My case of Scleroderma is very unique. This is my experience. As a true reviewer, it would be an injustice for me to not share my experience. HUGE NIGHTMARE! In my opinion, I’m guessing my condition didn’t seem severe to him because I don’t have the absolute worst scenario of scleroderma. He tells me I do have scleroderma, yet telling me I don’t have it. It’s clear that I have physical limitations and morphea, yet he still didn’t want to treat my conditions. Multiple occasions he continued to be disrespectful and ignorant to my test results. Eventually, I left the office in tears and filed a report at UT physicians website. At that time there weren’t many doctors who accepted my insurance, I was stuck. Worst experience of my life. Now my conditions have worsen so much during and after all of that nonsense. Other employees witnessed this incident that left me leaving the office in tears due this doctor’s ignorance & disrespect. There is absolutely nothing good I can say here. I’ve been nothing but respectful and cooperative. Thankfully there are actual doctors out there who actually do care about people regardless of there ethnic/cultural/linguistic background. [UPDATE: He contacted my family with a disrespectful demeanor because I shared my experience here. Weird thing, that phone number was never submitted in their system. Dr. Assassi is one of the top physicians in the USA for treating scleroderma. He is familiar with the latest research, and he conducts his own research projects funded by NIH research grants. He takes time to get to know his patients. Scleroderma (systemic sclerosis) is a complex autoimmune disease with a wide range of symptoms, and he is very thorough in diagnosing and treating it. Dr. Assassi is a very nice, personable, and extremely knowledgeable physician. I brought in my outside medical record that was 477 pages! I had not sorted through the record to pull out the relevant info. Dr. Assassi scanned and printed all pages and began reviewing them to get to know me better before our consultation. He then discussed with me, in detail, about my probably diagnosis. I do not have the condition he specializes in, and I'm thankful for that, so I have only one follow up visit remaining. I have been seeing Dr. Assassi for about 5 years for my scleroderma. He is very thorough and extremely knowledgeable about scleroderma. I have had diagnosed mild scleroderma for about 10 years and went to Dr. Assassi for a confirmation. He confirmed that I do have scleroderma and has been diligent about making sure that I have the appropriate testing done for the past 5 years. I have just started experiencing some issues and have felt confident that Dr. Assassi will be able to treat me in the best possible way.

Dr. Assassi is one of the top researchers in scleroderma (systemic sclerosis). He is also an excellent practitioner for treating this complex auto-immune disease. He is easy to talk to and he takes time to explain the situation. He has treated me for five years, and I am doing very well under his care.

Dr. Assassi specializes in patients who have Scleroderma and other autoimmune diseases. I have been a patient of his for almost a year now. He is very direct about what you need or don't need in terms of treatments and medication. I used to be on a lot of medication before having him as a doctor. We went over my medication list and he ended up removing a lot of medication because it wasn't what I needed. He is the kind of doctor who help puts you on the best treatment plan and is with you every step of the way. He is very easy to contact and get a hold of for any questions you may have. He also makes sure to check in on you if he put you on a new treatment or medication. Having Scleroderma is very hard but after being put on the right medication & treatments I've never felt more better. All of the nurses there are so nice and helpful if you ask them for help.

I was looking for a doctor that was specifically specialized in Scleroderma as I needed to confirm that I had the condition so I could start managing the symptoms. Dr. Assassi not only confirmed that I had Scleroderma with blood tests and a nail-fold capillaroscopy, but he also answered all of my concerns and gave me peace of mind. He performs regular check-ups to see how I'm doing and if I need any specific treatment (every 3 to 6 months with blood tests, pulmonary function tests, echocardiograms, etc) and guides me through every step of the evolution of the condition. I've been with Dr. Assassi for two years and I am feeling great thanks to him. Dr. Assassi really is an expert in Scleroderma, he has over 15 years of experience treating and researching about this condition, he is currently performing the largest Scleroderma research in the US. If you have Scleroderma and are looking for real help I would advise you to see Dr. Shervin Assassi. He is the best.

Dr. Assassi is an excellent rheumatologist who was able to make the right diagnosis and treat my condition with a steroid injection.

I’ve been a patient since 2017. Dr Assassi is an outstanding specialist who is very professional, attentive and supportive. He literally saved my life. I was bed ridden/wheelchair bound and in debilitating chronic pain in all my joints. After 20 months of treatment for Adult Stiles and physical therapy I have regained the 55 lbs I lost (weight was down to 114) and I am able to walk and work with my hands again. In July 2019 I was able to climb Mt Fuji!

I have been a patient of Dr. Assassi for seven years. He is the best doctor I have ever had. I have complete trust in him. I'm so thankful to have found him.

Dr.Assassin is fine but his receptionist sucks. Did get pass her to see on my second visit.

Very professional and kind. Takes time to listen to and discuss concerns.
