Dr. Gelb and I went through trial and error to see how effective different measures would be for my wrist. It was a rare injury and he eventually put me under to remove some unwanted stuff in my wrist. He was always professional, sympathetic to my situation as an athlete and showed great care. I highly enjoyed Dr. Gelb.

Was so rude to me. I have NEVER been talked to like that. He yeld at me because I was not familiar with dupren contraction????

Run don’t walk away from gelb

I went to Dr Gelb to get treatment for Dupuytren's contracture. He was a nice guy, but the office staff never followed through after my visit. I called multiple times. They promised to call back, but never did. I had to go to another Dr, as it turned out to be a waste of time.

Dr. Gelb performed carpal release surgery on both my wrists, and also diagnosed arthritis in my thumb. Both of my surgeries went great, minimal recovery pain and scarring. He also has a great reputation amongst local physical therapists. He's one of the best and most caring doctors I've ever been too, and truly puts his patients first. I would highly recommend him! Note on office staff - it used to be hard to get a return phone call from Dr. Gelb's staff, but their responsiveness has significantly improved. Horrible bedside manner and very rude. He apparently forgot that he would be my employee. Guess what? He's FIRED. When I asked questions, he got frustrated and walked out of the room in the middle of my exam and said "then get a second opinion." No, I got a better doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Gelb by Dr. Kumar. I have had wrist and hand pain for over 25 years. Dr Kumar ran a nerve conduction study, X-rays and an MRI on me. The MRI showed some muscle and nerve damage in my forearm. So she sent me to Dr. Gelb. Dr Gelb did do a thorough exam But could not recreate the pain or figure out what's wrong with me. He basically told me that he had no idea what was wrong with me and most likely no other doctor will either but that this was definitely not an issue that he could take care of and he was going to send me to a neurologist. As we were about to leave the room I asked him about the MRI. Only then did he pick up the results and start reading them. Then he took me to a computer and pulled up the actual MRI images and told me that there's nothing wrong with my forearm. Then I mentioned that I had a nerve conduction study done and it was negative, he was shocked to hear that. Then he said he was going to send me to a neurologist, Dr. Kumar. That's when I told him that Dr. Kumar is the one who sent me to him! He didn't even read my file. He didn't read my history or anything. I was very disappointed in this visit and now I'm going to see a different hand surgeon. Maybe somebody who will actually read my file and read my history. He left me feeling very discouraged and basically told me that I'll probably never get an answer and that I'll probably just have to live with this for the rest of my life. :( I was referred to Dr. Gelb by Dr. Kumar. After 14 ortho surgeries I think I'm well qualified to make a judgement on an ortho doctor. If you're looking for a "buddy" doctor Dr Gelb is not your guy. If you want a well qualified professional then Dr Gelb is your guy. He explained my options to the nth degree as opposed to another hand specialist who only said "yeah I can fix it". He's very carefully/compassionately shot up my thumb 3X's now and when I do get my surgery Dr Gelb will be the guy.

He's very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor, but he's not a great listener. I felt like I had to stop him constantly and just reiterate what I was trying to say because it was falling on deaf ears. Eventually I got everything across, but it was tough.

Dr. Gelb has been awesome at explaining everything that is going on with my thumb. He has not been one to just jump into surgerymhe has suggested a few this to try first. When the time comes that I will eventually need the surgery it will definitely be with Dr. Gelb

Very caring, professional, listens, conscientious, good sense of humor but be open to it.

Office staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Did not feel rushed and all of my questions were answered.
