We absolutely love Dr. Malik! We was recommended by a Doctor in our hometown to come here to Texas and met him in 2016. He has helped us figure out what was going on with our sons seizures and ended up having brain surgery. He just recently started having a lot of seizures again and Dr.Malik is taking excellent care of our son!

If I could post ZERO stars I would. For one, they are way overbooked. Dr Malik did not spend more than 15 minutes per visit. Never ordered MRI just EEG and instantly prescribed keppra which made my daughters seizures worse which followed with higher dosage of Keppra and then even higher along with a cocktail of other meds. Ultimately ended up in ER with toxic blood levels. Finally after lowering meds and eliminating Keppra but continuing Depakote we got seizures under control. During a summer we were advised to take her off the meds and see how it goes. She did well until end of summer when school started and seizures started again as well. Dr Malik wanted me to keep my daughter off of medication so we could have a sleep study done but then could not accommodate the study for at least 6 weeks. I told them I would not have her wait that long and send her to school having seizures. Basically I got the “sorry that’s the best we can do” response. Fast forward 1-1/2 - 2 years and my daughter runs out of meds and Malik won’t fill prescription because it’s been over a year since he’s seen her. On top of that, they told me to find an adult neurologist and in the meantime go to the ER or somewhere else to receive care. I am so disappointed that they are associated with Cook Childrens and I HIGHLY HIGHY RECOMMEND not going to Cook Neurology or at least Dr Malik. Last note: Upon visiting new Neurologist , was questioned why no MRI and why Depakote on a girl my daughters age? Depakote is a great drug to control epilepsy but TERRIBLE for young girls. Spent very little time with our daughter who has experienced seizure like activity. Likely, she is experiencing pyschogenic seizures which are very difficult to diagnose. Rather, he diagnosed her with syncope (fainting) even though it is evident she is not simply fainting. He has not listened to our concerns for our daughter. He prescribed her a medication that she is having reactions to. More specifically, she is having a reaction that the med clearly states is harmful, but he says the reaction is not due to the medication. However, the pharmacist and oncall RN suggested stopping the medication until she sees her doctor. We are ready to take our daughter to an entirely different medical facility altogether. Update: Dr. Malik called to provide further information and change our daughters medication. Most importantly, she is now beginning to function somewhat normally in her daily activities. I do not recommend Dr. Saleem Malik. He spent very little time with us or our 18-month-old daughter, he gave us little to no information about what was happening with our daughter, he could not give us clear or definitive answers to any of our questions, his explanation of things were very vague, there was a problem with the language barrier, and he never ordered more testing to be done so that he could give us an answer, diagnosis, etc. He prescribed an anti-seizure medication for our daughter (even though he told us he was not certain whether or not she was having seizures) and sent us on our way with a follow-up appointment six months later. Our daughter continues to have seizures or seizure-like episodes that are becoming more frequent and severe despite several increases in her medication. She has now reached the maximum dose of medication and when I called his office to let him know that she was continuing to have seizures, he had his nurse tell us to take her to the Emergency Room so that she could have further tests done there. Needless to say, we are in the process of finding a new Neurologist. I do not recommend Dr. Saleem Malik. Horrible doctor. Refused to take my son off a medicine he was having bad reactions to. Also worked with cardiologist in planning to put a pacemaker in my son over a big misunderstanding he did NOT need a pacemaker and they were pushing me to let them put one. Assumes my son has epilepsy but he only has febrile seizures 3-4 times a year max. One occassion i was talking to him and he started looking at his watch. And he also called cps on me for protecting my son from a medicine that was harming him.stay far away Horrible doctor. Refused to take my son off a medicine he was having bad reactions to. We love Dr. Malik and his staff. A nurse is always available by phone and email. Dr. Malik works well with our local neurologist as well; they really compliment each other. The recommendations from Dr. Malik have been spot-on for my son as well. He really listens to my husband and I as well; he stays in the room from 15-35 minutes. He is a board member of the Epilepsy Foundation of Texas as well. Love that he gives back to this fine organization. Would highly recommend Dr. Malik!

He refused to answer any questions I had regarding the possible surgery he recommended for my daughter. And when asked about the anesthesia for the mri to determine if there was a problem, he said he couldn't answer that. He was more interested in unnecessary procedures. And refused to look into any alternatives other than invasive means. He called cps because we decided to get a second opinion. We by no means "neglected her medical needs". I am very unhappy with this experience.
