I would not recommend Dr. Salvatori at Johns Hopkins. I have been sick over the last 9 months with various symptoms and finally in March I was diagnosed as having a pituitary tumor. I decided to go to Johns Hopkins because of their reputation. When I had my one and only video appointment with Dr. Salvatori I initially really liked him. He's the Director of the Pituitary Center so I felt confident that he would help me get better. After a couple tests he told me he didn't know if I had a tumor or not. He told me to get another MRI in a year and told me to see my primary care. Then he dropped me. I conversed with him through Mychart and told him that considering my pituitary gland is bulged and that I have all these problems there is obviously a problem in the pituitary system or adrenal glands and that I need an Endocrinologist like him. He told me I shouldn't self diagnosed and he said nothing more. I then told him that if I had a doctor that cared about my care that I wouldn't have to. And Hopkins supposedly has some weird policy that you can't switch Endocrinologists. It seems that Dr. Salvatori didn't care about seeing my case through and truly investigating what is wrong with me. I guess because the tumor isn't huge taking over my entire brain he wasn't interested. So now I have to wait another month to see a new Endocrinologist somewhere else because obviously my primary care can't treat at the same level of care. Both me and my primary care are disappointed because we thought I was finally headed in a direction to receive treatment. Because of Dr. Salvatori's actions and lack of caring about helping his patients I wouldn't recommend him or the Endocrinology department at Hopkins at all. Truthfully I will never go back to Johns Hopkins period. I have expectations when it comes to my care and they failed me. I wish I could give him a zero. I was going to get a second opinion re my current endocrinologist in Miami, Fl. I picked Dr Salvatori at John Hopkins due to the his and the hospitals good reputation. Mind you, I just found out I was SAI after 18 years of thinking I had migraine headaches because according to my Endocrinologist had told me that there was "no way" that that could be from low cortisol. Anyway after my 3 time in hospital in ICU for a week with hyponatremia I had insisted on an ACTH stim test and my cortisol stimmed to 5.8. He told me hydrocortisone was guesswork and could not answer a bunch of questions. Anyway, I sent Salvatori my stuff and he said he could not help me. That my Endo had done all he would do. Hah! My Endo had done nearly nothing. I was the one who insisted on the damn test. He gave me very basic instructions and could not answer my questions. With out speaking to me or my Dr, Salvatori decided he could do no more than what my doctor had done (nothing) and it would be a waste of time to go see him. I was going to get a second opinion re my current endocrinologist in Miami, Fl. I picked Dr Salvatori at John Hopkins due to the his and the hospitals good reputation. I have adrenal issues and I was not happy with my current Endo who misdiagnosed me and gave me subpar treatment. I sent Salvatori my records and he said he couldn't help me, via his nurse, poor thing. I'm in a Facebook group for endocrine issues and several people agree he is a waste of time. One person left his office in tears.

Absolute waste of my time! I have a brain injury and have low cortisol and other hormone deficiencies. Dr. Salvatori was of no help he dismissed my abnormal test and sent me on my way.

This guy is first rate! I'm a medical professional with complicated multiple autoimmune diseases. During my first visit it was evident that Dr Salvatore had already carefully reviewed my medical history. From his questions and comments I could tell he was thinking intensely about my own particular set of circumstances and formulating a treatment plan. Highly recommended. This guy is first rate! Dr. Salvatori literally saved my life. His knowledge of Cushings Disease and all things Pituitary related, is remarkable. He has a great bedside manner and is direct and to the point.

Excellent. I am in competent medical care with a doctor who is knowlegeable of my illess. For the first time in a year I am comforted that I will make forward progress addressing my disease.
