Dr. Ryan Carl Petering

For the third time in less than a year, Dr Petering has neglected to refill prescriptions for my mother who lives in memory care after repeated requests from the pharmacy as well as the memory care center. I will be finding another primary care doctor for her.

Dr. Petering was knowledgeable and helpful with my knee injury. I highly recommend him.

Potentially the worst Dr ive ever seen. Id say more and will update after we finish with formal discrimination complaints. One of the oddest dr interactions one could imagine. I would highly recommend never letting this person near you or your medical record.

One of at least the worst experiences I’ve had with a Doctor. Terrible bedside manner. Last 2 times I’ve seen him for some very serious what feels to me like life threatening pain issues he hasn’t offered any attempt at utilizing modern diagnostic testing to see if there is underlying issues. Last time I seen him he said well we could do some X-rays but you know X-rays cause cancer so he didn’t opt for any type of testing to try to figure anything out. I think he believes I’m depressed which I am there is no doubt. I am majorly depressed because life feels more like I am dying these days than living but the pain I am enduring feels like it’s killing me. The depression is there because of the pain but the depression is not causing the pain. I visited him today and he acted like I was causing him a major hassle being there and I walked out not knowing anything more than when I went. I wake in the morning feeling like a gut will rupture that he is calling arthritis. Many people die from gut ruptures that are brought on by severe arthritis? If you have problems and want to find out what is wrong, go somewhere with real Doctors that can offer tests to see if they can find out your problem but this guy will not make a valid attempt. Dr. Petering is competent, clear communicating and thoughtful. All my experiences with him have been positive.

Dr Petering was very thorough, and had a great rapport with my teenage son. He took the time to explain his diagnosis, and relayed it in a way that could be understood by all! We have seen many doctors at OHSU over the years, and I can honestly say that Dr Petering had the best patient-doctor skills I have seen there. Caring, attentive, and not your usual boring doctor-type! We highly recommend Dr Petering if you need a Sports Medicine doctor.
