Dr. Skidmore has been my dermatologist for approximately 10 years. I recently was diagnosed with a condition which requires Mohs surgery. The confirmation was made by a pathologists report. I was out of town when I received the information , & hadn't planned on returning to the Gainesville area for 5 months or more. I contacted another dermatologist in my temporary location to set up an appointment. The new dermatologist requested my medical records. I called Dr. Skidmore's office to request my medical records. The told me I had to come in to sign a medical release form. I explained I was out of state, and requested they forward the form by email. The employees said they did not use email. I was shocked. I requested that Dr Skidmore call me. He, not anyone from his office has returned my call. My condition is extremely time sensitive. I find this utter disregard for a patients health to be a shocking dereliction of a Dr's sworn obligation.

I had a wonderful experience. No nonsense treatment. Every one was great at their craft, and were very attentive to all my needs. Thanks Dr. Skidmore.

I was seen before my appt time even arrived. Doctors & other personnel were friendly and answered all questions. Doctor was thorough and kept me comfortable throughout procedures.

The most efficient office I have ever experienced. Top notch doctor and staff.

Dr Skidmore does an amazing job! He was very comforting, even when delivering tough news of Melanoma. His team always gets me in promptly and the wait times are amazing. They treat me like their favorite patient every time.

I recently moved to the area and having prior skin cancer, I need to have annual skin checks so I made an appt with Dr Skidmore. Was very happy with the pleasant staff and comfortable with my exam. I saw a PA and then Dr Skidmore came in after. This week, I called because I have two areas of concern and they scheduled me for next week. Very happy with this practice.

He was wonderful!!! After about 5 years of my son seeing a dermatologist with continuing skin issues, we changed to Dr. Skidmore, who immediately knew that everything we had been through for the last 5 years was not going to work and he put him on accutane for about 5 months and the problem was resolved. Done.

Wasn’t able to see an actual doctor, only RN. Also, the medication that I am on requires that I am seen monthly yet they can’t fit me in that often so I go days without medication.

Very disappointed. Don't go here to get ordinary skin conditions diagnosed. They are only interested in cutting off potential skin cancers and can't seem to focus on anything else. Most of the time you will only see a PA or a Nurse Practitioner, even though you are paying for a specialist.

Unless you have a complex specialty issue, I do not recommend. I tried to get a refill on a prescription for my psoriasis that was given to me about a year ago from Dr. Skidmore, after a costly biopsy (surprise bill a month later, should have been told beforehand that it would be paid for out of pocket despite my insurance-both of my parents are medical specialists and told me that they would NEVER perform anything on a patient before discussing extensive expenses beforehand). Anyways, a year later... I recently moved to another state and had another psoriasis breakout, called to refill and was told that they could not authorize a refill on the prescription without another appointment. For psoriasis. After a biopsy. In their records. When I asked if it was a legal issue for why they would not refill the prescription of the medicated cream that was working wonderfully to clear my psoriasis, they said it was “not illegal, just not good medical practice”. I call BS and believe in a little thing called common sense. Save your money unless it is a special issue and go somewhere more accessible. When I had an emergency with my skin, I went to the hospital first and they said to follow up with Skidmore. The only had appointments three and four months in advance. I had to go a second time, my face was inflamed and very painful. Again he did not have time for me, so I chose to go to this office and see if that would help to get in and see him. My face was inflamed and still very painful. He came into the reception area and told me to see an infection doctor. I went to my car and cried. Prior to seeing this man, I saw Dr. Beers, but she was no longer on my insurance plan. It was about four in the afternoon, as I sat in my car I called Dr. Beers. She told me to come right in and not to worry about anything else. She was amazing! She took one look at me and knew right away what was happening. I have a rare type of roseate, she knew I was in extreme pain and my face felt like it was on fire. I called BCBS and complained about Skidmore and his unwillingness to take care of his patients. I told them I need to see Dr Beers on a regular basis, she had time for emergencies. They gave me an exception because of the horrible way I was treated by this man and his office. Friendly and caring staff and doctors.. they’re always smiling and helping .. very professional!!

Dr. Skidmore and his whole staff were pleasant and supportive during my visits. My Appts. were right on time and every step was explained ahead of time.

Dr Skidmore and his staff have the most Professionalism of any Drs office I know. Always a great first impression when walking into the door. I work for a Medical Practice in Gainesville and you never get a 2nd chance to make a good first impression- and his Daughter Ashley is AMAZING. Thank you for taking such great care of us.

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Skidmore for years. Great doctor and office. We appreciate the staff's attentiveness and caring. They made a very early diagnosis for an autoimmune disease for my husband and he was able to begin treatment early. I myself have had melanoma surgery and was very pleased.

What a waste of time. My PCP gave me a referral for some scalp skin issues. I was seen by a PA. Even though my Pt Information and questionnaire form indicated that I was Deaf, there was VERY poor communication throughout the entire brief visit. The PA kept speaking to me from behind me, which I didn't understand. Medications prescribed were not for condition I had… didn't work. I used something I had at home from yrs ago... solved condition myself. I would NEVER use this practice again

All great staff from the physicians assistants to Dr. Skidmore. No wait at all and the doctor was patient and answered all questions!

If your health insurance doesn't cover dermatology they won't give you an appointment. Even if you can afford to pay, "that's their policy".

I have been a patient of Dr. Skidmore since he was at UF. I have had several extensive MOHS surgeries of which I am very happy. The PA and Nurse Practitioner staff as well as the medical assistants are also always very professional and diligent when performing any ancillary procedures. Dr Skidmore is one of the best doctors I've had the pleasure of being a patient of. His chair side manner is awesome.. He makes his patients feel very welcome during every office visit and not rushed. He takes his time to make sure you as a patient,understand your individual problem and procedure. His office staff is very friendly and accommodating.. His office location is easily accessible.

Dr. Skidmore is an excellent doctor. Spends plenty of time with his patients and is very friendly . He has a wonderful staff and excellent PA's. I have never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment.

Doctor Skidmore and most of the staff are very friendly. However, I did have a poor experience in November/December 2016. I was seen by an older woman (Caucasian and seemingly a little country, but I may be mistaken there) and I asked what I could do to help heal old scars, burns, scratches --just general marks on my skin from any wound-- and she told me "stay out of the sun" and "you don't need laser treatment". I'm not looking for laser treatment, but a recommendation for a topical product or vitamin (something sort of natural). I also asked about small bumps on my face and she said "those don't count" and "stop using a magnifying mirror". She said they were too small to worry about. Well... I'm worried about them and I'd like some advice, but instead I received no answers. Just stay out of the sun and don't use a magnified mirror; ignore your problems ???? I can't speak to the negative Review below. All I can say is that I have had 3 surgical procedures here, and all 3 were performed by Dr. Skidmore himself. The ancillary stuff was done by his highly competent PAs and staff; I didn't need Dr. Skidmore for this trivia. My wife, a Melanoma survivor, is also a loyal patient of Dr. Skidmore for more than 5 years. I can't speak to the negative Review below. It was my first time. The staff were all extremely nice and friendly. They all apologized for wait times and there was none. The doctor was out of this world nice. I couldn't really rate an urgent request.

Dr. Skidmore supervised carefully and with care the initial examination. I felt that he and his staff took the time to make a thorough and professional examination. He clearly knows what he is doing. His chosen staff exercised the same professionalism and care in subsequent visits.

Been only once. Tried to make several appointments but they always told me to see my primary care physician first. When i finally did get an appointment I only saw the PA and never the actual dermatologist. I will not be returning.

I have been a patient for over a year & love this practice & the staff. I had different insurance in the beginning so I did require a referral which was no problem. I was in within a month (which is pretty typical for specialists, in my experience). Area was biopsied, excellent care from his PA to keep me calm & informed. Several options for treatment given & support was just a phone call away. Jane, the PA I dealt with, was always great with me over the phone. A year later a spot has come back. It was going to be a couple of months before they could get me in but once I made it clear that there was an ISSUE and this wouldn't just be a follow-up appt, they got me in the next week. I just can't say enough about everyone who works there from the gentleman who always answers the phone to the PAs, MAs, office staff, etc. I've never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen & that's usually because I arrived early.
