Dr. Rowan Victor Paul

I first saw Dr Paul in 2021 for left knee pain and a ganglionic cyst that had formed on my knee. He confirmed meniscal tears in my knee and suggested a conservative approach and monitoring. I came back to him a few months later, the tearing had progressed and he suggested BMAC, which I then had done in Nov 2021. I was able to gently ski with my kids 2 months later, although PT/focused strength training lasted another 6 months. I recently saw him for another injury after a ski fall. He quickly diagnosed my injuries with his in-office ultrasound and gave me tangible, conservative rehab to follow. I'll see him again in 6 weeks to see how I've progressed. As a bonus, we looked at my left meniscus again and it is strong!! Dr Paul is thoughtful, thorough, and innovative. I highly, highly recommend him.

On a recommendation from my PCP, I saw Dr Paul to help treat a knee injury in 2020. I felt he listened to my concerns, educated me more about the underlying condition and accurately represented the treatment options. I elected to do BMAC later that year since I felt more conservative treatments had failed me. The procedure failed and subsequent rounds of PRP provided only temporary relief to the new post-surgery pain. I ended up going in for arthroscopic surgery in late-2021 and spending nearly a year in PT. While I remain hopeful for the future, as of now my last day running was the morning before the BMAC procedure in 2020. Will Dr Paul help you? I have no idea. What I do know is that for the money you spend here you could go on a nice vacation. If you really want BMAC or PRP, there are several physicians in SF who charge half or less than Dr Paul. These other physicians also use general anesthesia for the BMAC procedure. One physician I saw was horrified that I was awake for the bone marrow harvesting.

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Paul. I have a very unique tendon injury and saw a number of doctors. No one gave the same amount of thoroughness and holistic intuition in treatment as Dr. Paul. His staff are also great, and all together they make me feel at home when coming into the office. I have been seeing Dr. Paul for nearly 6 years when I first detached my hamstring. He did stem cell and unbelievably I had a full recovery and was back running competitively. Bionic! Then, three years later I tore my Achilles and post tib. He did many different treatments and I am back running competitively and feeling great. Dr. Paul is truly the nicest doctor I have ever met. He is caring, compassionate, supportive, AND extremely knowledgable. He has extensive experiences with dancers and athletes, and as a dancer myself, I trust him fully and feel safe in his care. He has given me several PRP shots that have helped me tremendously in my recovery. I have referred a few of my dancer friends to him and they have been equally pleased by his treatment and care. His kindness and expertise sets him apart from the rest. I highly recommend Dr. Paul!

Doctor Rowan Paul misrepresented himself My mom went to him for consultation for stem cell therapy for her arm / shoulder He took a look and said I can definitely do it and would help with the pain and movement of the arm We went several times to see him before the procedure and he kept reassuring us that the stem cell procedure will help On the day of procedure he did not prescribed in advanced pain killers After the procedure when pain was unbearable he gave us a prescription that took time to fill at pharmacy while my mother was in horrible pain She could not sleep or eat for days because of severe pain the doctor was not reliable with follow ups and misrepresented the process and procedure Its been two years and the pain instead of getting better got worse and when other doctor checked the xray. Dr. Paul is "the wizard of Park and 73rd" for shoulders and elbows. I'm 56 amd had terrible pain from boxing and lifting weights like a maniac for years. He fixed me. 100%. Like future tech. Plus he's a really nice guy.

I live to run. After fracturing my knee and then running intermittently with pain for 11 years, including seeing a variety of unhelpful orthopedists, I had a series of consults with Dr. Paul. Highly pleased. I have had a bone spur in the left ankle which has given me pain much of the time over the past five years. The normal procedure would be a hospital surgery to remove the bone spur. Dr Paul uses a FDA approved Tenet ultrasound device which dissolves the bone spurs with only tiny penetration of the skin with what looks like a fine needle. No sutures are needed. A focused ultrasound wave energy precisely dissolves the bone spur as the doctor observes with ongoing ultrasound. With a local anesthetic, there is absolutely no pain during the procedure. Seems like high tech magic. Because the area of bone removal was weight bearing, I had to use crutches for about a week even though I had minimal to no pain in recovery. I had been dealing with an ankle injury for over a year already. A misdiagnosis and wrong treatment plan. I couldn't walk over 20 mins without pain, which was really hard for a dancer and an active person. Dr. Paul really healed me with the stem cell and A2M procedures. Because it was a tendon injury, a surgery posts much more risks. The regenerative procedures were minimally risks, and I can now walk 2 miles at a time without pain. Also in the final conditioning phase to go back dancing. Stem cell really does wonders, and I can't think of a better person than Dr. Paul in SF to provide such services.
