My daughter saw Dr Tran for abdominal pain that she had for many years. He was very methodical and complete about her evaluation and explained to me in a very thoughtful and easy to understand way. Due to the complexity of her problem, I actually sought a second opinion at another GI in Orange County but she was no where as complete as Dr. Tran. I ended up returning to Dr. Tran because I trusted him and in the end, my daughter is now better and doing well. My daughter saw Dr Tran for abdominal pain that she had for many years. my son went to Dr. Tran for several years complaining of stomach pain. Dr. Tran had my son do a hydrogen breath test to see if it was bacteria in his stomach. The results showed negative. After years of trying to get help from Dr. Tran (who concluded my sons problem was anxiety), we went to another GI doctor. That GI doctor looked at the breath test Dr. Tran gave us and said that although the usual way of diagnosing bacteria overgrowth problems was for the test to show an increase from the baseline, that my sons baseline was so high that it might not have increased because his baseline was so high. Dr. Tran totaly missed that ON HIS OWN TEST. After my son being in pain for 12 years (since he was born), Our new GI doctor prescribed him antibiotics made for his GI tract and within 4 days my son was fine. I think Dr. Tran might be good for regular, obvious, GI problems, but don't expect him to dig in. If he had looked at the data of our test and not just the results, my son would have been out of pain much sooner. my son went to Dr. Tran for several years complaining of stomach pain. Very thorough and professional. He is prompt and takes the time to listen. I am happy to have him as my child's GI specialist. My daughter loves him too!
Dr. Tran was very patient in hearing my son's problems. After being dismissed by a few doctors for having anxiety, Dr. Tran was able to recognize that my son's chronic pain and low weight was due to Crohn's disease. He ordered the right tests and after an endoscopy he was able to make the right diagnosis. My son is taking the right medications and no longer has pain and is back to his normal weight.
Dr. Tran might be a good fit for someone who has regular GI issues. We went to Dr. Tran for my son because he has had stomach issues on/off for several years. Dr. Tran had him take a "breath test" where he breathes into a machine to test for bacteria in his stomach. Dr. Tran said my son didn't have a bacteria issue. Eventually we went to another GI doctor. When they looked at the results of Dr. Tran's test, it showed "normal" but when our new doctor looked at the data, apparently my son's "bacteria level" was so high at the beginning of the test, that it didn't really matter that his levels didn't rise as the test was administered. If Dr. Tran had looked at the DATA of the test, and not just the bottom line, my son would have been given meds earlier and been out of pain a LONG time ago. The new GI doctor gave my son Rifaximin and within a few days he was better.
Dr. Tran is reassuring and knowledgeable when it comes to GI issues in babies. We’ve had a great experience with him so far.
My child went to Dr. Tran (1760 Termino Avenue) for 7 years. We described that my child had agonizing stomach pain, esophogus hurt, always sick, lots of ear infections, and very gassy (but can't burp). Dr. Tran did an endoscopy and lots of tests and found nothing. He had my child taking acid reducers for YEARS, which seemed to make it worse, but we were supposed to keep taking them. I found out that acid reducers shouldn't ever be taken unless you have done a Heidelberg Gastric Analysis (Out of all the tests Dr. Tran did, he never had us do this one). consequences of taking acid reducers when you don't need it: malnutrition, early onset Alzheimers, and other scary things, etc. After a LOT of research, I found that most acid reflux is from too low of stomach acid and not too high of stomach acid. We took him off all Dr. Tran's meds and started him on Betaine HCL with Pepcin and he feels great in ONE DAY. So simple. Why didnt Dr. Tran know tell us this?!!!
very good Dr he took the time to explain and made sure I understood.

Dr Tran always listens to what you have to say. My granddaughter was in the hospital with complications from being a premature baby. Dr Tran listened and was very caring. The only doctor who listened and was able to diagnose her. I’m so blessed to have him as a doctor for my granddaughter
My daughter was born with a milk protein allergy and I consulted with Dr. Tran on that as well as her reflux issues. As time went on she had trouble gaining weight and Dr. Tran again had some great suggestions for us that were considerably more helpful than the nutritionist we were referred to. Last year my daughter was having stomach issues and Dr. Tran discovered C.Diff on the first visit. Our pediatrician had completely overlooked that. He is a wonderful doctor and I am so thankful for him.
