgical procedures.

I learned that prior to specializing he focused on pediatric medicine, so if you have a teen athlete in your family like we do, knowing if and when an injury occurs we have an amazing resource we can depend on in Walnut Creek. Dr. Chen is able to treat multiple conditions including sprains and strains of the shoulder, elbow, wrists, hands, backs, knees, and ankles.
