About Ronald L. Stram
Reviews for Ronald L. Stram
He truly cares about his patients. The Stram Center are one of the more affordable doctors through ILADS. He has helped me very much, figure out what is actually wrong with me, and I am now getting appropriate treatment that has an approachable remission rather than remain chronically ill & that is everything. He is such a caring and wonderful doctor. When you're sick to the point where you are having cardiac, neurological, GI, high fevers for 2 years, and additional issues I feel safest under his care and team of professionals.
Unsafe. Interested in money, not the health of his patients
Dr. Stram ruined my health. He only cares about money. His follow up appointments cost 400$ out of pocket. He treated me for one of the Lyme co-infections several years ago. I am still trying to recover from the outcomes of treatment, which completely destroyed my nervous system, GI system, sleep, skin, etc. due to the side effects. I repeatedly raised concerns and notified him and his staff about adverse effects of the antibiotics that he prescribed were having on my health, he ignored and told me to continue. After several trips to ER, i said that I no longer will be taking the drug and he agreed that I should stop. The impact of the poorly administered by him treatment caused a lot of financial, emotional and health struggle. I lost my job due to inability to function as a normal person after the treatment-the drug itself, not even the initial infection that I had. I felt much better before the treatment. Patients pay 400$ for a follow up to see him for an hour and will only see him for 30 min, after that his assistant will try to sell supplements and useless unnecessary tests to you. Every MD in Albany NY that I saw during my recovery process expressed negative feedback about Dr. Stram. In fact, many of them told me that they are seeing many of his former patients whose treatment went wrong. Multiple practitioners including wonderful Dr Puc, Dr Jen Goldstock and many others have left his practice because of the unethical financially driven approach that Dr Stram has. He takes advantage of patients who lost hope. I probably spent 10.000$ within 2 years in his office and now spending even more on recovery from the treatment. In fact, during one of my appointments after Dr Stram left the room, one of his medical staff members said: "you don't have Lyme, but he (Stram) will try to convince you that you do..." THE END Dr. Stram ruined my health. He only cares about money. His follow up appointments cost 400$ out of pocket. He treated me for one of the Lyme co-infections several years ago. I am still trying to recover from the outcomes of treatment, which … More
Not a safe practitioner. Monetary gain fuels his practice more than positive patient outcomes. He presents as intelligent and approachable, but he also does not recognize his own boundaries as a practitioner. Often prescribes medications blindly, simply because rich clients tell him they have been on said medications before. If he does not know how to prescribe something, he will pawn the job off on his nurses and tell them to send electronic orders, essentially guessing at what the pharmacy will accept. In front of the patient, he is all confidence. A yes man, to the core. Negligent when it comes to long distance clients as well as psychiatric clients. Cannot even be bothered to pay for a phone system so his overseas clients can speak with his staff on the telephone.
Very good helping me get on medical marijuana program.
I am seeing positive results from treatment for lyme.
I have never met Dr Stram. However, I keep getting a bill for his services at St Mary's in Amsterdam NY. I went to St Mary's and the receptionist told me they take my insurance. Great! Then I went into the examining room. The NP that works under Dr Stram came in to look at me. Everything was great until the bill came. I was charged a doctors visit because Dr Stram is not covered by my insurance. I had no say in who examined me. He maybe a great doctor but the billing is unethical.
Dr. Stram’s medical care for my wife & me “did not meet the professionally recognized standard of care,” according to Livanta QIC in a June 24, 2016 official assessment for Medicare. This was in response to a complaint we filed about his unpleasant & unhelpful treatment. He overcharged us for our visit, prescribed non-Medicare covered tests despite our request not to & refused to provide Medicare a letter justifying the need for non-covered lab tests. We hope others can avoid such an experience.
Wonderful caring professional health care!
everything done was an experiment at my expense. This is not limited to monetary When things went bad I was abandoned to figure it out for myself. Initially it went fine but trying experimental procedures provided no positive results.
In April of 2013 my oldest son had gone paintballing on a field trip organized by HVCC. The students were not warned/handed a memo or anything about the danger of ticks. My son said there were no noticeable signs at the venue (near Troy, not sure of the name of the place) either. This was Saturday, April 13th. By Mon April the 15th a tick bite was discovered, skin necrotic at the site of the bite. Took my son to his pediatrician that afternoon. Was prescribed ONE 200mg doxycycline pill, despite us voicing our concerns that one pill was insufficient to prevent Lyme. (Had I known about Dr. Stram at that point I would have taken my son to him immediately!)Within a few weeks, extreme lethargy ensued. Panic attacks by July of 2013. More cardiac issues such as racing heart, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (though we didn't know that at the time). He was STRUGGLING to get a full breath of air (Air Hunger). The pediatrician referred us to a cardiologist nearby. That cardiologist told us my son was "depressed" & needed to take "anti-anxiety meds". By October my son was BEDRIDDEN with very frightening cardiac episodes. My son kept preparing me for what he believed was his inevitable death because, "Mom, no one is helping me. Whatever it is that's wrong with me IS going to KILL me." He had to drop out of college in the end of the 2013 Fall semester. FINALLY, a friend of mine in the field of health care (the field I work), referred me to Dr. Stram. I am telling you, Dr. Stram SAVED MY SON'S LIFE. During the first appointment he quickly realized my son had a cardiac issue NOT attributed to depression or anxiety. He listened to my son, he did not dismiss his concerns. After walking out of the first appointment with Stram in November of 2014, my son said in the car ride home, "I appreciate everything you are trying to do to help me, but I"ve already accepted the fact that I am probably going to die from this." After a month of treatment with three different kinds of antibiotics, we had another follow-up appointment with Dr. Stram. My son was feeling much better in the sense he wasn't struggling as much for breath, the POTS had mostly resolved, the tachycardia wasn't quite as frequent or intense. He felt like there was hope. On the car ride home that day he said, "Maybe I will be able to go back to school." Yesterday was exactly 2 yrs since my boy was bitten. He is not out of the woods yet, he is not back at school, but Dr. Stram and his team have been very supportive, knowledgeable, and taken a very responsible approach to my son's health care. It's been a process. Cannot say enough good things about Jen, the NP. Love her! I honestly don't want to even *think* about where my son would be today were it not for Dr. Stram & Jen. He and his staff are angels. In April of 2013 my oldest son had gone paintballing on a field trip organized by HVCC. The students were not warned/handed a memo or anything about the danger of ticks.
