Dr. Shazia Amar

I had a horrible experience with this podiatrist, and I’m never returning. During my first visit for foot pain, she applied an ace bandage, which made my pain worse. I returned the following week, and she told me I shouldn’t use the ace bandage anymore because it was putting pressure where I had the pain. She suggested an MRI, but I no longer trusted her opinion because of the flip flopping. My pain ended up going away with ibuprofen, rest, and not wearing shoes or a bandage for a week. Then I got my insurance bills. The first bill made sense as a new doctor visit. The second bill for my follow up was more expensive and had a diagnostic code for “Remove diseased toenail bed” when all she did was look at my foot. I will be disputing that second bill, and I highly recommend avoiding this doctor.

I saw Dr. Amar awhile ago and gave a stellar review then. Today, Dr. Amar totally amazed me and I would give 10 stars if possible. There was some miscommunication between the receptionist and doctor. The receptionist gave me a 5pm visit. I arrived a minute or two after 5pm and was told Dr. Amar left for the day. I called reception to see what happened and Dr. Amar called me right away. She then came back to the office for our visit. As last time Dr. Amar was professional, caring and helpful. I saw Dr. Amar awhile ago and gave a stellar review then. While Dr. Amar was very kind, I need to have revision surgery dealing with the mess of the foot surgery she performed. So I would proceed with caution on any surgical procedures.

She was kind, informative and efficient. She answered all my daughter's questions and was pleasant then entire time. The wait time was nonnonexist. Update: I had an issue where she she kept telling my daughter to use a cream for a wart and she "scraped" it with a razor then charged $200 for surgery. after 8 weeks and 3 visits I purchased the freezing spray and the wart was gone in 2 days. I had a piece of glass in my foot for 8 months. I found the correct doctor for the job. Dr. Shazia Amar removed 2 pieces of glass in less than 5 minutes. Im now pain free and my foot feels amazing. I had scheduled an appointment with Dr. Amar today. When I arrived on time the small waiting room was crowded with at least 5 people waiting. Yes, they were wearing masks, but I was asked to wait outside. I felt unsafe to stay inside anyway and stepped out into the heat and humidity to fill our some form. During this time some people left the office, but a lot of people also entered the office anew. When I returned to the office there were still about 5 people waiting in a small enclosed space. I did not notice the office taking any precautions to adjust their operation to the situation of a world wide pandemic. They did NOT space out patients, they did NOT take my temperature, NOTHING. Amazing Dr.

Ingrown toenails suck! When I sought a podiatrist to help me, I found Dr. Amar. She has a great personality and had a magic touch when it came to removing my ingrown toenails.

Dr. Amar really knows what she's doing! When I broke my foot, I didn't really know how to care for it, so Dr. Amar gave me a cast + tons of instructions on how to use crutches. It healed back perfectly!

Dr. Amar is a wonderful caring person/doctor did a procedure on my foot she makes you feel comfortable shows compassion and easy to talk with she takes time listens so glad she is my podiatrist. Thank you continue the good work with Gods continue blessings all the way

Dr. Amar demonstrated the greatest amount of compassion for my medical issues. She was so understanding and tried various interventions before coming to the decision of surgery. My post-op journey is moving along very well and I am extremely happy with the service that I am currently receiving.

Dr. Amar is simply amazing! Her staff and the way she cares for her patients are outstanding! She helped me recover from my injuries to my foot and even made sure to follow up to see if all is well! The staff at the office is extremely helpful and friendly ! I Highly recommend!

Dr. Shazia Amar is one of the best health care providers I have ever had. Shazia Amar not only is highly professional + skilled in her profession, but she is also emotionally intelligent and makes all of her patients feel incredible. Staff was professional and informative. Dr. Amar was great. I had surgery and the surgery was a breeze. Recovery went as expected.

Not Covid safe! When I arrived at the office for my appointment (five minutes before my confirmed time, in the midst of the Covid pandemic) I was shocked to see four people waiting in the tiny underground waiting room, with the receptionist making a fifth. I was asked to sign in and told the other people were waiting for the doctor. My temperature was not checked, and I was not asked to sanitize my hands - in fact it was if everything was pre-pandemic. I was extremely uncomfortable waiting in such a small, confined space. I don't mind waiting in normal times, but with no safely precautions place, I left.

I met with Dr Amar for a consultation she was extremely pleasant and comforting. She answered my questions and gave various options to my situation. I haven't had any procedures done as of yet so I'm not able to comment further at this time.

Over and hour late and still waiting in the waiting room (which is packed) and 3 long centipedes crawling by on the floor. Terrible reality TV on. So far a very unpleasant experience and I have not even seen the doctor yet.

I had an scheduled appointment with Dr. Amar. When I came in for the visit to the Artisan Podiatry Clinic I met shouted doors only. They were closed during their working hours. Nobody even try to contact me. Very unprofessional.

I made an appointment a month ago for seeing Dr. Amar at 7400 - 18th Avenue location after being referred to her by a customer and I saw her good reviews. After receiving an email confirmation plus a txt message confirming my appointment, I was not on the schedule. That was one thing. On the other, the front desk nice lady asked for my i.d. and insurance card. She saw I had Fideliscare Gold and said she does not accept this. She does if it's medicaid and or medicare but not metal levels. I said Oh! She asked if whoever made the appointment asked me about what insurance I had and I said yes of course. She went to the back and asked supposedly Dr. Amar's assistant at that office (this doctor has 3 locations) and without this person coming out to talk to me, she said the doctor would have no clue about insurance issues...Not good and I said to myself, run! Very bad organization at this office or I guess any of her offices. Extremely unprofessional office and the way their systems run meaning you receive emails, txt message and then you are not on the schedule! While I respect you as a "doctor", you have lost me as a "patient" And, here are the reasons why! l. Your air conditioning wasn't even working on a hot day. 2. The "girls" that worked there totally unprofessional and not very bright! When I asked them how long I would have to wait...NO ANSWER...AND AT LEAST 8 PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME. 3. I was struggling with recovery after Achilles surgery. Dr. Amar greeted me personally in the waiting room and took my issues to heart. She was the first to make sense of what I was experiencing, assuring me that she will help me get well. I believe her and have found a treasure!

All three times I have seen this doctor, there have been 8 or 9 people in the waiting room with the same appointment time as mine. The last two times she arrived 2 hours late, citing surgery as the cause of her delay. (No notice, no update offered by her staff, just wait and wait.) She is very sweet and, despite the failure of two cortisone shots to relieve my pain, she may well be a good doctor, but the administration of the office is appalling. I arrived at one confirmed ZocDoc appointment on time only to learn the doctor didn't have office hours that day in that location. (Indeed, her profile lists 10 different locations.) She ordered an MRI but her staff said I'd have to schedule another office visit to get the results. I have now switched podiatrists. I had an awesome experience with Dr Amar she is a very professional and friendly doctor, she took time to diagnose and treat my problem, I’m very happy with her services and demeanor I will definitely be visiting her again. I've seen Dr. Amar a few times for my foot pains. I visited her at her Flatbush location- not recommended if you can help it. I definitely prefer the Prospect Park W one. It isn't a fancy place; it's an unassuming business a few steps below street level. The office needs some updating. The waiting area isn't as well-kept as a Dr's office should be, and doesn't match Dr. Amar's disposition. I mean, she is one cheerful lady. She makes you feel like you're her new best friend. Some people are just that naturally talented. She transitions to the actual examination and diagnosis with ease. However, she doesn't get the highest marks because it all felt a bit rushed. Once she decided what I was experiencing, it was a mad dash to be rid of me. I am one of those patients that likes to remain well-informed. This includes knowing the cause, the treatment, and prevention of future troubles. Though she did answer all my inquiries succinctly, I could tell she was always two seconds from opening the exam room door. There are always people waiting to see her, and since my issue was on the very minor side of the spectrum, she was on the move within 3-5 minutes of seeing me. I can understand this business practice, but it still left me feeling politely jilted. I've seen Dr. Amar a few times for my foot pains.
