Horrible. Took 3 weeks for to schedule a visit after a crisis situation (has been a patient with him for 2 yrs) and my son leaving his job and calling 911 . Cannot leave a voicemail nor is there an afterhours receptionist. My wife and I went along with him this last time. My son left his room within 5 minutes out of frustration. I could not hold a cup steady 3 hours after the visit due to adrenaline in my system from frustration. My wife was similarly annoyed at his arrogance and lack of commitment to address issues at hand. Office staff also is disinterested in helping send needed information to supporting agencies. Standard line is 1 to 2 weeks regardless of urgency.

Like other reviewers, I found Dr. Freeman's bedside manner to be aloof, arrogant and borderline reckless. I have had long and healthy relationships with mental health providers to deal with my chronic depression. The last time I saw him, I was in tears as he told me he wouldn't prescribe a med I've been on for years, I agreed to taper off and come back in a month. Much to my surprise, one his office staff phoned me to tell me that I was no longer a patient. Luckily, I found a compassionate Dr. shortly after. But, I can't believe a mental health professional was so cavalier. Dr. Freeman should NOT be seeing patients.

I’ve had a good experience with my visits to Dr Freeman however I find it very difficult to communicate with the office staff. Leaving messages but lots of lag time in response. (ie 2-3 days)

Dr Freeman is great. He listens to my concerns and helps me adjusts anything that I might need to with my medication. He is also friendly and thorough. His nurse also always makes me feel good when I come in and when your staff is great, you know the boss is.

Dr. Freeman is ready to retire. He has very little compassion and does not make time to see you if you are in crisis.

Dr. Freeman developed a treatment plan, but refused to answer questions until I signed off. He told me that he did not have the "luxury" of spending a lot of time discussing the plan. When I asked for clarification, he pressured me, until I finally left, in tears, without signing. I was actively suicidal, which he acknowledged. I was afraid to sign anything without having the necessary information. I was appalled by his refusal to answer questions and lack of compassion.

I was just "fired" from this by Dr. Freeman, currently located in Newport News, Virginia. He developed a treatment plan, after 3 visits, and I had some concerns about all of the medication changes he proposed and the timeframe for the changes. He refused to answer my questions until I signed off on the plan. He repeatedly told me that he did not have the "luxury" of spending a lot of time discussing this with me. I am sick and PAYING for his services. He is condescending and will not listen to his patients, in my opinion. When I asked for clarification, he implyed that I was being difficult. I have to advocate for myself and I will not sign off on a plan that is not completely clear. I don't believe he ever reviewed my previous records. He looked at the prescriptions given by my last doctor, which were inappropriate, and I had hoped that he would attempt to work with me, as I am aware of medications that have and haven't worked the past. However, having essentially no knowledge of my past, he refused any reasonable discussion. He pressured me until I agreed to leave the practice. I have no where to go. I am appalled by his refusal to listen and discuss options. I have never dealt with a more unreasonable and uncaring "professional". I left the office in tears. No one asked me if I was "safe" or seemed even slightly concerned. I was very willing to make changes, but I was afraid to sign anything with him refusing to clarify his proposals. I believe his behavior is both dangerous and unethical. I was just "fired" from this by Dr. Freeman, currently located in Newport News, Virginia.
