Dr. McFarland is the best ophthalmologist in the area. He's extremely knowledgeable and his chairside manner really makes me feel welcome. His office is modern, professional, well run, and somewhere I can trust with my ophthalmology needs. Great experience and I would give 6 stars if I could. Highly recommend!

My visit went very well

The doctor allows his staff and patients to be treated horribly by his office manager who also happens to be his wife. She is demeaning, disrespectful, and rude to staff in front of patients. Hortensia ( the wife) has literally been seen hanging up on multiple patients and belittling the staff for absolutely no reason. When the doctor was notified of this behavior, he chose to fire the employees than correct his wife’s behavior. So here is my main issue with this practice. The fact that Mr.McFarland allows his stuck up wife to berate not only the patients BUT ALSO HIS STAFF! I’ve had to question the intelligence and integrity of this lady more than once. From just straight yelling at the staff in front of patience, to verbal abuse that is basically co-signed by Mr.McFarland. This toxic environment is not suitable for patients or staff all because of a power trip his repugnant wife is on. This disrespect should not be tolerated and the fact that she is Mr.McFarlands wife only insinuates further misbehavior/misconduct in the work place. So here is my main issue with this practice. I am sure that Dr. McFarland is great at his job but I would not recommend him or his office for my ophthalmology needs due to the way he runs his office and allows his wife (the office manager) to speak to the staff in the office. This is not borderline abuse, it is abuse. She is a micro manager that created a hostile, volatile, and toxic work environment . He has not only witnessed the verbal abuse, he is cosigning on it by standing behind her and her unreasonable requests. He would rather fire an office worker, who provides amazing customer service to his clients than to do the right thing and reprimand his wife the office manager about her behavior and treatment of his staff. Wonderful Doctor. However, the actual office is terribly run. I cannot get anyone to answer the phone there instead going straight to a service. I have left countless messages without a return.

Very professional and helpful,I could see well again in just a couple of days.

Great professional service. Wait time can vary from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Generally I’m in and out within an 1 hour-1 1/2 hour. However yesterday’s visit l was in an out in about 45 minutes. How ever long it takes, the wait is worth the expert service. Also the staff is kind and courteous.

Dr. McFarland is an Outstanding Physician who provides extremely high quality eye care to the under-served without regard to their ethnicity or insurance status. He is a recognized humanitarian and a genuinely decent person. For glaucoma, cataract, and diabetic pathologies, he is a vision saver.

I have been a patient of Dr. McFarland for years and have always had consistently good care. My wait time is very short, my update/pre-evaluation with his assistant is always efficient and goes smoothly. Then finishing out my exam(annual)with Dr. McFarland is always informative, professional and I leave feeling like I'm good to go for another year.

This low rating has nothing to do with the quality of treatment by Dr. McFarland or his assistants. It is due to their terrible time management. I have taken my mother here a half dozen times for routine office visits, and each time the wait to see the doctor has been 2 to 2 1/2 hours after her scheduled appointment time. He is good I have been going to him for years now I would tell everyone about him, he is good in what he do. I will keep going to himas long I need to he is good.

He is the best practitioner I have ever worked with. He is very friendly and accepts all patients. Answers all calls during emergencies and fits me into the schedule whenever. Never met a better practitioner.
