About Scott P Sanderson
Reviews for Scott P Sanderson
Dr.Sanderson is one of the best, if not the best doctor I have ever seen. I had seen 2 doctors before him trying to find out what was going on with me and why I was experiencing pain. He was the only doctor to take the time to listen to me. He also takes the time to explain your mri results and diagnosis with great care.
I have been using Dr. Sanderson for about 10 years. He is always thoughtful, focused and thorough. His conservative measures usually work before surgery and he is very prompt with communication I would recommend 10 times out of 10.
I had been to an orthopedic surgeon (got an MRI) and a neurologist (had an EMG), but Dr. Sanderson was able to pinpoint why I have weakness and pain in my arm, and where it emanates from. He was extremely thorough in his testing and incredibly patient with me as I asked him a ton of questions. First, we tried PT which didn't work, I then got a CAT scan (to determine if & what type of operation I should consider) and then tried an epidural which has helped a little. If I decide to get surgery, I will definitely use him.
Dr. Sanderson provided comprehensive examples of why I was possibly experiencing pain. He provided clear analogies to help me understand as well. After evaluating my situation he was quick with making a decision that would best service my health. He was professional and still provided empathy. He is there with you in the moment and responsive when you communicate through the portal!
Excellent experience. Excellent cervical fusion. Will be going back for future needs. Personable, professional, with an outstanding support staff.
Dr. Sanderson performed my back surgery 1-26-22 at Danbury hospital. The ease of him preparing me for surgery, his explanation what the surgery would entail ,his preciseness and professional bedside manner are impeccable. Dr. s had the surgical nurse call my husband when he made the first incision into me, (Can you imagine that, he went above and beyond) I had my surgery then I was transferred to my hospital room Dr. Sanderson came to my room later that night to check on me. Who does this ? This Doctor did. Today I am able to be more active longer, and stronger everyday, pain level is ZERO. Dr.'s office staff are welcoming, professional and prompt as Dr. Sanderson is. Thank you Dr. Sanderson .
I am very pleased with the recent diagnostic evaluation, lumbar spine surgical intervention and follow-up care I received from neurosurgeon Dr Scott Sanderson MD, Danbury CT. He also explained things well in all these facets of his care. Also, his office staff and clinical team were excellent. My overall experience with his care certainly reenforces the superb reputation he enjoys in this region and I have no reservations about recommending him to any patient for neurosurgical evaluation and intervention if needed.
Dr Sanderson helped solve my neurological claudication. I can walk again!!
Dr. Sanderson was great. I would highly recommend him as a surgeon. He was very responsive to my questions and his surgery has significantly reduce the pain I had in my leg.
Would 100% recommend to anyone with nerve issues. Very polite and timely. C7 Discectomy with artificial disc replacement, could not have gone better! Great experience in hospital with minimal recovery time.
Dr Sanderson is my HERO. I came into his office barely able to walk 2 blocks due to my neuropathic claudication. After his very successful surgical management , I am now pain free!! Just finished a 10 mile hike. WOW.
Dr. Sanderson is an amazing neurosurgeon. In addition to his wonderful, caring bedside manner, he and his team are outstanding providers, and were able to treat me as a person, with a sense of urgency in my care as well. From the day I first met with him, Dr. Sanderson took the time needed to go over my questions, concerns and his plan of treatment. I can truly say that he is an outstanding physician who is obviously well respected by his patients, peers and all who know him. I feel so lucky to be under the car of Dr. Sanderson. He even took the time to connect with my other physicians to make sure we are all on the same page. I highly recommend Dr. Sanderson. He is a gem and I am lucky to be in his care.
I felt comfortable and reassured as soon as I met with Dr. Sanderson. The surgery went well and I feel great. I am so thankful to Dr. Sanderson and his wonderful staff.
Round two with Dr. Sanderson. Obviously I wouldn't go back if I hadn't received exemplary care 2 years ago. He's the best there is, always takes a conservative approach with the patient's needs first and foremost.
I tired calling the both norwalk and Danbury office number to make the appointment and they disconnected call 3 times. Bad customer service
The Front Desk women was awful, her attitude over the phone was extremely rude and wasn’t helpful at all. She was nasty and had no manners, when I asked for her name she mumbled something under her breath, I will never go back to this doctor office again because of the way she disrespected me, you can really tell a doctor by his staff, so thanks but no thanks. They don’t even deserve the 1 star that I had to give them. The Front Desk women was awful, her attitude over the phone was extremely rude and wasn’t helpful at all. He is the best! The staff are very kind and Professional. Always a good experience
The minute we met I knew the surgeon who was going to perform my surgery was right in front of me. Furthermore, my GP asked who I had in mind and when I said Dr. Sanderson, he simply said “ you are in good hands”. Well he was right. It’s been a month and I am pain free. The surgery was an L5 S1 correction. Dr. Sanderson team is very professional and I am glad to say I am a very satisfied patient with the end result.
Dr Sanderson is highly caring and always treats my with the upmost respect. I would highly recommend him to anyone and he will be the one to continue with all my neurosurgical needs.
I felt very comfortable meeting and talking to Dr Sanderson for the first time about my spinal stenosis. He is a great listener and explained everything i needed to know. I would trust him to operate on my spine and future care. His PA is also caring and very knowledgeable.
I have much to be thankful for since Dr. Sanderson performed a back surgery which went very, very well. He's caring and kind and saw to all my needs. His team/staff are fantastic.
My first visit with Dr. Sanderson was amazing, like none I have ever had before! He came in the room after some preliminary checks, sat down next to me and said, “Tell me your story.” I said what? And he repeated, “Tell me your story, when did this began, where is the pain, when does it occur and how often do you feel it and did the Spinal Injection help?” Dr. Sanderson spent ample time with me and assured me that I was an excellent candidate for the operation on my spine. I was sent for a new MRI which revealed exactly where the problem was. On a follow up visit he said, “I would like to perform the L-3-4 laminectomy decompression of spinal stenosis that we discussed on our original visit.” It is hard to express in words my thanks to Dr. Sanderson for making my recovery nothing short of a miracle. All that I was told about Dr. Sanderson was true and then some! I am thankful I chose him for this most difficult and extraordinarily successful operation.
Dr. Sanderson is one of those rare surgeons who is as good with his words as he is with his hands. He listened intently and addressed all my concerns treating me as a person, not (just) as a patient. The clinical and administrative team he works with are all outstanding too; it’s really that simple. They run a smooth process from start to finish. Informed, communicative, compassionate care that was one step ahead anticipating my needs and meeting them as they moved me along educating me, helping guide my decision making, scheduling, responding and following up. If you are reading reviews then you are likely looking for confirmation. I’m a nurse and asked around rather than reading what can sometimes be posted selectively online. What I learned from colleagues throughout local delivery systems mirrored my own experience. Dr. Sanderson and the team at Elite Brain & Spine of Connecticut consistently outperforms and overdelivers… don’t waste time looking any further for care you can trust.
I am extremely pleased with the results of my cervical spine surgery. I expected to be in a lot of pain for a long time. After one week I had no need for strong painkillers! Dr Sanderson and his team made me feel safe. I was also very happy to get immediate response when I had any questions. Everything was explained fully. Dr Sanderson also operated on my daughters back 8 years ago when she was 21 years old. He was very reassuring and helped relieve any anxiety for me and my daughter. I would be happy to recommend him to any friend or family.
I have had the upmost privilege being cared for by Dr. Scott Sanderson. He has performed 2 spinal surgeries on me within the last 14 months . One on my upper spine and the latest on my lower. He is absolutely professional and warming to communicate with , always explaining in detail what the procedures would entail . There is not enough room within this box to continue ALL the dynamic things I can share and express. A PHONOMENAL Gentleman in all aspects.
Dr. Sanderson is a superb physician: Very patient and able to express coherently involved subject matter. On a 1-10 scale, easily a 12.
Dr. Sanderson has been our go-to doctor for our back issues for years. He is a superb diagnostician, and has never suggested surgery when there were other more conservative solutions. He has always been available to us. Last January, shortly before the pandemic hit, my husband was scuba diving in Little Cayman, when the boat he was on was hit by a rogue wave and his back was severely injured. Luckily, I was able to get ahold of Dr. Sanderson, and although the surgeon there did not want to deal with anyone, Dr. Sanderson was able to consult with him. Because of Dr. Sanderson’s extraordinary care, my husband was medivaced home. He was admitted to Norwalk Hospital and surgery was performed the next day. He now has rods in his back, and with Dr. Sanderson’s care, he continues to do well. Dr. Sanderson was also able to deal with me, which was no small accomplishment. Dr. Sanderson is is not just an ordinary surgeon. His caring and compassion and skill is exceeded by none.
I was referred to Dr. Scott Sanderson by my Primary Care Physician. I found him to be very caring and honest in the initial consult for my back surgery. He did not leave the room until we were both satisfied that I had a full understanding of the required procedure and the possible outcomes. I was quite concerned and he really put me at ease. I left feeling that I was in good hands. The surgery went very well and I know I made the right decision. I think one can tell a lot about a doctor by his staff. I found them to be pleasant and very professional.
Hi, I would highly recommend Dr.Sanderson and his team. They were all very caring + professional and were essential in getting me back up on my feet after a lower back injury. Dr.Sanderson was very clear with my options and I felt very comfortable with his advice. He really does listen and care about his patients. You will be in great hands. Mark
How do I thank someone who, with his office & hospital staff, gave me back a quality of life thought gone forever. Surgery @ my age can be risky but it went smoothly, I must also thank Norwalk Hospital, dealing with a pandemic & still giving me [a nobody] exemplary care.
I am slowly recuperating and so far my pain has disappeared except for expected post surgery wounds. Excellent work although his office staff leave something to be desired.
I had surgery Dr Sanderson was the best at what he does .I researched in asking a good Dr and 4 of the 5 people gave me his office 3 said ask about Sanderson. Highly recommend.
Excellent doctor who cares about your wellbeing
Great doctor! Made a full recovery after herniating a disc (without surgery).
I had spinal surgery mid September 2018 with Dr Sanderson. It went very smoothly, no complications and was completely successful. All pain from spinal stenosis was immediately eliminated, and I had no pain to speak of from the surgery. I took some pain medication in the hospital, where I recovered for 3 days, but nothing at home. Additionally, Dr Sanderson's staff was accommodating and professional;l. I cannot be more grateful to Dr. Sanderson. I fractured 2 vertebrae and dislocated 2 discs in my neck, which also involved my spinal cord. Dr. Sanderson came back from a family obligation to operate on me on a Sunday night. He explained the injury and the surgery completely and before I left the hospital, showed me and my husband the MRI of before and after. Unlike most surgeons, he visited me several times in hospital and called when I got home. He is caring and truly gifted, as several other doctors have observed when looking at the "after" films.. My recovery has been spectacular and has exceeded all expectations. I went from someone who couldn't lift her left arm to to someone who is FULLY functional in 4 months. The Doctor was very thorough and patient with every aspect of the medical procedure. His explanation of the situation and execution was exemplary.
Dr. Sanderson is the extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The patient is made to feel that he or she is his only patient. He never rushes through an appointment and explains everything to where the patient has no questions.
Extremely professional, works miracles, calls back, listens to you.
June 20th 2018 , I met the most incredible, brilliant, amazing Neurosurgeon Dr. Scott Sanderson ... He and God saved my Husband Johns life !!! There are no words that can possible describe my admiration respect and love for this Doctor... my husband had a accident and crushed his skull , he had bleeding hemorrhaging from his brain... not only did Dr Sanderson let me pray before he did surgery his skills and compassion and Gods love saved my husband who is now home and getting back to his life !!
Dr. Sanderson is simply the most extraordinary doctor my family has ever used. My husband and I have had back issues over the years, and he has diagnosed problems other doctors missed. He is responsive, kind and when other doctors were pushing surgery, Dr. Sanderson cautioned that surgery would be the last resort. I do not have enough space to detail the depth of his expertise and how he has treated us. He even diagnosed a problem beyond the scope of imaging. Simply put, he is the best.
Dr Sanderson is an excellent surgeon this my 1st day post op and i'm up and writing my review. First surgery ever, anterior cervical vertebrectomy! The Neck and shooting pain down to my elbow is all gone and i'm not wearing a collar. No words can explain my feeling.

I felt that after the 5 minutes or so that he spent explaining the results of my MRI and telling me that I was not a candidate for surgery, he could not get me out of his office fast enough. He impatiently tolerated me asking some follow-up questions but I felt that he was disinterested in my case since I would not be a surgery patient. I have venous anomalies and visiting him was recommended by my Primary Care doctor, but he did not seem engaged with me.

After going through all pain management protocols for herniated disc (severe pain in back that radiated to left shin) to no avail, I did much research finding a surgeon and chose Dr Sanderson for necessary L4 / L5 spinal fusion surgery. The doctor and PA Shawn Finnegan scheduled a consult on short notice and explained risks and benefits of operation. I had the operation two and a half weeks ago - pain now is about 10% pre operation and should continue to subside. I don't require pain meds.

Dr. Sanderson has been the best Dr. and surgeon I have had the privilege of working with. I have a deteriorating spinal condition with two compromised discs in my lumbar spine. Dr. Sanderson has operated on me twice with excellent results and saw me through a number of successive spinal injuries. I trust him completely and his bedside manor is second to none. Thank you Dr. Sanderson for allowing me to stay active and relatively pain free.
Dr. Sanderson fixed my injured back (herniated disc with a piece partially torn and compressing my sciatic nerve). As soon as I woke up from surgery, the horrible nerve pain had subsided. I was up and walking the next day, and well recovered in 6 weeks. Dr. Sanderson set reasonable expectations moving forward, and following his advice has led to no further back problems.

Dr Sanderson did surgery on my neck because I had compressed discs. He came highly recommended by my neurologist and she couldn't have been more right about him. From the very first time I met him, he took the time to go over all my tests results with me and explained everything in detail as to why he thought surgery was my best choice. He was professional and polite and very personable at every encounter. I am now fully recuperated now and I couldn't be more grateful to him for helping me.
I had not met Dr Sanderson until I had been diagnosed with a herniated lumbar disk. Within a couple of weeks he performed a microdiscectomy on me. It was necessary as nothing else was relieving the excruciating sciatic pain. He and his staff were all attentive and caring. I never felt rushed, and had all my questions answered. The surgery went very well; it's now been almost six weeks and I am recovering better than expected. I am very pleased that I ended up being sent to Dr Sanderson.

Dr. Sanderson thoroughly explained my options and my injury. I felt well-cared for and equally listened to. I had surgery 19 days ago and feel tremendously better than before. He did a fantastic job. Though I wish I never needed to see him, I am so grateful to be in his care.

Dr Scott Sanderson is an awesome surgeon. I'm very happy with my before and after surgery care. He is thorough and very professional. Before I decided to use Dr Sanderson I asked around and everyone in the medical field spoke so highly of his work and professionalism. I'm glad I chose him to do my surgery, that was one of the best decisions I could have made. My surgery was excellent and I'm healing nicely. I highly recommend his work to everyone.
